Another great scene was when Jack accidentally discovering Megatron in the rubble. What does Megatron do? "Here's your chance, boy. Seize the glory. Optimus would." He's not afraid of Jack. He's not afraid of the drill. We later see that Megatron had the capability to get out of the rubble, but he was curious what Jack would do. Jack, who looks up to Optimus, knows the leader of the Autobots would never do something like that, even to Megatron, and turns away to find his friends. And it was a smart choice, because Megatron could have killed him if he went through with it.
I think if anything, this entire episode just showed how terrifying Megatron can be. He actively assets threats, wants to know about the Autobot's "weakest links" and we see that knowledge used in Season 2, a lot.
the shocking thing is by the end of s1 and onwards, Optimus IS willing to toe the line and kill Megatron during the s1 finale, the battle with the insecticon and during the attack on Darkmount so it makes Jack to be an even greater successor to Optimus even tho hes human, he has the wisdom and foresight to make the right call(just like the Primes of old) shame that plotline wasnt used again in later seasons
@@harpybeagle4931 it was mostly because Optimus finally acknowledged his lack of foresight and clarity that Megatron would never change his ways, and his inability to stop him. Even Ratchet called out the many times that Optimus had Megatron dead to rights and still didn't follow through. It took Rafael being poisoned with Dark Energon to make Optimus realize the consequences of his hesitation and unwillingness to make the hardest decision. "I've spent far too long to realize and accept this revelation, that Autobots and Decepticons will never achieve everlasting peace. If there can be no diplomatic solution, then i cannot allow this darkness to fall upon this, or any other planet. Megatron must be destroyed." Even if executing someone in cold blood isn't something a Prime would do, it still doesn't change the fact that Megatron has to be stopped, no matter the cost. If killing Megatron meant that the war would finally end and Earth would be spared, Optimus Prime would be ready to pay any price in the end.
I always thought the movements Megatron was making in the"rock bottom" scene was him imitating Starscream. Megatron himself doesn't usually make those flamboyant moves except for I think this one moment. But it's definitely the type of movement Starscream would make. Especially if he had Megatron in a situation as helpless as the situation he was in at that moment.
If that is the case, then essentially Megatron is mocking Starscream by imitating him right before he's ready to end his spark once and for all; until Arcee and Jack show up, of course. That's another interesting perspective to this scene~ It really does seem like something Megatron would do to Starscream right before killing him off once he's had enough. Megatron does have a charismatic air about him and is a master of words (since he's been able to rally others and create his own faction for his own desires), and we see that demonstrated well here, along with his movements and body language.
There's a fourth wall punch with Megatron's first line of dialogue, being voiced by Welker "I HAVE RETURNED." Welker's performance had weight this time around, especially for some of Megatron's best scenes in Prime where he showed a genuine compassion for other characters. When Bumblebee went inside his head, his reaction to hearing someone was sick with the Cybonic plague before cackling when he realizes it was Optimus. Trying to stop Dreadwing from killing Starscream before forcing himself to shoot the latter and holding the weight of that over Starscream's head. Then ultimately with Unicron taking over his body, he was willing to let his physical form be wrecked so Unicron would fail. Then finally accepting that his Decepticon Movement was a failure once he was oppressed by a greater evil.
What a great One Villainous Scene. Another fantastic moment for Megatron is in IDW's Transformers Chaos Theory, where he and Optimus Prime...had a talk. They sat down, they talked about the Great War, about their rivalry, about their past, their ideals and worldviews clashed and both kept a feeling of respect for each other, even after all those millions of years of war against each other. This scene is fantastic, my favourite scene in the entire Transformers franchise and my One Villainous Scene alongside King Ghidorah's Alpha Roar Call in Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
One more is in the war for Cybertron trilogy. When Ultra Magnus challenges Megatron's beliefs and pleads to his past logic, and we get a glimpse that he doesn't truly want to do the stuff he does. He just sees his uprising as the only way to survive
The first IDW Megatron was one of, if not the greatest versions of the character. Completely villainous in the long duration of his campaign but ultimately motivated for a good cause. Hasbro's mandated Twist of making him into an Autobot wasn't just to change things up it, became a genuine Redemption Arc that was permanent.
