Every time I hear this song I can't help but to reflect on my experience. WL2 is a game about living in the suck; a group of individuals that have the weight of the world on their shoulders for far longer than anyone should ever have to bear, making the best decisions they can as they're dealt one bad situation after another. Some weirdo has something you want or need but you have to do something for them first, etc. I've played the game so many hours (I think my Steam hourly count is at something like 90+ hours) that it actually kinda feels like I've lived through it as they did and when I hear this song, I can't help but to just sit back and reflect on all the locations and people I've encountered in the game. All the weirdos and the difficulty in pursuing a peaceful outcome and keeping the balance, all the while the group of Rangers you are leading trying to keep their "fictional" (as it is a game after all) hope and spirit positive in a world that becomes harder and harder to do so. It's a story of duty, and sometimes it's even a story of loss in a helpless kind of way, but one way or another, it will most definitely leave a lasting impression on you and leave you with an experience you won't forget, and that's all any gamer can really hope for out of any game and I can think of no better song than this to play during the credits.
Holy shit man, you got a credit song. A credit song which sounds really fucking awesome. Good job Gav! I love it. How long have you been dying to release this?
One of the best post-apocalyptic songs I've heard. It has that dusty/western twang to it that you associate with the fallout games, and post-apocalypse movies in general, and enough metallic/industrial sounds to distinguish it from being just western music. Very well done!
Thanks! There are a few subtle changes in this version for the game: The line 'Leather made my skin' has been changed to 'Raging chambers spin', which to me is less lyrically clumsy and fits in with the previous line better. Outro is now longer & more atmospheric I tweaked the mix a little to give more emphasis to the ambient, creepy synths/atmospheres to make the whole things feel more 'post apocalyptic' Dialled back the vocal effects for a more raw sound Hope ye enjoy this version and don't forget to pick up Wasteland 2 because it's awesome!! :)
miracleofsound Aww, I liked that line. Reminded me of Jack Palance. :3 I like the vocal with fewer effects. I get this feeling of being in one of those near-ghost towns you find in the desert here and there, holed up in the saloon and listening to this crazy person telling me his story. I can almost smell the whiskey breath! (I don't know what whiskey smells like.)
I was very surprised to hear this at the end of Wasteland 2, I was sat there and shouted to my friend _"Holy crap, that's Miracle of Sound! Good for him."_
