I thought you'd like a look at this nicely restored 1967 Chevrolet Corvette, powered by the 435 horsepower 427 Big-block Tri-Power V8 with high-compression and a solid lifter cam. All that power is funneled through a Muncie Four-speed manual trans back to a posi rear. This thing sounds mean and has the performance to back it up. The sound coming out of those side pipes is unbelievable. I hope you find it interesting...thanks for watching!

I ❤️ C2 Corvettes!!!! I’ve always wanted one since I was a little girl. Well, fast forward to 2021. I finally got my dream car. A 1967 Corvette L79 Coupe. It’s a 3-time NCRS top flight car, with all the original paperwork/documentation. The original owner took delivery of it on 12/23/1966 at Lamb Chevrolet in National City, CA. The 67 is a blast to drive!!! I love it.
I worked at a Ford assembly plant in 1968, having sold my 1965 Corvette fastback that winter because it blew a head gasket. I traded it for a 1967 Mustang fastback. At the time I was living with three buddies who owned respectively, a 1967 Corvette roadster with the 427 cubic inch engine and two 1968 Corvette roadsters. I teased my boss at Ford that the Mustang didn't compare with a Corvette and he was bewildered until one Saturday I borrowed my friends 1967 and took my boss for a ride at lunch time. We left the light near the top of a freeway entrance and I floored it, speed shifting from first to second, the front end almost coming off the ground. My boss was gripping the door and center console, gasping. He got the message. I loved my days playing with Corvettes, having owned three of them along the way. Alas, I'm not inclined at this time in my life to either spend that kind of money or drive that kind of car. In the sixties, however, it was a gas!
the 427 power band is only limited to " common sense" and road distance ended before a sharp turn..lol
Love that story. Once a Corvette guy always a corvette guy!
You should have borrowed a 427 Cobra and went for a ride.
This comment was to long...
COOL hearing Mamma's and the Papa's in the background. Did John/ Michelle Philips have a car thing??
When I got out of the Navy in 1972, I started looking for a Stingray to buy. I actually wanted a 63-67 327 Cu In engine, not a big block, but the salesman showed me a beautiful '67 silver roadster, 390 HP version. It was a fast car indeed, the fastest and most powerful car I've ever owned. My car had headers and big old Holley double-pumper carb, so it was probably putting out over 400 HP. There was no power steering, power brakes, or A/C, just engine connected to a 4 speed transmission. I also had the optional hard top, which was pretty coolI live in San Antonio, Texas, and my only gripe with the car was that it got terrible gas mileage. If I traveled to Austin, which is about 100 miles away from San Antonio, and if I filled the gas tank before leaving, I could not make it to Austin and back before the tank was getting very near to empty. I got between 6 - 10 MPG, depending on how I drove it. Since gas was only about %.50 per gallon in those days, keeping the gas tank full wasn't a problem, but then the gas crunch happened in 1973. They were talking about gas rising to over $1.00 a gallon! So, I sold my car to an Air Force officer and I never saw it again. When you were driving on the highway, at 70 mph, that big old carb was starting to kick in the secondary jets, and it sure sounded sweet! I wish I had it back again, but thanks to the guy that posted this video because it brought back great memories of a great car.
Semper fi
thank you for your service.. 427. yes please.
Absolutely gorgeous. It has those Space Age lines everyone was trying for in the 60's. Except they succeeded with this car. Beautiful machine.
That is a beautiful car. I Love those 427s
That 427 really pulls strong and it sounds great. Thanks for taking a look!
No doubt the 67 BB Vette (imo anyway) is the pinnacle of American cars. Never before or since has any car been so damn sweet this is the best of the best of american design an power! Goddamn what a machine, It gave me half a stock soon as he fired it up! Lol...
That 427 pulls like a freight train...the torque is amazing. It pulls just as hard in second gear as it does in first. It really is one of my all-time favorites.
I used to own a 72' and loved it.... But the 1967 has always been my dream Vette. Love the sound from those side pipes!
love the 427 , 435 horse power wowowow,67 the best
Got one in my garage. The competition side exhaust is really cool for about 15 minutes!