Despite all of this, Megatron still holds some sense of honor as a gladiator. If he is unable to fight, then his life would be in the hands of those who would take it. In this episode, he taunted Jack to use the mining drill to kill him, but even Megatron knows that Jack wouldn't be willing to do it. "Come on! Seize the day! Think of the glory! Optimus would." "No. He wouldn't... Not like this." Even later on when Megatron was exhausted from fighting the Insecticon one on one, he fell to his knees right before Optimus and taunted him to do it. "So Optimus. Will you allow me live... or, will you end this here and now?" Megatron wasn't even afraid when Optimus rose his blaster towards his face, because he knew that his former brother didn't have the stomach for executing an unarmed opponent. My point is, Megatron KNOWS who everyone is deep down, and he constantly taunts them to bring out the very worst in themselves, which makes him not only cunning, but very dangerous.
You don't get to be a powerful, singular leader by underestimating/overestimating others. Megatron knows who/what Starscream exactly is (better then Starscream). It was a great scene, but I think Megatron was just f!%$ing around putting Starscream in his place. Megatron needs Starscream as a constant reminder that he cannot afford to trust ANYONE. Remember the episode from this scearies where Optimus Prime was infected by a virus and only Megatron had the fomula (epsode from this series of Transformers). That was because he couldn't even afford to trust his top bots with it, which may be a reason why he chose not to use it (if he did, Prime and the others would have known about the symtoms at first glance). That is who Megatron is... He trusts no one, yet has a use for everyone.
Another good Magatron moment was when he was betrayed by black aracnia and had to fight the insectacon and the conversation with Optimus when the Autobot arrive after.

@Zero Bullet's Well if we are brutally honest. Megatron is a very threating and powerfull villian ... But he is ... Not exactly sound in mind ... Or metally stable. Megatron is straight up insane and kinda stupid. I mean, after using Dark Energon to revive a Clifjumper as a Terrorcon Zombie, he then proced to infuse himself right into into the spark chamber (Wich would be the equivalent of injecting something right into the heart) with the same stuff he used to literally create a living dead, dude Megatron was lucky he din't get radiative poisoning or being turned into a zombie himself. Kinda like finding some random mushrooms on the forest and eating them hoping that they are safe for human consumption (Wich usually they are not) I am also aware that later Starscream used Dark Energon onto himself too, but unlike Megatron however he already knew that Dark Energon wouldn't kill him thanks to Megatron himself.

TFP Megatron is easily my favorite version. He doesn't screw around and he's no one's bitch. He stands up to Unicron. He matches Optimus blow for blow, even AFTER Optimus's upgrade. He shreds an Insecticon 1v1, WITH interference from Airachnid. He stands toe to toe with Predaking. He makes a deal that involves him walking straight into an entire squad of autobots with guns raised and he just makes a quip about how quaint their base is. TFP Megatron has one hell of a resume.
TFP Megatron is my favorite version of the cruel Decepticon Tyrant, I love this incarnation, how confident, how smart and cunning, how BADASS he is, seriously every time Megs is in a scene, he dominant the whole time, only when Optimus is in is the only time you feel anyone have a slight chance on beating this monster, and this scene is one of my favorites, also Jack scene later on in the same episode and the ending scene with Scream begging mercy again when Megatron find him holding the weight of the cave Bulk was before, this entire episode is really incredible.
prime megatron really felt like someone who can and has destroyed a world he never was humiliated he never felt like a scooby do villian he had charisma that let you see how he built an empire,
I do have to say, Starscream having some Energon for himself in the mine is kinda smart, scummy but smart, especially since Energon is pretty rare at this point.
Another little touch I like is how Megatron shows visible agitation when Starscream tries to pass the buck on Soundwave. For one, Megatron doesn't like that Starscream is lying to his face, but he also knows Soundwave is too competent to do what Starscream is accusing him of, and that seems to irritate him greatly.
