I think one thing they could have done to improve freaky fusion is, oh, I don't know, bring in the hybrid monster who's been here for awhile!!! Literally the perfect chance to bring in Jackson Jekyll and Holt Hyde again. Why!!!???

My thing with Friday Night Frights is that yes the message of girls can play sports too is good but... they're doing roller derby. That's already considered a girl's sport. It's like saying that message and then having it be about volleyball or gymnastics or figure skating or cheerleading. I think the message would have worked better if they were trying to get on the casketball team or something.
I watched these movies with my daughter when she was little. 13 Wishes was the first one we watched. I thought it was so unique. I could watch it anytime. I did enjoy the other movies too. This post makes me want to watch them all over again:-)

Ghouls Rule was my first MH movie, and remains my favorite. It's the only movie that really makes the 'humans v. monsters' a big issue. When we get things like Scaris and FCA or Book York, it's like the 'human world' doesn't exist. And while I love the puns and jokes and stories for each of those, there was a lot that could have been done with the VonHellscreams and other human characters. I liked how it centered Jackson, since he is the embodiment of the clash between the two worlds. We don't get anything else until the reboot that really has the monsters' world abutting the human world in such direct ways.
In terms of doll line... probably Haunted, with FCA and 13 wishes tied for second. Though my favorite movie tie-in doll is GR Frankie. That look is perfection.
SS Ghoulia may have been everywhere, but SS Gil was impossible to find, and the only Gil for a long time. I don't like his character much, but I was so glad when he came out in the gamer 2-pack with Deuce, so I could have a 'basic' doll for each of them - didn't start collecting until wave 3 with Operetta.
There was a Gil in the Dance Class 6pack. He was the only Gil Ive ever come across in person (as far as I can remember, I was 7-9 years old while first collecting)
I always liked Boo York specifically because it's one of the only movies to show us the girls' parents
And the songs. The songs are great.
13 wishes is the one I remember the most vivdly . It was just really well constructed , very fun , the characters' depictions were on point and it had a really climactic ending. The other films are fun , but they just don't seem as professionally done.

I grew up on these movies lol. I loved them so much. My favorite one was probably Frights Camera Action! because it was so interesting to learn about Draculaura's past and the royal vampire lineage. And vampires in general. The overall plot and storyline was amazing. I also really liked Ghouls Rule, Freaky Fusion, 13 Wishes, and Haunted

Jokes aside I really loved hearing you talk about all the different MH films! Some are definitely better than others, and hearing other people talk about them in a way that shows actual care rather than just brushing them off because they're doll films is so nice. I mostly agree with all your rankings and comments, and yes, Cleo steals the show in pretty much everything.
Ghouls Rule is my absolute favorite, but I think that on a technical level 13 Wishes is the best. Especially because it's side plot actually connects to the rest of the movie.
Freaky Fusion is a hot mess, but it is *my* hot mess. I agree that the stuff in 1814 is probably the best part of it.
Haunted, Scaris, and 13 Wishes are my favs for sure! Also completely agreed on FCA, it felt like way too many plots were going on at once. It did give me some of my favorite dolls, though. Honey Swamp was my first MH doll!
I have a theory about why Frankie can create life in Electrified. For Frankie, electricity is her life; it's what flows thru her veins instead of blood. When she was discharging the excess electricity from her body, some of this life-giving electricity was also expelled, which is what created Znap (who I think classifies as a lightning elemental but I'm not sure).
I've the same top 2! personally I enjoyed Skull Shores a lotdue to the whole scenario in a island and the fashions, the whole concept of the black and white Frankie doll was so cool.
That being said, Sweet 1600 is my favorite movie line - mostly because of Cupid lol
i was OBSESSED with 13 wishes as a kid. i rewatched the movie so many times, i watched let's plays of the game, i had both the draculaura and clawdeen 13 wishes dolls. i don't know what it was, but something about it just had a hold on 10 year old me.
i gotta rewatch it now, man.

