This engine is going down for its 1472 FRA Rebuild, it’s a mechanical mess in its current state and is in DESPERATE need of this rebuild, the operating crews are rough on her, it’s a miracle she didn’t have a major mechanical failure in her service since 09, they say they want her back up and running by mid 24-early 25 but I really think they should take their sweet time with this engine and delicately restore her, she’s a great engine, one of my personal favorites
You're right. 3415 looks like an engine that's outside since the 2000s, poorly handled, and we might get another Gettysburg 1278 from her. Not to mention that she slipped on a flat terrain without cars and on a regular basis had dark and dirty smoke. Thank the Heavens that the C&TS (Cumbres and Toltec) contacted the Smoky Valley, so 3415 can look like 3751, and she can run at more than a measly 15 mph.
@@TGPilar I'm alarmed that she's been approved. She sounds like she's maintained by 5-year olds. She needs a FULL restoration before a return to operation.
In addition to performing the overdue maintenance (and painting) can the owner of this engine find some people who will operate her without abusing her? She will last longer if she's operated by people who do not act like teenagers!

LOL all these "experts" in here saying she's in bad shape and that we'll have another Gettysburg incident.

Look awesome. Im going to Kansas this winter. Hope to take a couple rides..
Jesus she’s in rough shape
Beautiful locomotive!!
From the look of it, it doesn't seem entirely safe! You don't want a firebox meltdown or boiler explosion, no you don't.
0:30 #3415 survives the accident in 1924.
Santa Fe 3415 Steam Locomotive

Wheelslip multiple times on an engine with no load, jeeeeez. This poor thing is in ROUGH shape and not being cared for.
Would you rather have a shop queen?
3415: I’ll be back!
Some of the poorest engine handling I've ever seen. It needs another crew.
