In a 9mm it is impressive but....... in a 357 Sig it is never noticed! Go figure. What is impressive is the 357 Sig loaded with Grizzly 125 gr ammo and 125gr Underwood ammo gets 1500+ fps velocity with 630 ft. lbs. of energy! I find that impressive.
I can't belive those cavities are from a 9mm. Crazy how far ammo development has come.

The bullet did well but the real magic happened when they turned it into a quasi 357 Sig. The pressure it’s operating at has got to be eye watering.

That is considerably punchier than the +P+ 9BPLE we carried back in my LE days (that most of my 9s are still loaded with). That Grizzly stuff is amazing.
Yeah, the Underwood +P+ 124 was the spiciest 9mm I have run until this. This is a tad stronger.💪

Another great performance ammo out of both barrel lengths. The MC9 brought the smackdown. Grizzly - Kodiak out growls most of the competition. Great test and commentary. Good test, buddy! I love it when a manufacturer hits a home run velocity wise! Plus they did pretty good in the gel, which is always nice to see. I'd personally like to see a bit more penetration in Glock shot, any lack due to expansion. That's one of the good things about the copper rounds, if they get them going fast enough. This seems to be pretty good ammo all told and I'd feel just fine carrying it!

Grizzly makes great ammo. I use it in a 45 acp, 230gr +P at 1000 fps out of a 5". They use to make 185gr at 1200 fps but discontinued it for some reason.

Great demonstration of two bullets penetrating differently because of velocity! The higher velocity caused earlier and greater deformation and less penetration. The greater frontal area dissipated the energy more quickly.

If you haven’t already, you should check out the G9 Defense 124g +p Woodsman round. The penetration and cavity expansion on that round is better than anything else in 9mm

I've noticed that feeling with certain loads in certain guns. My Glocks dont seem to cause that issue. I think Glock uses less glass in the polymer blend and it produces a softer polymer that absorbs the vibration.

About 20 years ago I read FBI statistics of 1 shot stops in actual law enforcement shooting. Federal's 9BPLE 9mm +p+ rounds were the top performer with the same advertised velocity as these. The difference is that bullet technology has come a long way since then in terms of lead alloy and lacket bonding. The 9BPLE rounds tended to fragment. I suspect that these rounds would be even more effective because of the better design. Still, the 9BPLE is a very effective round based on real world results. Energy matters.
I've always wondered if fragmentation isn't necessarily a bad thing as long as penetration is adequate, which it is in BPLE tests I've seen.

Most impressive 9mm test I’ve seen. I ordered some of this ammo today and can’t wait to try it out. Will most likely be ordering more. I like a hot, fast 9mm in 124 grain. I also want to try their 40 cal 180 grain jhp. Grizzly’s website list the 180 jhp at 1125 fps with 506 fpt energy
I am a 45 guy and I got to say DAMN! THAT REALLY WAS IMPRESSIVE!!!! Excellent. I will definitely buy this if I find it. Sadly, in NJ, the moron state, we can not carry hp. Otherwise, this would be on my 9mm top carry rounds. Thank you my friend. I will be writing that article finally and will be including your site. When I do, I will email you the link.
I reload 45acp , there is reliable,safe & verified load data with slower burning powders that will send a 230gn J.H.P. out of a five inch barrel at 1,050 F.P.S. and the pressure is not even in the +P range , they produce very impressive results in gel blocks. There is load data that will send 200gn .45 bullets at 1,200 F.P.S. . We have a shooting range club and we have never had an issue with them, all us .45 guys carry them for defense .
Thank you for the reply and info. 95%of the time I carry .45 1911 5 inch. I use the Hornaday Critical Duty 220gr +P. Maybe someday when freedom return here or I am fortunate enough to get the money to move, I will be able to carry HP's. I do reload, rifle only currently, but someday I will get into pistol as well. I definitely will search out that load data. Thanks again.

This is some seriously hot 9 mm ammo, approaching 357 mag levels. The only concern is wear and tear on the guns. Some guns are not rated for +P+ 9 mm ammo. But for those who are, this is some serious defensive ammo, which might even work in bears. Thanks for another great video.
I love grizzlie ammo. I have some 360 grain hardcast for my 460s&w. Moving at 1900fps, that almost 2800fpe. Thats 3006 energy from a handgun. They go through 3/16's in plate steel. Not just piercing it but tearing through it with a BIG! jagged hole.

Looks like it may be a bit flashy though. This may necessitate a low light showdown with the UW +P+.

😎👊 It's actually the new Canik mag they came out with for it that gives a full grip fit. It would be totally flush on the back if I had the smaller backstrap on.

I've used grizzly ammo for a few years now. They're definitely hot, I've shot 124's 9mm, and most recently, I've shot 160 gr spbt I'm 7mm rem mag. It's got some heat packed in there. I hand loaded some speer 160 gr spbt over a stout charge of IMR 4831. It bloodshot the rib cage of a nice black tail buck here in southern Oregon. Interesting enough, griz is manufactured here in Oregon too. This 9mm 124's look like a speer bullet or Hornady xtp. First time I let loose with a griz 9, I was a fan for life.
That is absolutely incredible performance! That is like run of the mill .357 Sig speeds.
Grizzly's offerings in 357 Magnum are amazing. Even the 40 S&W is the fastest I've seen.
The old black talon was wicked also. They stopped making it with the poly coating but continued producing the round. Winchester stop making it also. I have and carry some of the last ones they produced. +P+, it's wicked also.
That will be my winter carry load for my Canik TP9SFX.

Great video and info! I’d love to see these compared to Underwood’s 90 gr +P Xtreme Defender rounds.
I was lucky enough to grab up a bunch of this stuff when Bi-mart had it in stock for quite some time. This 9mm as well as its 10mm counterpart. The only cartridge Ive ever bought that actually OVERPERFORMS the box numbers lol! The 10mm version I found was both a 200gr. FMJ/hard cast lead and a 200gr. HP. Velocity on both were nearly identical at 1325 to 1350 FPS. 5" 1911.

I keep Grizzly 45 Long Colt in my Circuit Judge and it’s a soul taking round. Hadn’t considered their 9mm offering. I’m thinking maybe this stuff in the PCC would work better me personally. Generally shy away from running it in the pistols. Nothing wrong with +p+ in pistol, it’s just me. Nice Job! ( Here waiting for winter too. lol ) Thanks for the review.
I just Tested the Grizzly Kodiak 115 Grain +P+ in ballistics gel rated at 1400 FPS and 501 Ft/lb energy inflicted a 3” wide wound channel and 13” of penetration wiff .72 caliber expansion pretty much EXACTLY THE SAME!!! Results you got. The DoubleTap 115 Grain +P bonded defense was the only load to out perform these. Grizzly and DoubleTap make 9mm loads that will kick the living day lights outta any .40 or .45 outta from a short barrel 3.1” M&P shield