Ok, finished video. Great video! All your points are well made. My ALL time favorite is definitely 13 Wishes… everything about it I loved, characters, creepy tie in to Brothers Grimm, EAH sneak peek, Gigi & Whisp relationship. Cleo being humbled… love it. I watch this Dvd at least 3 times a year. It’s my feel good movie. And then I do like Boo York. Basically because I love Cleo and that story is Epic. Also that hair Nefera had totally bothered me too! Eewwww. The tattoo I didn’t know about or catch. I’ll have to undress her to see that. I’ve literally never undressed my OG Nefera… Ha! The others (movies) I watch depending on how I feel. I like the tiki people from Skull Shores , I did like ALL the Hybrid Dolls , especially Avea’s Doll and I really like The Elissabat Character and Doll. Sadly I don’t like Clawd or Draculaura… they’re my least favorite characters of every character created in the franchise- although I love the Dolls of them😅🥺. Thanks for doing this Video. Such Nostalgia. I’m glad to know I’m not the only one who does a MH Marathon.
The lack of Abbey love is painful, shes always a highlight of the movies for me but they never gave her a lot of attention.

seeing her just fading away from the other characters, at the point she didn't even appear in other films is so sad for me...she has a really cool lore that could be more explored, really sad..
I love Haunted. Kiyomi is my favourite design.

I was literally just telling someone I wanted to rewatch some of the MH movies last night! Why Do Ghouls Fall in Love will always be my number one, so I'm glad she got some recognition here
Ghouls Rule was the first Monster High movie I ever watched and it’s what introduced me to the series. 13 Wishes, Haunted and Friday Night Frights semented my love for the series. However, still to this day Ghouls Rule and Freaky Fusion are tied for my number one favourite and the ones I watched the most. I still respect your score for Freaky Fusion since I do agree some of what you said about in the sense they should have focused on the actual hybrids more (I still love all the other Monster High movies though in their own way).
Freaky Fusion was one of the movies that surprised me that it ended up so low. I knew it wasn't my favorite, but like almost all the movies here I still loved it in its own way 😭 But that's just what happens when you gotta rank things!

For the great scarier reef i think it was colours that really put me off, everything was so bright and neon that the characters just blended into the background and their designs where just lost.
I'm frankly amazed how they went through this many movies and never had Wilbur Whateley. He would have been perfect, he's basically what they would make if they made a character based on the Lovecraft mythos.

Loooove this video. Tbh i think my favorite MH movie is probably why do ghouls fall in love. I really like Valentine and Toralei semi teaming up and they added Toraleis talent of mimicking voices. And clawd and draculuara are adorable to me. Favorite doll line..... Either the very first wave or monster Exchange. Since the draculuara from that line is one of my favorites.
Love Exachange Draculaura! I didn't have her in there with me, but she's the only other MH doll I have left over from my old collection

Love this! Haven't finished watching your video yet, but just wanted to pause and mention that I liked what they did with (fresh water) Lagoona in 13 Wishes. The way she behaves reminds me of so many women, young and old, who will do anything (even sacrifice their own identity, or have babies they don't want) to make a romantic relationship work. She reminded me of the 50s housewife trope, and if you ask me, we still haven't made that much progress since then when it comes to heteronorms and relationships /the nuclear family /expectations of procreation and the pressure to conform. I think FW Lagoona in all her ridiculousness is a great warning example! Don't be like her.
I was an adult when I discovered monster high and watched all the movies, etc. My favorite will always be Frights Camera Action! It's my favorite MH movie, but it also gave me some of my favorite dolls
P.S. My favorite movie doll line along with FCA is Haunted, without a shadow of a doubt
My favorites are Fright on, yes I know it is unpopular and kit that good but hear me out… it has a lot to do with old America, the werewolves being black people and the white people being the vampire’s. And the way that they were getting along better but when van helsing brought up the history of the races they started hating each other, or how they made segregation just based on racial stereotypes. The movie was super realistic and that’s what I loved about it.
My other favorite monster high movie is why do ghouls fall in love, I just love the movie though it was a bit Stereotypical.
My favorite monster high doll lines are sweet screams, schools out and dawn of the dance. I just love candy themed lines and especially it’s dark twist to it, I’m just sad they were never released in my country and I’d have to pay scalper prices for them.
I love the 80s Vibe from the line and the Frankie of that line is one of my favorites.
Schools out is such a nostalgic line for me. I just adore draculauras harajuku fashion in the line. And this clawdeen is also one of my favs
Sweet Screams, School's Out, and DotD are some of my all-time favorites too! I always wished the ghouls would have kept their Schools Out looks as their primary outfits- they just have so much personality and I actually prefer them to Wave 1 tbh

Love this! I have actually never seen any Monster High movies or the webisodes. I only started collecting the dolls this year. I'd love to see these tho, I have to see if I can find these in Finland lol. Great video, I love your channel! I hope you do a rating of all the Monster High doll releases someday!