Man, TFP Megatron was one of, if not the best depictions of Megatron of all time. Definitely my favorite lol The visual design alone is spectacular, the voice acting, his personal mannerisms as someone who is in control, and has the power to maintain that control... Ah it's SO good! Then we get to actually see that power come into play when we see him perform incredible feats of strength, utilize an INSANELY powerful arm cannon to deadly effect, and even take direct blaster shots from Team Prime with little to no effect. Then we come to the sword, which is sharp enough to cleave an autobot in two with a single strike, is worthy of a Souls game, and has literally never even so much as chipped or cracked all throughout the show, in direct contrast to Optimus's swords which it seemed like got broken all the time. And to top it off, we have his skill with the blade. And this ties into one of the biggest reasons why this version is so good: his background. Specifically, his history as a gladiator. A CHAMPION gladiator. A background which, if I remember right, didn't get revealed until season two when Arachnid tried to have him assassinated by an insecticon. After luring him into a deep pit and sic'ing her insecticon (which were still essentially super soldiers by this point) on him, Arachnid saw him attempting to bring his arm cannon to bear and realized how disastrous it would be for her if that beast of a mobile cannon was brought into play. So after Megatron succeeds in getting one shot off to create some breathing room, she webs it up to prevent him from using it again. Then it seems that she's done it. She's lured him into a trap in a confined pit, her warrior has the mighty Megatron on the back foot against the wall, surely nothing can go wrong for her right? Until Megatron delivers a backhand so brutal that it sends the warrior flying all the way across the room right into the opposite wall. Then he delivers one of my favorite lines in the entire series: "You and your beast would do well to remember, (unsheathes his massive sword completely unaffected by the webbing), that I honed my skills in the PITS OF KAON!" After which he proceeds to deliver the smackdown on the insecticon and literally slice its head off. And suddenly, it all makes sense now, why Megatron is able to go toe to toe with a literal Prime (who were basically demi-gods). Sure, he's absurdly big and strong, and cunning, and can take blows like a nokia. But more importantly, he has the skill to use those talents honed by years and years in the pits of the most notorious and presumably brutal gladiatorial arena on all Cybertron. And who better to stand directly against a Half-God, than THE Champion Gladiator who had to claw his way to glory through his strength, skill, and sheer force of will?
Prime Megatron is just so beautifully written with so much nuance and deconstruction of his Saturday morning counterpart. I think another good scene is when we see Bumblebee infiltrate Megatron’s dreams. We see the Decepticon leader dreaming both of being back at Kaon and finally defeating Optimus in battle over and over. I think that moment really sums up Megatron’s desire to keep the war going just out of spite for Optimus.
I think there are a couple more things to note about this scene. First, this mine that Starscream reserved for his own served as an excellent arena for Megatron to confront Starscream because it closed off Starscream's access to the sky. When Starscream did flee, he was practically scraping his wings against the tunnel walls. It shows that Megatron was fully aware of Starscream's cowardice and purposefully used the mine to box him in. Second, Steve Blum did an amazing job playing Starscream. It's not his iconic voice from G1, but he really captured Starscream's essence, playing on his sinister cunning as well as his sniveling cowardice. Also, as far as this duality goes, I absolutely love the episode where Megatron uses the Cordical Psychic Patch to enter Starscream's mind. It is a bit of a recap episode, but one that further tackles Starscream's and Megatron's characters (and one that's extremely entertaining).
Steve Blum gave a good performance, as always, and he really played up the "Reinfeld" role as Megatron's useful idiot. Not to mention his voice range from sinister growling, conniving schemer, to whimpering fool when plans collapse all at once.
