Thank you for this video! As someone trying to get into CH it's super helpful to learn and now watching streams and videos is a lot more fun knowing what things are called and recognizing them in game.
I've played guitar hero pretty much daily for an hour or so since GH:Metallica was released and I still didn't know a lot of these terms. Everytime a new tech is found and named it's hard to find out what its even called. This video is awesome. Thanks for that
Good to know that the same pattern can have different names (I been using the term Running Man for Castles and I have seen Anchor before for parts like the TTFAF Intro)
when you're talking about quints, it's showing alternating ascending/descending quads on the screen, which lines up with your definition of taking up the span of 8 notes
I guess later that pattern gets defined as 'quint zig', but seems like 'quint zig' is made up of alternating linear quads, 'quad zig' made up of alternating linear trips, etc
What does vGH / vCH stand for? Using context clues I *assume* it's shorthand for "version for guitar/clone hero" because it's always an existing song that has been altered to better fit being playable in the game, but I don't know if this is actually what it means.
If I have played or seen a chart before, but it's been such a long time since I've last seen that chart that I've forgotten how it looks like, is it considered a sightread or playread when I'm playing that chart "for the first time" according to my eyes and memory?
Sorry to comment on an old video but for the term Hyperspeed, is that the same as the Hyperspeed in GH2? (GH3 was mentioned) When I got into the series, I was playing the games with a friend. He always used the Hyperspeed cheat and thats how I learned to play that game years and years ago. I dont know GH3 so I'm curious if its the same or similar.
Yeah uh what's the term for when you google the phrase "Modchart that doesn't make me motion sick " or when you constantly play on medium and *maybe* hard, or when you can't seem to pull your fingers off frets fast enough (I call it "sticky fingers"), or when you just suck in general, or when-
not HOPOs/Taps. with them, you can anchor a lower note by holding it down, and whenever you hit higher notes they will play and when you let go of the tapped higher note the anchor will play. this can also be shown at 2:31 where you anchor green and then tap the higher notes.
pretty late to answer but it's when a player loses a combo on a normally easy part of a song, usually when they had already gotten through the hard parts. take acai's crisis city choke for example
i know this video is old as hell now but what are squeezes? i see guitarheroROXS talk about squeezes in every single one of his video descriptions and despite playing this game for like 13 years now i have no idea what the hell they are (probably because i never really messed with scorehero back in the day but)
squeezes is abusing the timing window to get as many notes in a star-power activation as possible. aka, hitting the first note of the star power late, and the last few early to get extra points
Strum note -> The normal note. The one you see all the time. The one that's opaque and not glowing. Hammer-on/Pull-off (Hopos) -> The opaque notes that glow. These can be hit without needing to strum, but only if you hit the note directly before it. If you miss, you will be required to strum. Tap notes -> The notes that are almost transparent. These, like hopos, can be hit without needing to strum, but do not need to be hit in succession. If you miss the note before a tap note, you can still hit the tap note without needing to strum. Hope that helped. Oh btw, open notes are the purple line things
@@matiasv876 @Matias Vahervuori Those are the notes that glow white and have the black circle removed. You can tap those notes and not have to strum at all, but only if the note before it is successfully played, otherwise you'll have to strum it. The difference between the two are that hammer-ons are ascending notes, and pull-offs are descending notes. The GH3 in-game tutorial can offer a good visual lesson and explanation if you're still confused.
Hammer-ons and pull-offs are the white-topped notes. You can just fret them as long as you strum the required note(s.) You can also strum them like normal with no penalty.

For an example outside of the Soulless series, Paint It Black has Soulless Strumming without the HOPOs.
the whole point of soulless strumming is that it has hopos
An example from the main series games that actually has the hopos is Play With Me.

How about grace notes and forced notes?
Grace notes are a strum followed by a hopo right afterwards
Forced notes refer to a charting tech that changes a note from it's normal state to it's inverse, aka a strum to a hopo regardless of step/bpm
What is a hopo?
The white notes
I have seen the term “rgh” before on twitch chats. Is that related to guitar hero?
I don't think so

Whats FC Closer?
Is a vGH the same as an overchart?
Not really, it’s more a song specifically made/edited for Guitar Hero.
Zoruastrianism ok thanks, I was just thinking it was and overchart due to crisis city having it in the name

What’s ghost tapping?
If a song has sections that have no notes do they need to be played for a tech FC to counted?
no, because those have no notes in there, you would be wasting time
