Great video Blackie, keep them coming! I carry toilet paper in my kit as essential. I have back issues, three herniated disks, so weight is a concern and most importantly for me weight distribution. I use a small backpack to carry my gear and I over analyze everything I take, still my load out is between 15 to 19 pounds with food; flashlight, first aid kit, cordage, pencil/paper, compass, 10x10 shelter, light hammock, mess kit, 2x qrt water canteens, fire kit, Leatherman multi tool, knife, small 22 pistol,, sometimes small alcohol stove or sterno can if I overnight. Did I mention toilet paper, this way I come back home with my socks.
Dear Sir, Great video. We Greatly Appreciate You Sharing Your Knowledge. The Silver Wolves Series ofl Your Videos is Superb! The techniques for the Haversack are very useful!
I like it when you empty the haversack on Bear's picnic table as spaghetti. 😆 Peace. We all get tangled up sometimes. It's my greatest enemy. I bet my local Cherokee and Susquehannock were all tangled up in leather straps several hundred years ago. Being a Silver Warrior isn't that easy these days.
Blackie, Great information and video, tips and tricks on the Haversack . You covered everything on what you need. I Greatly Appreciate You Sharing Your Time, Wisdom and Knowledge on The Silver Wolves Series and All Your Videos. Yes You Are The Master Woodsman and Bushcrafter. I'm a 61 year old Silver Wolf , U.S. Army Vet, and Old Boy Scout , Woodsman and Bushcrafter. Thanks Again. Tim L.
frankly i like a little depth in my haversacks (about an inch wide band between the front and back panel!) so you've got a digging room when you go to get something on the bottom! i'd add a piece of plastic (a cheap dollar store drop cloth or a garbage bag!) for when it's wet and you have to string up the 5x7 so you're not sitting in the mud and wet!
How much does that satchel weigh, with only the essentials you listed inside it? Btw, great videos! I stumbled across your M-65 video, and knew you'd be making some good content. Thanks for not disappointing
mr blackie, where can we see a schedule for your outdoor gatherings and pathfinders or any other gatherings like this for outdoor people. Would like to come and learn some from the old timers and meet you. I think I saw before you would be at a gathering in bama in march but I can't find that video anymore. Also when is blackbird combo coming for release....definitely would like one of those.
Hey Blackie, What was the name of your video about parcord.6 feet that you keeping your pocket. 30 feet for putting up your ridge line. I can't remember the rest of them. I truly appreciate all your videos. Thanks in advance.
Blackie I keep some hooks , line, and sinkers in my fire kit, I'll always find a place to catch fish I can't resist. Also I'm planing a survival challenge weekend in the Atchafalaya basin, on an island, just what you can bring in a haversack will be an experience for most just putting that out there if you or others want to come.
Thanks for the video Blackie. I've never used haversacks but I want to try it. It was kind of confusing of what exactly to put in one and not overstuff it. I have a Polish bread bag and Finnish gas mask bag, they are more in my price range right now and I've been trying to figure out what I want to put in them. 👍
Better too big than too small. I carry a Condor messenger bag, it's bigger than my haversack but not so big that I don't want to carry it. I appreciate the extra space in case I need to add more food or gear.
hi there, great video....id come across your channel here about a month ago....im out near the west desert of utah. i like the idea of your Haversack, never seen one before as ive just worked with packs, where can i get a good one like yours??
There are various takes on what to put in a bag for a given purpose. A BOB or bugout bag is what you use to get the heck out of dodge and get to your bugout location (relative's house, plot of land far enough away, Lord forbid a FEMA camp, etc.) There's also a get home bag which usually consists of what you need to get home from your usual haunts without the aid of a car; an overnight bag which is a backpack or ruck sack with all the essentials and a few comfort items for a weekend campout/hike; a day bag which is more inline with what Blackie describes in this video. I'm sure there are a bunch of other types of bags out there, the main difference will be the contents of the bag and the situation they are designed to help you meet. Peace and chicken grease ✌🏻&🍗
What kind of weight do folks have in their Haversacks? Mines a Helikon Tex Haversack and running about 6lbs, after a couple hours I can really tell it's there in the shoulder.
@@maxpinson5002 i think you're right. I think I'm going to empty it all out and see what I'm actually carrying in it.. I put things in there, little things, but 10 little things weight adds up I suppose.
15 to 18 pounds; two quarts of water in mil canteens, minimal cooking gear, fire kit, light hammock, 10x10 shelter, food, cordage, flashlight, compass, knife, first aid, pencil/paper, toilet paper, Leatherman multi tool w/ saw, small 22 pistol. I've tried using haversack but with any kind of weight to one side of my body it agrevates my back injuries, so a small backpack works best for me.
I AM NOT SAY AGAIN NOT!!! DOING ANYKIND OF GIVE AWAY IT IS A SCAM..!!!
thanks for watching
A great take on the 5C’s

My knapsack carries my food, shelter, and, clothing. My haversack carries my tools, fire, and, tequila.(I carry water in both). Dirty South.
Gotta be able to carry some kind of hooch. Just transfer it to non-glass.
I got a raging river haversack. I'm bad about over loading

Hi Blackie, greeting from Australia 🇦🇺, thankyou for your time to make these videos, muchly appreciated Thankyou, .
Hey Blackie, where can I get one of those Silver Wolves pins for my hat ?
Another solid volume for the Silver Wolves series. Thanks.
Maybe I'm missing the point. What about water or container?

Love both of my blackbird haversacks

Excellent overview. Thank you for sharing.

You can bet he will announce it again soon .. keep watching. And yes it’s worth going to .. beautiful place
Good video! I really appreciate the wider shoulder strap, too.
Awesome setup!
good info.
Hey Blackie, good stuff! Do you carry first aid items in your haversack? Food items? (Maybe a granola bar or two?) Regards and best, Pink

How about something like that kerrimore sabre backpack that has a net & a bend in it to keep it away from your back? Any makeshift versions of that?
I'm just curious why your 5 points differ from the 5 c's of survival?
Need some kind of first aid kit. Why? Because.
Water container?
Great advice but I have a question about differet bags/sacks whats the difference between this and a bugout bag?
About the same as the difference between a mountain bike and fully loaded F150
Both will get you to your destination.

What if you used the hammock itself as a haversack?
your not starting wax coated tinder with flint and steel. easily anyway ..
