Omg guys Mr. Biggie , the Notorious B.I.G sampled this and I didn’t realize it until now!!
Good catch!
Must admit, I was somewhat surprised you didn't catch it during the review. Now you won't be able to un-hear it.
The first time I heard "Hypnotize," I knew that echoed guitar lick from somewhere, but it took me a long time to figure it out (I was 13 when "Rise" was released). I can't help thinking it's no accident that "Rise" and "Hypnotize" rhyme. I just love your flashy ways.
😂😂😂 You was caught up in the song. Glad you went back for another listen 🤘
Daytime Soap Opera "GENERAL HOSPITAL" made this popular. The character Luke Spencer a Disco owner assaulted Laura Baldwin while this song played in the background. The two characters would later marry in the one of the biggest weddings on television in the 1980's. It would only be surpassed by the Royal Wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana! Other Alpert instrumental to be heard that followed were "Route 101" and "Garden Party". Saxophone player David Sanborn songs like "Bang Bang" and "The Dream" should be heard also. His saxophone sound is heard through out Rock like David Bowie's "Young Americans" and James Taylor's "How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You" and The Eagles "Sad Cafe". Also featured with Eric Clapton in the first 2 "LETHAL WEAPON" films.
I am 53 years old and remember when this song first played on radio. My parents would sway gently , dancing together in the kitchen. As i write this comment tears are running down my face. I don't have many good childhood memories in my life but watching / remembering my parents slowly dancing to this song in the kitchen is one of them. Thanks so much for reminding me of this song!
You almost brought me to tears with this. I am 32 and have the same memories of my parents when they used to play it at their family/friends gatherings.
I don't know how many people appreciate the talent it takes to play a horn as well as Herb Alpert could. I played a bugle and a trombone (just capable of hitting the notes). What I always appreciated about Alpert was his unerring SMOOTHNESS. Even when he's tickling the valves at speed, the transitions are so smooth... Most instrumentalists seem to make hard transitions so as to accentuate their speed, but Alpert plays it down. I don't know if it was due to genius or simply an appreciation of what subtlety can bring to music, but I love it. I have been a fan of his music ever since I first heard him when I was a child, sixty-some years ago. Amazing musician.
Herb Alpert owned A and M records and is worth $800 million, after giving away hundreds of millions. And he’s a sculptor and painter. And a great guy.
Herb Alpert is still alive and well, and these days is a major philanthropist who has given tens of millions to create and support arts and music education programs.
His 1968 rendition of the Burt Bacharach song "This Guy's in Love with You" is a classic.
Heard it in the Bates Motel TV show as well!
Speaking of 1968, they should do "Love is Blue" a very popular instrumental, an d a beautiful song.
It's beautiful but there's undertones of mysteriousness.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
My father loved Herb Alpert and The Tijuana Brass. I spent many hours as a child listening to Alpert's music with my Dad. Hearing this now brings back good memories. Thanks for reacting to this.
Me too. I can still see my dad snapping his fingers to Tijuana Taxi.
@@susiegines7314 Me too! Loved him, as I still have the Whipped Cream album with one of the sexiest album covers of all time!
@@lantose As a child, every adult I knew owned that album. Awesome cover even after all these years.
My dad had all his albums. Great band The Tijuana Brass
Yeah my dad was into instrumentals also and Herb was one of his favorites.
Alpert is the A in A&M Records. He was the gatekeeper for so much music.
Interesting fact that I didn’t know before! Thanks for sharing!!
Alpert is the only musician to hit No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 as both a vocalist ("This Guy's in Love with You", 1968) and an instrumentalist ("Rise", 1979). Mom would always tell us to put the stack of 8 LP's on the player and let them play while she cleaned house on Saturday. I would be playing in the basement to be out of her way, and the sound would come right through the floor. Loved everything he made.
He also had the 60sclassic "A Taste Of Honey"
I know he was the first but I don’t know if anyone has done it since.
Great memories!
Everything he did was a classic! No question! The only only group whose music lives on besides theirs is the Ventures. No other instrumental groups are better than these two.
Love this song, so:popular when I was in high school. Fun fact: Herb Alpert signed the Carpenters to their recording contract. We have Herb to thank for all these years of Karen and Richard to enjoy! Love you guys! ❤
Arista Records was the label.
@@RedBud315 Nope - the Carpenters were on A&M, the label Alpert started with Jerry Moss (thus the A&M name).