Had a buddy that installed them on his brand new '67 small block. Spent a fortune ! Headed to Panama City from Birmingham. Got to Montgomery 100 miles away and threw up for 30 minutes. Lightheaded and suffered what his doctor later described as vertigo ! Also burned his leg gettting out more than once.
I'd have any side exhaust rerouted to rear.
I've long been a fan of well muffled cars. It's that 'body builder in a suit' thing. If you got it, people will know.
my dream car 67 is the finest w 427 and the big block hood almost gives me a woodie
What do you mean....almost...!?!?
My dad and I went to a storage unit site auction (3/5/17 my birthday). We bid on one of the bigger storage units and won it ($450). In it was an original 4581 mile 67 Corvette Stingray, 427/435, solid lifter cam, triple black, 4 speed, red stinger. It still had the original tires (which were extremely dry rotted). There was a bonus in the unit; a COMPLETE 427/435 engine, solid lifter cam, 3X2 with air cleaner and flywheel, in a crate. The car was well preserved, covered completely with 3 covers, plastic over those 3 covers, with another cover over that. Even the underside and tires were covered. We have had it appraised at $482K . Someone offered us $20K for the engine. We had the car professionally detailed (which took 2.5 days) and drive it ONLY on cloudless sunny days. Since the day of 4581 miles, we have only put 524 miles on it.
Yeah, total BS. If true, that would be on the front page of assorted car magazines and websites as find of the decade.
Joey--notice he has videos posted but not one of this "find".
wrrr, now honey you really need to quit lying honey
Nah-uh...nope...
..and then his alarm clock went off and he woke up
It's definitely one of the faster cars I've been in lately. Thanks for taking a look!
That exhaust sounds like a symphony.
It's one of my favorites too...that 427 pulls real strong and it sounds mean too.
I had s 68 coupe 427 tri power 4 speed Muncie and 411 gears wish I had it today
I just bought one in March. They're out there but pricey.
Really a beautiful, and awesome sounding 67' Sting Ray rdstr with 427 c.i.e. and tri-power 435 HP motor. The 63' - 67' Corvette Sting Rays were and still are the best looking American sports car Chevrolet ever made. Great video of this American Muscle Classic. Thanks for posting, and thanks a million.

My dad has that same car he's owned it for 32 years.
its red with the black stinger and black interior . and not the solid lifter cam but still a all origanal 427 tri power four speed car. its a beauty .
really nice car you have
Probably a 390 hoarse
The other trip power version was 400h.p hydraulic cam the single 4 brl was s 390 h.p
I think the 1967 Corvette is one of the best looking vets, big block in red or black, with a black leather interior. Only thing i would have is a coupe, not a convertible. The reason being is that the coupe has beautiful lines and convertibles break that line. Even the '67 convertible which looks fantastic, i think looks even better as a coupe.
If I win the lotto, I'm getting my dream car, this is it!
me too !!!
Me too! Although I'd want a '66 with a 427, so I can get real knock-off wheels and a real teak wood steering wheel!
amen
500 & something $$million$$ on Powerball right now, buy your tickets
I’m also in line. God this is a nice car.
Upon my return from Vietnam, I purchased a 1967 Big Block in Green. I need to feel alive again.
Had to sell it to buy a house.
Pinch me.

This thing sounds insane… I own a C6 Z06. I wonder if my C6Z will become a collector like this.
I agree completely. It's one of the best cars that I've filmed. That thing will really fly.
its truely amazeing how maany aruuments and cut downs are on the comment section of this presentation ,why cant every one get along and be happy? i love big block chevys with all my heart ,im likeing the new lsx better never have had one but i had a built to the hilt 502 in a 84 corvette ,was a monster, but the porsche for a race around town out up the canyon with a turbo ,that is a gas for real sthe boost is a whole diferent rush, try it before u knock it, youll like it
I love my Dodge Vipers but this is the real deal ,and i've always wanted one exactly like it.Sweet!
Great job on the video. Pristine 'vette. Big block + sidepipes = incredible sound!
Everyone should take a ride in a big-block vette at least once in their life. It really is an amazing experience. Thanks for watching!
