Paborito talaga to ng spider mites. That's why i mounted all my phals. Sa may puno . Observation ko lang, mas malakas immunity nila against bacterial rot and pest if mounted sa live tree.

Hi, just noticed at 4:03, the ‘sponge’ like cylinder thing. I had them when I purchased my orchids too. It seems very common for commercial growers. I quickly googled and it’s a hydroponic medium for seeds and seedlings, very cheap. So I guess that’s how these orchids grew in the farm base. I hate the mushy feeling too 🤣 and I removed it immediately when I receive my flowers.
I have do that, and my orchid roots were broken, cause the roots were so long and many root, and after that, my phalenopsis experiencing root rot and died. now i just plant my orchids in pot, and now they are so healty This is my exprerience, if you want to do that, you can do that, just for phalenopsis with a few roots, Dont not with long and many roots Greeting From Indonesia

Before I use fern slab as a mount,I boil it first for at least an hour before using.Another alternative is to soak it in water and zonrox overnight.That should take care of the unwanted critters and pathogens residing in the fiber.

Thank you, I haven’t done that - I just rinsed and showered this with tap water. Next time, I will soak it in water with bleach 😀
Sorry . I have a question about the fern board , is it normal for the water to change color when I soak it? And if not, what would be the solution?