@@russellmaddox2437 I stand corrected. I was confusing with Arista formed by Clive Davis. At least it started with and A.
He also signed The great Gino vannelli.
@@jimpierce3138 Hey, Jim. I was just about to bring up Gino Vanelli in these comments, but I wisely decided to see if anyone else had done so already. Vanelli is one of the most brilliant musicians/singers I can think of. I remember when I first heard "People Gotta Move." I was a teenager from Arizona, living in Montreal (Vanelli's hometown). I heard it on a Montreal radio station, CKGM (Montreal's top-40 station) - and I had never heard anything like it on the radio before. The song was soooo innovative and intriguing, and his voice was distinct and pitch perfect. Incroyable!
Herb Alpert is STILL performing at 87 YEARS OLD ‼️‼️
🙂📻
"The Lonely Bull" "Tijuana Taxi" "Whipped Cream" are a few of Herb Alpert's many hit instrumentals.
You should check these newer versions of your favs! I think you'll like them.

Don't forget the beautiful "What Now My Love?"
My favorite album cover growing up in the 60’s
Spanish Flea
@@tinarex5836 That's my favorite but they did that one awhile ago.
Herb Alpert and The Tijuana Brass was one of the few places I could hide as a child, during a very painful childhood... it reminded me that there was beauty and gentleness in the world. Sergio Mendez was another... They were then and are now, class acts
Herb Married Lani Hall in 1973, one of the lead singers for Sergio Mendez, they are still married today... Lani sang 'Never Say Never Again' for the 007 film by the same name.
Arguably, one of the best instrumentals ever is 1968's "Classical Gas" by Mason Williams--a one-hit wonder. ELO also did one: "Fire on High"
I agree with BOTH of your recommendations--- each a classic!
Great songs
Yes in both of these!!
I totally agree 💯 %‼️
(( 1968 , the first time I ever heard Classical Gas - Mom and I were heading to a Dairy Queen. She had a ‘64 Chevy Malibu SS, and we had the top down.
I immediately fell in love with it. I was 7 years old.))
Fire On High: I don’t think anyone has ever done a reaction to it .
What a piece of music ❗️
Totally overlooked when looking at ELO.
📻🙂
The version with only acoustic guitar is best. The one with orchestra is good but doesn't showcase his talent as much.
This song went all the way to #1 in 1979. An big feat for an instrumental at that time.
The last instrumental that did that at the time was "Theme from Soul Train (The Sound of Philly)" by MFSB w/the 3 Degrees. The most recent instrumental to hit the top was back in 1986 with Jan Hammer "Miami Vice Theme".
This artist made some of the happiest music you can find. Always up beat and great to dance to. You should listen to another song by him called spanish flea.
(Spanish Flea)1965 should be the next for them. Good Suggestion 🤘
The 70's was a great time for music. ✌
And "Mae".
Well the beat is but the trumpet is sad lonely and melancholic.
Spanish Flea was the theme song for The Dating Game, hosted by Herb's friend, Jim Lange.
This is by far my favorite rollerskating music. Such good memories. Btw, Herb Alpert founded A&M Records with Jerry Moss. 💜💜💜
I would dance with my eyes closed and feel the groove! It was a big hit which I absolutely loved! I played it on my record player over and over again!
@@sheilameyers152 It’s so good! I still have my album. It doesn’t feel old at all. 💜
Great song. These days, it would qualify as “smooth jazz”.
Herb Alpert's ROUTE 101 is the best top down driving to California coast on a sun splashed day song ever written!
This dude is a music artist business pioneer. One of the first to own his masters and start his own very successful record company. The major record label A&M records. And his philanthropy in the arts for people of color is unmatched. He is a quiet name in the business with a huge footprint in the music world.
You should listen to "This Guy's In Love With You" by Herb Alpert. It was the song my wife and I did our first dance to as a married couple.
It is special because Herb Alpert actually sings and he is marvelous.
Love Herb. Saw him in 1966. My favorite is " This guys in love with you". The only song Herb sings on.
Actually there's another ' Without her', it's just about as good as the tune you mentioned!
A sample of "Rise" is the entire musical groove of the 1997 song "Hypnotize", recorded by The Notorious B.I.G. and co-produced by Sean "Puffy" Combs
I’m surprised Jay didn’t recognize that.
