Not only is Everhood an amazing game with seriously creative Dev's, there is a full engine for creating and sharing custom battles as well. I cant recommend it enough.

Everhood is an awesome game and here's a little behind the scenes: As Aren played through Everhood, we were claiming songs from it to chart for Fuse Box because the soundtrack was just that good, and someone claimed this before I could. I was bummed but excited for the chart anyway. However, they had too much on their plate and knew I really wanted to chart it, so they asked me to chart it instead! Honestly I'm so happy with how the chart came out, and yes. You need to play Everhood. :p Much love Jason!

Ah yes, Everhood was an interesting game. I'm surprised I haven't seen the soundtrack charted until now. And of all of the songs, it's this one that shows up first no no you shouldn't be here you aren't supposed to be here. Well, since you're here anyway, allow me to reveal to you: This game isn't really like Undertale, but for one exception - I believe it's best played blind first, with as little knowledge about the game as possible, then re-explored after the fact (with the help of guides, wikis, friends, even chat) to see what has been missed. I'm actually not really sure where all the comparisons came from, it's like comparing final fantasy to legend of zelda, there's similarities if you look hard enough but there's more different than the same.
Frog battle really is good, I don't want to say much about it since I know my experience with it is probably atypical, but... But I played through it the first time it was available in the first run, via chance and obstinance. When I then played through the game "normally" after that, man, I was really surprised. Having done frog battle early, from a story standpoint I'm really not sure if I think it's better that way, or better after you beat the game a first time.
I remember watching it, wishing I could play it myself. But I avoided all spoilers so I could have a genuine good time. Fast forward to now, I immediately remember it and decide to buy it for my Switch.
Update. Got to the || Green Mage ||, fuckin love the dude. Also my first death was with the acid trip Gnomes. Second death yet to come. (Hard Mode btw)
I ended up watching your streams on playing the game, and I'm really glad to see that you tried it and really enjoyed watching you play, but I'm really deeply sorry to see that you didn't feel like you could go on with the game. For what it's worth, the game does have a happy ending and (at least most of) your questions about what's going on are answered by the end of it. You actually stopped right around the peak of the depressing heavy stuff, and then it starts to regress a bit back into more silly stuff. I'd really like to see you go back to it when you're feeling in a better mental health state and try to finish it. I promise it's worth the journey. The game is a lot like Undertale in that it really makes you feel bad for killing. Ironically unlike Undertale though, you're not killing because you want to, you're doing it because you have to in order to save them, like Frog had said. You can however choose not to kill anybody, and that gives you its own ending too, so you could always do that one instead--you'd just need to reload your save before you started killing though. If you decide not to continue playing it however, I totally get it. Just wanted to try and give ya some encouragement on the matter. Whatever you're going through mentally, I wish you the best and hope that things improve for you.

Would definitely recommend playing/streaming Everhood, but ngl I kinda think the Undertale comparison people keep giving the game's rather exaggerated? Granted the game itself doesn't quite help at the start with the first non-tutorial fight being a blatant Flowey reference, but overall it goes on to be wildly different thematically, tonally and the like to the point where said comparison feels really silly by the end of it all IMO.
Was it a flowey reference? Is that the fight I'm thinking of (outside the club) or am I forgetting one? A bit over-the-top maybe, but I wouldn't have guessed at it being a reference, from what I remember.
The ATM outside the club just has a face that feels really reminiscent of him, along with the whole "seemingly benign thing that's tries to trick you into letting it kill you at the start of the game" thing.

I'm so glad everhood is finally getting some time in the spotlight. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad Undertale got popular, but it kinda overshadowed every other indie game that came out around the same time period and it's truly a shame it's taking so long for them to get recognition
i heard bits of multiple custom chart composers in this. several parts sounded like Schmutz06 and i could definitely hear some ExileLord too. idk if whoever made the soundtrack was inspired by them or others, but you can definitely hear it

Everhood is a VERY good game. The entire soundtrack is amazing.
The game is very beautiful, songs have performances for them, and they can get very crazy.

Yeah tbh I never understood the comparisons aside from character movement outside of battles which is basic as an RPG gets
