Cumbrian Silage 2021. Raking, chopping, carting and clamping with the Ford/NH team (part 2)

- This second part of footage sees the Ford/ NH team tackling the larger fields and steeper ground. Steadily working away a NH 7840 turbo and Krone rake keeps just nicely ahead of the twin foraging team with the roaring Ford 8240 turbo almost drowning out the NH FX40 self propelled as it powers up the hill. NH 8560, T7.200 and T7.230 kept busy on trailer work (the farm’s TS115 turbo joined later but I missed out on that one) while a magnificent NH TM190 with Albutt buckrake fills the clamp with ease. 160 acres of silage gathered and a thoroughly enjoyable day out filming in Cumbria July 2021

Hi Jon. You’re not wrong there about it being a great place to work, imagine waking up to that scenery on a lovely summer morning!! Yes beautiful looked after machinery and the Ford 8240 is simply magnificent! What a sound from that 6-cylinder turbo engine through the straight pipe, sheer music to an enthusiasts ears! Yes loved standing at the clamp looking over the fields, so many different shooting locations that I was spoiled for choice. Good to hear from you again Jon, keep letting me know what you think! It’s a fantastic tractor! Don’t often see one in Cumbria so it’s great that this one is in pristine condition!

Nothing would blow like an Fx when it was a little moist but while prone to fire.Love the 40 series still my second favourite tractors after the TW's, 5 minute learning to drive a 7840 was my first tractor driving solo and then i got shifted to a 8240 later a 103-54 renault was an awesome day
FX still a great machine although so are the newer FR models. Yeh the 40 series are a great tractor, the last ones to wear the Ford name although I know the New Holland 60 and 35 series also had the Ford badge although less prominent. I bet that was a great day, unforgettable and those Renault 52/54 series were also great tractors.(haven’t seen one in quite a while!) Cheers, David.
@@davidwinthrop7077 60's and TM's i really like too i think i mentioned it before but there is a lad with a T7.270 Blue power here and she has notched over 20k hours a real animal. 35's are really rare here

Yes 60 series and TMs are great machines, lovely 8560 and a beast of a TM190 on this farm. Would like one myself, either a late TM125 or one of the last TM120/130s. That T7 blue power sounds a nice machine, obviously kept busy on 20k hours! Out of interest where are you based in the country?
@@davidwinthrop7077 Coleraine Northern ireland, the guy is hired into Lyons contracts with the T7 so yea he is busy all year carting either slurry and silage, he also bought a big Deere few years ago havent seen him drive it though supposedly it is away doing sowing etc. If you watch one of Grassmens vid's aabout Lyons you will see the 270.
Those 125's are animals Lyons had one pushing more power than their MXM 190 even after they fixed the boost failure on the 190 the 125 pulled like a train and so nimble was best tractor they had even better than the 130,140's and 155 only thing close was the 150

I’ll Google earth Coleraine as I love to see other parts of the world especially the countryside. Will have to watch the Grassmen video with that T7 and check it out. Yeh TM125 a great tractor as were the 135 and 150. Not as many of them about now and I’ve never seen a TM115. A lot less popular than the lighter TS115 with the same power!