I've been yanking my hair in anger! I would have Put MONEY on them figuring it out! But... Crickets!!! I'm Sick to my stomach!
He got shot for not paying royalties
I think he was loving the song and just missed it. I think he will go and listen B.I.G. Can't catch them all 😄
@@exodia1510 Right?
Another horn legend who had slightly preceded Herb Alpert is Al Hirt, who had the instrumental hits, "Java" and "The Green Hornet Theme." The latter was the theme song for a 60s TV show and will have your jaws dropping with the way he plays.
I agree. The Flight of the Bumble Bee is very good by Al Hirt. You'll wonder how he fit in all those notes.
It’s tradition in my family to listen to Al Hirt play Ava Maria every Christmas for the past 65years. Even the young folks like it. 😊
Timeless, absolutely timeless. Love Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass!!!
Mom had one of his albums when I was a kid! Awesome talent!!! Try “Classical Gas” by Mason Williams from 1968!!🤘🔥
Great song!!!
I am always amazed that this guy was competing with the Beatles, the Stones, and all of the other 60's and 70's groups and singers. Yet he was able to top the charts along with them with his trumpet playing. I loved his music back then and still do.

Herb and the TJB are the best and finest jazz band on this earth. No band or musician even comes close. Herb is close to 90 and still going strong and can still knock anything he plays and the band plays out of the park. A musical legend among legends.
OMG haven't heard this for years!! Another wonderful piece of music from my 70s childhood. I love the entire composition with the array of instruments, so cool! I believe this was recorded in the 60's but for me it has a real 70s vibe & sound.
It was from 1979...
1979 I think.
Herb Alpert was a key person in helping The Carpenters emerge and showing the world how great Karen Carpenter's voice was--as well as Richard's skill in arranging their songs.
LOVE THESE HORNS!!! Herb Alpert is legendary!!
Instrumentals are great when they're played while you are doing something or with people doing something. It becomes scores to that scene in your life; all your own.
You should check out This Guy's in Love with You by Herb Alpert. It was his biggest selling song, a monster hit, and one that he actually sings on!
Another trumpet player to react to is Hugh Masekela, Grazing In the Grass. The vocal version by The Friends of Distinction is a must also. The Commodores` first single Machine Gun is also a fun instrumental. Lastly one of my favorites, Soul Finger by the Bar Kays.
Herb's nephew, Randy Badazz Alpert, wrote this with Andy Armer. When the 3M Company lent a 32-track digital recorder to A&M Records (then co-owned by Alpert), they had some time to experiment
This song was popular enough to get him to perform on Soul Train!! Another, similar, song from this album worth hearing is "Rotation"!
I was 8 years old when this song came out and not sure why, but everyone time I hear Rise, it gives me this nostalgia which is so hard to describe with words. When I hear it, I feel both happy and sad and the same time. This song takes me back to the late 70's and It transports me to downtown Los Angeles for some strange reason. I am so glad that the two of you are now aware of Rise. Thx.
The purity of his work is legendary. Class, class, class!
If you liked this instrumental, you'll also like Chuck Mangione "Feels So Good"
(#4 in the country in 1978)😎
They did it 7 months ago
Children of Sanchez
Herb Albert was not only an extremely successful music artist he also became one of the most influential record executives of the late seventies and into the eighties and beyond ✌️
He was also an early adopter of music videos, releasing videos in the 60s and 70s
Herb Alpert was the "A" from the A&M record label...
Herb Alpert was also the A in A&M records. Many great artists at this label. This song was almost a throwaway
Herb Alpert was big back then. The music is still solid these days.
A little something for Jay and Amber I'm a bit shocked you didn't realize that the Nortious B.I.G sampled this song from Hypnotized... Definitely listen to both back to back and you notice. However I will always love the original as it is for time to unwind and relax on a Sunday evening. Thanks for bringing a wonderful memory back.
I remember him performing this on Soul Train. Great instrumental! You should react to him and Janet Jackson's 'Diamonds'. Also 'Keep Your Eye on Me' another hit back in the 80s that was in heavy rotation on black radio.
Not only a great musician, horn section but a beautiful wife who can sing. Lani Hall
Lani Hall was a member of another of my favorite music groups, Sergio Mendes and Brasil '66.
Have listened to Herb Alpert and Lani Hall - Come What May? Awesome song and their love all over your screen
Another trumpeter to check out is Al Hirt.
