Neil. I cannot believe that 5% of thumbs up/thumbs down responses are thumbs down regarding your fine tutorial. The only thing that I can think, is that that 5% will never learn how to play the guitar, no matter how much instruction they receive.
Aside from that, thank you for directing me toward the drop D tuning. It makes such a difference, especially when playing solo. This song definitely catches everyone's attention around a campfire.
    Thanks again.................................Dave

hey, I am a 55 yr old Canadian and I happened to already know the back story of this song and picked this up in 30 secs, but there are people of every level here AND of vastly different age groups. He had good camera angles and sound. I've seen some tutorials that constantly made me use the pause button or the damn mike was in the way...just wish you would sing.

"Never" is such an absolute word! In 1964, the Beatles held the top 2 album spots AND the TOP 5 singles spots, with 1. Can't Buy Me Love 2. Twist & Shout 3. She Loves You 4. I Want to Hold Your Hand 5. Please, Please Me. However, some of this was due to releases in the U.S. being delayed.

I've been trying to figure out how to play this in standard tuning from Neil young playing it- without any success. So this helped a lot, tuning to open D. A while back I wrote lyrics to the tune of "Ohio" about what happened in Libya- now I need to practice. Thanks.

      Benghazi terrorists coming,
      Consulate on their own,
      No security for Chris Stevens,
      4 dead in Libya.
      Gotta get down to it,
      Terrorists are cutting us down,
Had nothing to do with a video,
What if you knew him and
saw him dragged on the ground,
What difference at this point does it make(said Hillary)

Rlee bert Maybe you could write versions for each of the 13 attacks on American embassies and consulates during the Bush Administration. I would hate for those 60 dead to be forgotten. That would be quite an album.

To be honest.Neil Young hardly ever played his songs the same way every performance. So strictly speaking I don't think there's a wrong way of playing this particular tune so long as the 'flavour' of the song is more or less correct.

    • @NexusDL12
      @NexusDL12 2 роки тому

Depends what recording your listening to. Neil Young plays it differently every time. As long as it’s close to the recording , that works for me.