@@_GeneralMechanics_ Steve Blum won an award for his portrayal of Starscream because of how different he is. The guy plays a sniveling coward as well as he can Wolverine
I will always love this megatron, the g1 show his voice was light and didn’t really give that “big bad guy” vibe to me g1 was definitely a bad guy that he’d try to take over the world, fail and then try it again but this megatron his voice is deeper and it gives that vibe of the bad guy that makes his followers command out of respect and fear and making him a threat not only to the heroes but to the world
This was the transformers cartoon i grew up with. I loved every damn episode too ...my brother was even more obsessed, what a show man. It had its flaws sure, i thought some characters got too one note later on, but man go watch it if you havent ...you wont regret it.
Megatron's rise to power and start of the war is what megatron wanted to erase. Power and corruption of the higher ranking cybertronians Any transformers fans here?
It's so hard to pick just one scene showing why Megatron is such a great villain. He's just such an amazing badguy. My personal favorite though, if I had to pick was during the final three episodes when he rebuilds the omega lock, showing just _how_ batshit insane he truly is. "The omega lock is a mystic force. Trying to recreate it with science is pure folly. Madness even" And then cut to Megatron showing him that he successfully did EXACTLY THAT.
I personally think that Megatron was the best 80's cartoon villain. In a sea of whiners like Shredder and jokes like Skeletor. Megatron is the most viscous, cunning, and accomplished of all of them. He actually did stuff and went through so much development both in the comics and the cartoon.
I love the ending of this episode. Starscream trapped holding up that giant bolder and Megatron just standing to the side watching like it's a movie. Then Starscream starts his normal cowardly begging saying how he came back to save Megatron. His response to it is so perfect. "Save me?" As if to say you really think I needed YOU to save me? And that wicked smirk he gets when he once again starts begging for mercy once again. Just so damn good. This series did so much right it's a shame it doesn't get more attention.
i do like that scene aswel funny enough, it feels like a mirror to g1 megatron and starscream but in this he doesnt tolerate it, he was willing to drag him to the middle of nowhere and kill him in a cave, especially the way he moves in the scenes, its very fluid and does in a way remind me of how much of an influencer megatron was before the war on cybertron but to be fair tfp does a lot of things right XD one other thing which is my personal favorite is optimus with megatron, even in the g1 when optimus has megatron down his sights, he lets him go, or he escapes somehow, in prime he learns that everytime megatron escapes it extends the war a bit longer and more lives are lost, so he learns to grow to actually try to kill megatron its such a small detail but i love it because of especially given its something for optimus we havent seen atleast in the films and shows(correct me if im wrong on that)
Great scene from the best Megatron(with a close second being the Megatron from the "Prime wars" trilogy, the dude was almost a prime for Primus' sake). Also, something I love to point out is that when Mike Bay was making the first Live-Action movie, he thought Frank Welker's voice would never be "scary" enough for HIS megatron and insteade went with the talented but amusingly uninvested Hughgo Weaving only to go with Welker from the 4th movie onwards
I also like in Transfomers Animated Megatron kills Starscream almost immediately after he rises from the dead pretty much and I love it....But the stuff with Megatron and Starscream in Prime is also really good🤣🤟
Sometimes I mentally image a parallel universe where Megatron drives his fist into that wall and then realizes there is no energon there and then he turns around to Starscream awkwardly and just carries on with his rant.
Not sure if Megatron has an actual lazy eye or if it’s just for comedic effect. If he does, that makes him even cooler in my book, if he doesn’t he’s still super cool
'Treachery keeps the wits sharp, yesss.' -The OTHER Megatron While this is a great subversion of the G1 dynamic, Patch does this even better since it puts them in a mental realm where Starscream's lies can be exposed the instant he tells them. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing a notorious liar get torn down and forced to admit to being what they are. And amazingly, it actually caused a revelation and change in him.
Excellent work Super. I’m not to sure if you ever read any of the IDW comics, but if you want to see perhaps the most brutal version of this back and forth from megatron and starscream, please look up the comic transformers IDW spotlight Megatron, or take a look at Emperor kumquat’s video on it. It’s depressing, and rather ruthless, but it’s still perhaps the most extreme example of the strange back and forth the two have. As well as explaining why he bothers to keep him around!
