Just bought a 1974 D12-28 that is like new. Must have been under a bed or in a closet. Plays like nothing else. Sounds like nothing else. Stays in tune like a miracle. Been playing a 12 for 50 years. Never played another instrument like it.

I could have gotten the Martin75 6 string through our school for $80 back then. I was taking guitar lessons in 75. Sure wish I would have bought it now. I know I would have hung onto it. What a gem!

Back in the 60s and 70s, most 12-string players used to capo up on the second fret, but not for the usual “key change” reason (check John Denver - he always capoed up, but played in A-440 standard tuning). The actual reason back then was to tune to standard pitch with the 2nd fret capo in place to relieve a LOT of the string tension on the guitar’s top which, in turn, helped a LOT of vintage 12-strings to NOT warp the top in the bridge area. It also provides at least one side benefit, which is that the action is lowered considerably.

Love the D 12 28's from the 1970's despite the few spec changes and minor flaws Martin & Co had during the early 1970's. I have played a model from 1976 and in my humble opinion the D 12 28 goes down as one of the BEST sounding 12 strings to date.

The Command Z Experiment is more than a song! It is an invention desperately needed by big sacs of mostly H2O, aka humans! (Star Trek referred to us as "Ugly Bags of Mostly Water"! We, as a species, believe we are highly evolved and superior to all other animals on earth. LOL! In fact, in so many ways. the exact opposite is true! I invite you to help me make a list of how other animals on earth are more evolved than humans! Please! Command Z represents a very needed experiment for a new approach to the human capacity to live empathetically! Thinking, caring, and considering how our actions and decisions affect the earth, our own children, and even our own health and well-being! I will solicit help to create a sort of "to do" list by first asking for YOUR help to make a list of all of the ways human evolution has failed to be more advanced than many of our furry and feathery friends that we tend to regard as "inferior"! Please send me your list of suggested items to add! - The song, itself, was inspired by the numerous times we look back at spontaneous reactions we have had that could have so, so easily been altered to not impact our lives in any negative way! My crude lyric: Where the hell is Command Z?", sums it up nicely!