Love the Tri Power engines.
I've always loved these cars. In the Summer of 1971, when I turned 21, I tried to buy one like this from a dealer for $3795.00, but couldn't get insurance on it. It was white with the red stinger and red interior, sidepipes and both tops. I drove it and was hooked. 6500 rpms with a big block! Wow! It's hard to believe that dealers had trouble selling the big block high horsepower cars in those days. Having to pass on this one really hurt.
You can keep all the fancy stuff, no thanks...there is simply no better feeling than a strong V8, 4 on the floor and rear wheel drive.
Man, does it really get any better than this? I love that stumble at 5:33 where it's like the secondaries (or whatever you'd call it with 3 2bbls) are opening up! You don't even have to be getting on it - just listen to the killer idle!
+Dave McCullough outer carbs, good observation my man, vacuum actuated in most. some mechanical linkage out there.
Old school Detroit big block power opening up all six barrels. Awesome.
RUNS OFF THE CENTER CARB TILL IT IS NAILED PROGRESSIVE LINKAGE.. aint no current cars with efi sound any better than the ole big blocks
had the yellow one.. unreal car... then I went into the Army...
I agree, it's one of the best cars that I've ridden in. That thing is wicked fast and sounds amazing.
Thanks for taking a look, Maria. This is one of my favorites.
Work of Art.
I drove one this year. Beautiful car and fun to drive.
Sounds sweet! My 63’ Split Window fuelie had side pipes when I bought it in 1973, but I removed them as they were not originally available … I do like the sound!
This by far and away my favorite Corvette ever, and the best (obviously). There really isn't one that looks or sounds better.
I can definitely see why you'd miss that one. They really are awesome cars.
wow. this is just wow. 435hp in 1967, my c6 is only 400hp. Imagine it with a modern transmission.
Poison Ivy car!!!! Drew B,,, grinding that gearbox with that mech linkage clutch was excruciatingly hott!!! Lol
Thanks for taking a look!
Thanks for taking a look at it!
My vicked vicked ways you aint got a chance to catch this baby No way shes beautyfull Mean and awsome fast so hold on to your seats thanks jeff and Jordan for this wonderfull video and testdriving
It really is an amazing car...thanks for taking a look!
That's great, glad you sold it! I'll have the 54 Corvette video posted in about 20 minutes.
Just here for the sound. Thanks to poster for not adding music, someone talking, etc. Sound....
The best American car made hands down
It sure ran great too. Thanks for checking it out!
An EV, for all its superiority, will never possess this mellifluous sound.
Can't wait for the first all electric E.V. drag racing national's. Gotta feeling something is going to be lacking!!
It really does sound mean....thanks for taking a look a it!
Beautiful looking corvette. Have ever been lucky enough to test drive a 63 corvette Z06?
Thank you! Beautiful Vette!
"Creeque Alley" ... appropriate 1967 hit.
Pure classic American-Made Muscle.
Maybe just a little...lol Thanks for watching!
Wrong..lake pipes were basically exhaust cut outs at the end of exterior mounted exhaust pipes that could be unbolted for basically open exhaust and were origianted at the dry lakes top speed events ..hence the name. The side pipes on this car are indeed sidepipes..pipes with the attractive side covers that were muffled and open at all times.
I like that lake pipes are now call side pipes.
Thanks for checking it out!
Nuthin says it like a BIG BLOCK
Had one of these beauties at one time and loved it.
I don't actually work for them. They are just nice enough to let me film their cars. It really is a great place.
Thanks for watching, my friend....this car really does represent America at it's best.
She's a beauty.
If that is the L88 you are wrong big time. They tested the L88 years later on many dyno's and the motor came back with over 500 bhp. The L89 wasn;t close to this hp. L-88 is a bad ass motor. Chevy under rated the L88 on purpose so teens would buy the L-89. Chevy needed the stock L-88 for NASCAR back then because it has to be a mass produced motor.
Yep another beauty, thanks for showing me, I'll take it.. :-))
Many years ago I heard one of these 435hp cars fire up and rev - beest sounding car of all time.
Glad you like it....it's one of my favorites too. Thanks for watching!