Tbf, in the G1 Marvel comics, Starscream and Megatron were also more competent than the cartoon. Starscream became a god at one point and Megatron kills Starscream the second he overtly tries to seize power.
I personally disagree. Yeah, I think Peter could have used some better direction but the show even cites this as Optimus purposefully keeping his emotions in check for the sake of the mission.
@@superhuman456 True, but there's the old rule of 'show don't tell'. So we should have had some scenes where he does more than raise his voice as that control over his emotions slips. I think one of the few scenes we do get other than that is the scene where he entrusts Jack with the key.
Nah, bro. The best case of villainous in transformers is the king starscream arc in cybertron/galaxy force. Starscream damn near takes over til wingsaber comes up and optimus gets deus ex machina ( pun intended) mode.
@@tartatovsky the best betrayal is the one you never see coming. Starscream in cybertron purposely recruited idiots, and sent megatron out of the way to make sure he could achieve true power of the gods.

It's a shame Chris Latta died in '94. Would've been awesome to see him reunited with Megatron for this series. Alas...
He sadly had a lot of issues, but yes the classic Starscream would have been perfect.
Definitely my favorite iteration of Megatron.
I will always love this megatron, the g1 show his voice was light and didn’t really give that “big bad guy” vibe to me g1 was definitely a bad guy that he’d try to take over the world, fail and then try it again but this megatron his voice is deeper and it gives that vibe of the bad guy that makes his followers command out of respect and fear and making him a threat not only to the heroes but to the world
Good to see prime finally getting some well deserved love
This was the transformers cartoon i grew up with. I loved every damn episode too ...my brother was even more obsessed, what a show man. It had its flaws sure, i thought some characters got too one note later on, but man go watch it if you havent ...you wont regret it.
7:53 I think this particular shot highlights his shear insanity. You can see it, in his eyes.
Megatron's rise to power and start of the war is what megatron wanted to erase. Power and corruption of the higher ranking cybertronians
Any transformers fans here?
Y...your on a video essay about a transformer. What was the point of this question?
Megatron: Has gun to starscream
RC comes in
Megatron: YOU'RE INTERRUPTING
I'm glad UA-cam keeps recommending these One Villanous scene videos no matter how many views they have.
If TFP isn't the best Transformers show ever, it's definitely up there 😊
I personally think that Megatron was the best 80's cartoon villain. In a sea of whiners like Shredder and jokes like Skeletor. Megatron is the most viscous, cunning, and accomplished of all of them. He actually did stuff and went through so much development both in the comics and the cartoon.
great to see that people are still talking about this amazing show
Transformers prime was my favorite show definitely
Transformers prime doesn't get enough love 💕 glad to see people still remember what a great show it was, (at least up until beast hunters)
So happy this popped up in my recommended! This was an awesome scene :D
i do like that scene aswel funny enough, it feels like a mirror to g1 megatron and starscream but in this he doesnt tolerate it, he was willing to drag him to the middle of nowhere and kill him in a cave, especially the way he moves in the scenes, its very fluid and does in a way remind me of how much of an influencer megatron was before the war on cybertron
but to be fair tfp does a lot of things right XD
one other thing which is my personal favorite is optimus with megatron, even in the g1 when optimus has megatron down his sights, he lets him go, or he escapes somehow, in prime he learns that everytime megatron escapes it extends the war a bit longer and more lives are lost, so he learns to grow to actually try to kill megatron
its such a small detail but i love it because of
especially given its something for optimus we havent seen atleast in the films and shows(correct me if im wrong on that)
the transformers prime is just insane
FINALLY someone talks about my favorite show of all time XD
Great scene from the best Megatron(with a close second being the Megatron from the "Prime wars" trilogy, the dude was almost a prime for Primus' sake). Also, something I love to point out is that when Mike Bay was making the first Live-Action movie, he thought Frank Welker's voice would never be "scary" enough for HIS megatron and insteade went with the talented but amusingly uninvested Hughgo Weaving only to go with Welker from the 4th movie onwards
Because Welker does it better, and can make Megatron sound scary.