He won a Grammy Award for his version of "Java" in 1964.
This Guy’s in Love with You should be the next song to listen to. It’s not an instrumental like Rise but it’s a good one also.
The "A" behind A&M records. If a human could sing through an instrument, it would be Herb Alpert with his trumpet.
Amber and Jay are rocking awesome T- Shirts. As a big comic book collector,I love Amber's Star Wars "Still only 35 cents" Tee. That's pure 1979,there, Amber.
Herb did a song with Janet Jackson on vocals called "Diamonds". Check it out!
His songs "Route 101" and "The Lonely Bull" are so amazing as well. Great reaction as is usual for the two of you.
Route 101 is also a funky disco gem. One of my all time favorites by him is, El solo Toro ( the lonely bull) love the trumpet melody.
I believe this is absolutely and positively one of the best jazz horn sounds ever totally love this when it came out back in 1980 and when I bought my first car would cruise with this song on my cassette tape.
Atre you kidding me lol Rise was a huge jam in the fall of 1979 .. The 80s had not even started yet lol
@@theodoreritola7641 It was a long time ago so I got my dates wrong instead of making fun you can just correct.
@@williamcalderon9158 Im sorry for give me. But a lot of people try to claim songs for the 80s which where actually 70s songs ,,Again for give me Im sorry
He said 1980. You say fall of 1979. You're seriously gonna call someone out for a 2-month discrepancy of a memory from 40 years ago?!
Do you realize what really difference is between the fall of 1979 and 1980? Two months. It was probably still being played on the radio in 1980!
You act like he got the century wrong.
A funny story I heard about this song is that Herb had been a record executive (he being the A at A&M Records) for like a decade and hadn't hardly played the trumpet. He had to go back and take some lessons before he could record this song. Even the greats need a little help now and then. His cover of This Guys in Love with you was a huge hit in the late 60"s were Herb sang. Quite a shock to people who grew up listening to his instrumentals.
I love Herb Alpert. Spanish Flea, A Taste of Honey & of course This Guys in Love!
Zorba the Greek Dance.
You've got to do the "Whip Cream and other Delights" "Taste of Honey" "The Lonely Bull" "The Spanish Flea" The Herb Albert"sound" was HUGH in the 60's...tv commercials..other bands trying to imitate the sound. He had a string of hits including "This Guys in Love with you" a MONSTER HIT and one of my all time favorites 🎵🎼🎶🎼🎵
The Teaberry Shuffle for Teaberry Gum!
@@dianafrost936 WOW you remember that😁😁
Lol yes I do!
@@dianafrost936 Great😁😁just watched it on UA-cam.
I think it's so interesting about Herb Albert And The Tijuana Brass is that from 1965 to 1973 in the USA they outsold The Beatles, Rolling Stones, every 60s band you can think of.
But how often do you hear them now or how many folks under 50 even know who they are?
At one point in 70s Herb Albert was the richest musician in the world because of his band and also his record label.
Alpert
As one of the founders of A&M records they produced many artists. Herb Albert received a demo that changed the lives of 2 young musicians when he signed them on his label. Those 2 are Richard and Karen Carpenter. He had a good ear for talent besides being a talented musician in his own right. I grew up in the 60's listening to the Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass's album. Whipped Cream and Other Delights. The Album had a pretty provocative cover picture for it's time. LOL
I remember that cover! My parents had the LP I would just stare at it thinking how? You hate Rise to end!
Herb Alpert is a fantastic artist.
This song and Grover Washington Jr's "Mister Magic" are two of my all-time favorite instrumentals. You can also check out Average White Band's "Pick Up The Pieces" and Kool & The Gang's "Summer Madness". You won't be disappointed!
Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass are part of the soundtrack to the late 60's early 70's.
I love that you had no idea of the break coming in. 15-20 years ago I compiled like 150 volumes of funk breaks just for my own interest. This is still a fav! I could list tracks for days but another one that would surprise you is "I Got The..." by Labi Siffre. Hip hop samples are such a great thing to know. From the 50's onward, all genres.
Thanks ! You have made this trumpet player happy. Louis and Herb were my inspiration. ❤🎺❤
He was the "A" in A&M Record and played on several Carpenters hits.
Gotta hear his fun duet with Janet Jackson: "Diamonds"
1986
jam!