It does sound pretty amazing....you should hear it in person. This was one of my favorites.
Dude, your incorrect. Side pipes is the term used to describe pipes like the one's used on the Corvette. Although, Chevy simply called it "off road exhaust". Lake pipes are a term that refers to the long, skinny side pipes that you find on customs....that are often capped on the street. Do a google image search for Lake Pipes and you'll see what I mean.
6 barrel carbs...what a wonderful non-green world that must have been : - )

MY DREAM CAR🤩🤩
I ACTUALLY MELTED THE HOOD ON MINE!!! NOW IT HAS A GOLD HEAT SHIELD!!!
How did you melt your hood?
Honey hush!! I'd marry that car!❤️
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching, glad you found it interesting.
This car is beautiful too
Some people sell them off just so they can turn around and get something different. I'm sure this one will find a new owner pretty quick...it's an awesome machine.
435 hp in 1967......let that sink in lol😎
As an owner of a 1969 L-71 Corvette for over 50 years, I'm pretty sure your two outboard carbs aren't kicking in. Unless you really didn't press the accelerator, the '67 should be much faster...and louder than we see in this video. You should be able to feel and hear when all the carbs are wide open. Most common cause is leaky diaphragm.
Been looking for some evidence that the sound of the Mustang 390GT in the Bullit movie was actually dubbed over it from something else. The more I hear the 427 Chevrolet the more I think its a match.Especially in this 435 spec.
They did commonly do that in movies, so it's very possible. The audio for the Trans Am in Smokey and the Bandit, is actually from the '55 Chevy that was in Two Lane Blacktop and American Graffiti.
@@RamblinAround
Even the slow scenes in the movie, leading up to the chase with the 390GT, seem like a very close match with the sound of the big block Chevy specifically on side pipes.I also think that like the Charger there was more than one car and the ones used for the street chase scenes were autos not manuals.
Which is at least stated in the case of the Charger.
The sound effects seeming to also suggest manual shifts but which aren't shown on film by the respective drivers' actions.
A full race GT40.
I always liked the C3 Vettes for the Mako Shark styling, but this video is starting to convince me about the ‘66 and ‘67 StingRays.
Awesome ride💪
Well done. Incredible car. Thanks.
WOULD OF BEEN NICE TO SEE THE TOP UP , ON COOL CAR LIKE THAT
I'd give up my life long C-10 for such a car, in a year long swap, for that 'Vette!
Yep, it is one of my favorites...that baby really runs
I would luv the fastback with 427tri power
You could get optional head rests on the 67's.
Yeah, with the BB you would prolly need em when ya snapped yet neck from the torque
I'd write a review but l'm too busy drooling.
The newer muscle cars are nice and do have better street manners BUT. how can you beat that sound of a big block 427 at idle or full throttle. Yum yum. I want that bald guys job.
I drove one of these in 1989 while doing an Alinement on it. It had Rallys with BF Goodrich Comp TAs. It needed slicks. That fucker would spin all the way thru first and most of second.
If it was the 1960s, this is exactly the way I’ve have ordered up my 1967 - with 427/435 convertible with this color scheme. I might not go with side exhaust as they tend to burn ya (or your girlfriend). I also might put the spinners from the 1966 KH wheels on it. Today, I’d want the same car but as a restomod with an LS engine putting out about 500hp. The reason is that I’d want to make it a car that I drove all the time - and today its not practical to drive a 8mpg car requiring 98 octane leaded fuel (probably $6 gal now).
Older big block 'vettes are still better imo, both from a styling and power standpoint. Sure, the newer 'vettes make more power but they need a huffer to do it.
bingo!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah... new 'Vetts are killer but...man they lack the mojo of their grandfathers. Those rides were just filthy-mcNASTY. And...you better know what the fuck u r duin' behind the wheel. No traction control and big-ass radials to bail u out...
You're best video yet!
Awesome '67
Happy 100 yrs, Chevy :-)
Big block corvette enough said
Very beautiful 67 Corvette Stingray Convertible brother and that 427 Big Block sounds nasty brother.
the most counterfitted car in the world
That's a nice beast you got there.
such a sweet sound
