Nice! It is always a great day when I manage to stumble across an awesome channel such as yours! It is always a delight to discover another cool retro computer inspired UA-cam channel, doesn’t hurt your channel comes along with two absurd & silly fellow certified delightful nut cases such as yourselves (Huhzah! I have found more of my people!), keep on crushing it! You two are an absolute riot! Thanks for making this my best 1:00am random discovery in ages! 👏 👏 👏 😂
Yay! I picked up a NABU, myself, and it's been a lot of fun for a computer I had never heard of before a few months ago. ;-) BTW, the in-game instructions on all the games (that I've checked so far) are actually pretty complete, containing not only basic game instructions, but also descriptions of each "wave" / "level" of the game, tips and tricks for winning, and point values for (I think) all possible point-changing actions. I only remembered being really bad at "Miner 2049er" on another system many years ago, so I ended up reading the instructions for it on the NABU, and that helped a lot, lol. I also have "Antarctic Adventure" on cartridge for MSX, and it's pretty much identical. I find it fun but surprisingly difficult (those darned seals!).
Oh no the check engine light is on! LOL! Too funny! Welcome to the NABU owners club. Thanks for submitting your serial number to the NABU Network serial number database.
Hi Girls, since you loved so much "Antartic Venture", here are some facts: this game was a direct port for the MSX original game, Antartic Adventure. This game was one of the firts games of Hideo Kojima at Konami. After that game, Pentaro (the penquin of the game and also the MSX mascot) stars in another game, and its FANTASTIC, and everyone shoud play: Penguin Adventure. A much more complex take on that concept, with a lot of itens, secrets and easter eggs to discover, one of the bests games to MSX computers.
🤣 I too was bullied into the NABU family! Antarctic Adventure is pretty fun, you gotta push forward to run faster and complete the course before time runs out. RetroTech Chris seems to be the best so far
Glad to see you back, and I'm happy to see you got one of these. I've been eagerly awaiting the shipment with mine in it, and have already built my cable and spent a while fiddling with the emulated version in Mame.
@@fractalMD , Why yes it is! I hope you two are having a great time. Was starting to worry about you two since I hadn't seen any videos. Glad to see you two back at it :)
Loved watching you all playing Miner 2049'er for the first time and trying to figure it out. It was like when I had my kids play Commodore games for the first time. Good stuff! Love the energy! Keep it up, and glad you are back!
A Nabu!!! I bought one too, still in the box. Been dealing with a bunch of other retro computer projects, like my Apple II restoration.. lol.. Looks like Leo and folks have gotten pretty far getting the network up and running. Awesome.. I've been kinda of waiting until I could actually use it.. lol.. Glad to see you guys back. Keep an eye out on my channel, I'm doing a shoutout video and I gave you guys a shout out!! Cuz y'all deserve it.. Great content.. Keep it up!!!👍👍👍
@@fractalMD ok ok ok, I bought one ... for only US$80 ... plus US$135 shipping & tax to Australia ... I better have as much fun with it as you guys did! 🤣😂🤣
In Miner 2049er, picking up the items (I.e. the Shovel) is like a power pill in Pac-Man, so you can then touch the baddies to kill them. You’ll notice they changed green when you picked up an item, then after a while they’ll flash before return to baddie status) And yes the aim is to fill in all the steps.
Arctic Adventure is one of my favorite on my ColecoVision. You have to push forward on the joystick to run faster or you will never finish the stage in time.
The company who created the NABU should have gone with the ZILOG Z800 processor as it is backwards compatible with the ZILOG Z80,ZILOG Z80A and would allow you to run all the Z80 based games as well as ZEUS which was a version of UNIX for the ZILOG Z800.
I love the aesthetic... It's dark and sleek, unlike nearly anything else from it's era. Too bad it got no foothold in North America, much like any MSX-based machine. Kind of an untenable network to manage in the mid-80's. Great work as always!
Only heard of the NABU a week ago (and I had no idea what the heck it was, until this video) and now everyone is talking about it everywhere. Anyway, it's great to see you both back ;) that penguin game is the original Tux racer in Linux (exactly what you said Amy) but made easier. You guys have got to give Circus Charlie another chance, that's one of the best games ever (in my opinion) no, but really do, give it another go. Miner 2049er is fun too. Are the only games and software the NABU has is what's available on the sudo cable or can you connect a tape or disk or something? Anyway, it's great that you're both back. Thanks for sharing it was fun ;)
I mean, it's crazy out here on the bleeding edge of retro! The winter break went a bit longer than expected. 😃 That's crazy it was a legit Linux reference. But i knew I was getting Tux vibes. Circus Charlie likely a bit less hectic when I have a working joystick the whole time, heh. We'll have to give that and Miner 2049 another go off camera for sure. Not sure about what else you can hook up to the NABU at this point, but since you can't swing a dead cat without hitting one right now, no telling what kinds of stuff in the pipeline. Btw, I saw your pac man arcade video. That thing is super cool!
Hope you enjoyed your break. Having seen it in action I think I'll give the NABU a miss. According to the interwebs "Nabu is the Babylonian god of wisdom, learning, prophecy, scribes, and writing and was also responsible for the abundant harvest and all growing things. His name means "the Announcer" which refers to his prophetic and creative powers in calling forth words, the harvest and other plant life, and the visions of prophecies." or (Natural Access to Bi-directional Utilities) if you prefer.

Welcome to the madness! Action Retro is definitely a stand up guy. So glad you found us. :)
Thanks that was fun. Good old 8-Bit fun only Gen-X appreciates. I'll have to break out the NABU at the next house party.

If you had also been sent the Network Adapter and Nagravision Authorization Card then you would not have had all the problems DJ Sures had.
We made sure to wait long enough everyone else did the hard work so we could mooch off of it. 😉
Glad you ladies are back.