Fun fact- Herb Alpert was not only a legendary trumpeter jazz musician, he also was head of A&M records, and gave a favorite group of yours-The Carpenters a major record deal in the late 60’s and had their first major hits with them …
The Lonely Bull
Spanish Flea
Tijuana Taxi
Amber, here comes your horns.🎺🎺🎺 What a great instrumental band from the 60's. I was lucky enough to have parents
who played their songs endlessy.
The instruments take you on a joyous trip that blocks the world out. Beautiful.
Great reaction. Buckets of Maple Syrup love from Canada ❤️❤️ 🇨🇦 🇨🇦
I would like to suggest Frank Mills Music Box Dancer for another instrumental track
@@6916dog Yes, such a beautiful song, written for his daughter. Amazing piano.
👍✌️😊🎶🇨🇦
I love Zorba the Greek the best!
You simply must hear his beautiful song “This Guys in Love With You” from the 60s, my all time favorite of his, one of his few songs with vocals. Dionne Warwick also did an amazing version of the same song, both were massive hits in the 60s.
Jay & Amber, You'll love Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass's "Lollipops And Roses", "Whipped Cream" and "The Spanish Flea"!!!! Every song on their Whipped Cream and Other Delights is GREAT.("a best of" album).
The songs are great but too short! I have most of their albums thanks to my parents.
At least 3 of their songs were used during different parts of the tv show 'The Dating Game'.
My dad had the album with the girl on the cover wearing whipped cream dress? I played it all the time!
@@canonfodder2068 that's the one!
You are ACTUALLY a fan... everyone else only knows this song and This Guy's in love with you or Spanish Flea 😥😓😥
Herb is a musical genius and artist. from mid 60's until mid 80's, he was the A in A&M records, a pretty large label for 20 years
I am flooded with childhood memories of Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass. They were huge. My parents played them all the time! It didn't matter how old you were or what genre you were into, everyone loved them! I highly recommend you keep going with them! Loved this reaction choice! Thank you! 💙✌
If you really want to hear something...check out Herb Alpert and Janet Jackson singing "DIAMONDS!!"
It is said that after the Tijuana brass days he put down the horn, it wasn't until years later when he did this, he had to retrain himself to play the Trumpet. You should check out more of his earlier work... "The Lonely Bull"!!
Herb Alpert was one of my dad's favorite artists from back in the 60's. We don't get many pure instrumental hits anymore, which is unfortunate. Anything by Herb, Chuck Mangione, Chick Corea and the like you just can't go wrong.
Herb Albert is a genius …. This song Rise was on a whole nether Level unlike anything he’s ever done !
Looooovvve this, such a great vibe. You can’t not move to it. He’s not a bad singer either, have a listen to This Guys In Love, big hit here in the UK in the late 60’s👍
They played this on the soap opera "General Hospital" back during the time Luke and Laura were together. I think they were dancing in a department store and had to keep ahead of the security guard. I remember they carried this out to a commercial. 1983? or some where around there. GREAT INSTRUMENTAL. GREAT MEMORIES!
Thanks for playing this!
Definitely an appreciation for a Hip-Hop fan. Been waiting to see Jay's resction at the 3 and a half minute mark. It'll sneak up on you but respect the sample!
Btw, it's Hypnotize Notorious BIG.
Prince don't sample!
I recall being at a hardcore disco in the Summer of 1979 and the DJ played this song and it changed the whole mood and disco as I remember it was coming to an end.
This is one of my three all-time favorite songs! I first heard it on General Hospital. I think I was in the 6th grade. Such a beautiful sultry mesmerizing song!
Two more great instrumental songs y'all might enjoy are Love's Theme by Barry White's Love Unlimited Orchestra and the Theme From A Summer Place by Percy Faith.
I was searching the comments for my fellow General Hospital watchers ❤❤❤
Unfortunately this song is associated with one of the worst incidents of this show. Can’t help but remember that awful scene from listening to this instrumental
Your right this was the song that was playing when Luke took Laura. My mom got me hooked on G. H. Back then I was a huge Dark Shadows fan.
@@BigCheifJJ Yeah, originally I had the word "haunting" in my comment because of the "rape" scene on the dancefloor. That scene was so confusing! Especially since they got married later on and were probably the most famous couple in daytime tv history. I was young at the time, but I thought she wanted to be with Luke. That show messed with a lot of people's heads!