I’m original monster high lover, i literally didn’t eat in school for weeks to buy mh doll, and, when I het older, I build my personality and style around draculaura and elissabeth, but I literally ADORE animation in reboot. older 3d animations seems a little bit blend for me, who watch near every cartoon I could find, but newer style just seems more recognisable.

I LOVED 13 Wishes as well, but I got BEEF with that movie at the same time! With Lagoona being my favorite character, I was so disappointed with what they did to her😭 and I don’t like her relationship with Gil that much either, she deserves better in my opinion. I hate that with this movie, they put her on the sidelines and her character was just “Gil, Gil, Gil”. It annoyed me because she is so much more than that! They did her so dirty with this movie😭
Not to mention the amount of orientalism in it

My first Monster High movie was “New Ghoul at School.” I remember being in fifth grade, coming home from trick or treating, watching it and just being mesmerized.

The only character I remember from Frights, Camera, Action! is VooDude. A nice comic relief, I liked him.
LOVE the haunted line. Something about the translucent plastic for their skin is just fantastic.

monster high was a HUGE special interest of mine when i was younger, watching this made me really wanna rewatch my favourite movies!
So, It just occurred to me that I did see all the movies from the 'Why do ghouls fall in love" all the way to the reboot. I remember liking most of them with "Escape from Skull Shores' being my least favorite and '13 Wishes' being my favorite. Mainly because that movie is one of the ones I never forgot despite It being mostly years since I've actually seen it.
I love that you love Cleo! She's my favorite ghoul. Maybe you could make a Cleo-centric video, showcasing + discussing her media and or dolls?... Like one long homage to her? I would love that

Oh in case anyone likes these movies they are streaming on tubi tv app. It wasn't dancing. Lagoona had stage fright because the. Villian tied her shoes together before a performance that caused lagoona to mess up.
I've only seen 13 Wishes and Welcome to Monster High in full and I loved 13 Wishes (especially since I saw it on my 10th b-day)! I'll definitely be checking the others out! :D

I love the Why Ghouls Fall In Love film, I really want to get the Kieran Valentine doll but it's a shame it's so expensive for me to get at this current point in time, hopefully in the future I'll get him. He does come in a two pack with Wisp (If getting in box) so I'll probably look for one out of box of just him.
The Valentine face sculpt isn't my most favourite but I just love his character anyway for me to put that aside.
I wasn't able to buy the dolls as a kid due to being brought up as a JW and especially with people listing the dolls rare on Ebay (Darling Dollz did a video on Bratz dolls 'rarity' so that's what I'm going off from, I just can't justify paying £60 plus shipping to buy a doll when I work for minimum wage.)
Monster High really means a lot to me especially the webisodes. I remember being around 12 or 13 staying up late at night and watching the webisodes on my ipod but I knew I could never be outwardly expressive with my love for it due to being JW at the time.
I highly doubt that in the new MH reboot 2 Electric Boogaloo would include Valentine but even a little reference to him would really mean a lot to me. 😊

13 Wishes has been my favorite since it came out. The underwater one focused on Lagoona is second and *Haunted is my third.

Why do ghouls fall in love is my ABSOLUTE favorite, even since I was a kid. Though Frights Camera Action has a place in my heart because Skelita is my mom's favorite non-main monster high character (she collected mh with me but mostly the collector dolls lol) Boo York is also one of my favorites just for the nostalgia of it. I even owned the CD! :D
13 wishes was my first monster high movie as a kid and I liked it but I do wish they showed the villain again and not threw her away into the water to never been seen again. Like why did they try to give her a chance if they just said screw her and never showed her again?
I only started collecting Monster High dolls as an adult and I’ve never seen any of the films, but as someone who always loved MyScene and Bratz movies, I’m kind of tempted to watch the MH ones - especially when I have dolls from that line

I legit own a DVD of every single Monster High movie. Also Draculaura has always been my favorite character. Though Robecca and Rochelle are close to the top too. I also really love Spectra and Operetta. I wish we got Operetta in the movies because I love Phantom of the Opera.