GH ruined this song for me. I loved it prior to that- now, the minute the horn kicks in, it makes me uncomfortable. Haven’t heard it in decades….and I didn’t even recognize the name of the song, but the second it came on….cringe.
I heard it on General Hospital when it was played when Luke and Laura's son Lucky found out what happened years later. He played it to get at his Dad when he asked him to admit to him what had happened all those years ago.
This song came at the end of the Brass' years of hits and top-selling albums, extraordinary in the age of Rock. Surprisingly, when he tried vocalizing, he had a #1 hit with "This Guy's in Love With You", written by Burt Bacharach. Herb Alpert esablished the very successful A&M Records, discovered the Carpenters, among others, and married a beautiful singer, Lani Hall, from Brazil '66. "A Taste of Honey", Tijuana Taxi, and "What Now My Love" are some other classic hits from the Tijuana Brass. The cover of the album "Whipped Cream and Other Delights" is iconic and well-remembered.
Herb Alpert , ROUTE 101 is a MUST.. 🎺🎹🥁🎸🎵it was another Hit ..
"Rotation" is another killer track off the same album. Coolest dude with a horn, truth. Also sang on Burt Bacharach's "This Guy's in Love With You"
No one millions of people had never heard of Herb Albert before until this song was released it became a number one hit then all of a sudden the millions of people that didn't know about her Albert bought the song and the album and he became super rich and people bought up all his older albums Herb Albert was a legend in his own right with type of music he played but that's strange just one song attracted an audience of millions of more people had never heard of them before you rarely hear about that my favorite her Albert song is called beyond that's a very good excellent song
We used to dance to this on the dancefloors. A DJ would play this when the crowd needed to chill and slow down after intense dance music. A DJ would calm the crowd then build up the energy all over again!
I'm glad u are listening to this song perfect song he did this song on soul train as well
Herb Alpert is a giant in the industry . . . song writer, producer, performer, Label Mogul, performer - performer - PERFORMER. And best of all . . . a true gentleman loved by all who have ever come into touch with him.
I used to listen to my dad's Rise LP over and over. One day in the 80s when I was a teenager I went to an air show. After the flight portion was over, my friend and I were wandering around looking at all of the cool planes. We even got to meet Pappy Boyington! As we wondered, the background music they started playing was Rise. Just as I turned to my friend to tell him I had just listen to that song that morning, I swear I saw Herb Alpert himself walk past me! That was an awesome day.
I wonder if anyone else in the comments will remember who Pappy Boyington was?!?
Ace Cannon
"The Lonely Bull " was his first big hit
This is a gem. Another instrumental to enjoy is Apache by The Shadows.
I probably haven't heard this in 40 years. But as soon as it started, I remembered. Very cool piece. It was on the radio all the time when I was young. Thanks for playing it.
I absolutely love how y'all are open to all kinds of music. Y'all are my people
Same - grew up with my parents playing Herb & TB as a kid and kept all their vinyl :-D It was really cool to see Herb bring the groove and the funk to an older me in the 80's.
Herb started A & M records and signed the Carpenters and Janet Jackson to name a few
This has always been my favorite Herb Alpert track. Always played in my house… 🙏🏼💛✌🏼
I love Herb Alpert. He made smooth jazz COOL... plus I remember Luke and Laura.
My memory went directly to GH! 💕
I was 11 at the time this became big on GH.
Ahh, the good old days!
The “A” in A&M records! You gotta hear more of him both with and without the Tijuana Brass!
Loved Herb Alpert since I was a kid.
He actually sings a smash hit "This Guys in Love With You", a great love song, of course with the Herb Alpert horn kick to it.
I have been waiting FOREVER for you guys to hit this gem! ❤
Gato Barbieri is another horn smooth jazz legend. His song Straight Into the Sunrise from his Que Pasa album will have you swaying. :)
This song "Rise" by Herb Alpert was made famous due to the daytime soap opera "GENERAL HOSPITAL" initially. There was a scene where the character Luke Spencer assaulted Laura Baldwin in a Disco while this song played. Laura would later marry Luke in what would become the biggest wedding on US television in the 1980's only be surpassed by the Royal Wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana. Another 2 staples of Herb Alpert instrumentally are "Route 101" and "Garden Party".
Oh yes! Sean- T.y. now i dont have to type all that again!
Monster hit!
I think there's a song on this album called Diamonds, featuring a well known pop star from the 80's.