Ngl I’m really happy this got a Villainess sense, I love this show to bits so this is really cool
Definitely a great megatron scene, but my fav is when he stands over ironhide in the original animated movie.
Prime Megatron is best Megatron; change my mind.
Are you familiar with G1 Megatron?
@@cthulhu626 yes, but he's an idiot for keeping Starscream and failing almost every time. his greatest victory was undercut by Unicron.
@@cthulhu626 just get over the tacky old stuff and start to appreciate the newer much better ones
I also like in Transfomers Animated Megatron kills Starscream almost immediately after he rises from the dead pretty much and I love it....But the stuff with Megatron and Starscream in Prime is also really good🤣🤟
The amount of development these two went through in IDW was amazing.
Awesome vid! So glad to see another big prime fan!
Megatron and this show as a whole are top-tier
"remind me of her trustworthiness"
But, this is the 2nd best Megatron
yesssssssssssss
Sometimes I mentally image a parallel universe where Megatron drives his fist into that wall and then realizes there is no energon there and then he turns around to Starscream awkwardly and just carries on with his rant.
LETS GO A 1 VILLAOUNS SCENE OF TRANSFORMERS LET ALONE THE GOAT SERIES TRANSFORMERS PRIME, HELL YEAH
Thanks for the love mate! I hope you enjoy it
@@superhuman456 loved it my guy!
Not sure if Megatron has an actual lazy eye or if it’s just for comedic effect. If he does, that makes him even cooler in my book, if he doesn’t he’s still super cool
What about when he joined forces with the auto bots only to serve his own interests in one shall rise?
'Treachery keeps the wits sharp, yesss.' -The OTHER Megatron
While this is a great subversion of the G1 dynamic, Patch does this even better since it puts them in a mental realm where Starscream's lies can be exposed the instant he tells them. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing a notorious liar get torn down and forced to admit to being what they are. And amazingly, it actually caused a revelation and change in him.
I think you deserve way more subscribers than what you have now.
This scene is my favorite one of Starscream with Megatron. That and his scene with Arcee
Very underrated video
Another great scene is Megatron's return in Transformers Animated, the scene has pretty much everything a great villain scene should have
Anybody else by chance pickup on the velvet room music from persona, 5:32
Excellent work Super. I’m not to sure if you ever read any of the IDW comics, but if you want to see perhaps the most brutal version of this back and forth from megatron and starscream, please look up the comic transformers IDW spotlight Megatron, or take a look at Emperor kumquat’s video on it. It’s depressing, and rather ruthless, but it’s still perhaps the most extreme example of the strange back and forth the two have. As well as explaining why he bothers to keep him around!
It's been a while since I've seen one of Kumquat's videos. Thanks for the recommendation. ^^
The only series I have ever finished
Tbf, in the G1 Marvel comics, Starscream and Megatron were also more competent than the cartoon. Starscream became a god at one point and Megatron kills Starscream the second he overtly tries to seize power.
"you see, Batman *video starts*..."
no but seriously, why does he sound like heath ledger's joker?
Aria of the soul nice
I made a one villainous scene video about the joker from an animated movie of the injustice universe.
Peter Cullen would have been a more effective Optimus if he'd been given better direction in Prime.
Obligatory comment about IDW comics and Spotlight: Megatron
I subscribed.😇
The fact that Season 2 isn’t on Netflix is so annoying
How are you? I see your sub count has grew.
Doing good mate. You?
@@superhuman456 No
Nah, bro. The best case of villainous in transformers is the king starscream arc in cybertron/galaxy force. Starscream damn near takes over til wingsaber comes up and optimus gets deus ex machina ( pun intended) mode.
Your opinion
@@tartatovsky the best betrayal is the one you never see coming. Starscream in cybertron purposely recruited idiots, and sent megatron out of the way to make sure he could achieve true power of the gods.
If you like this you need check on the transformer content on Netflix it's honestly great
i prefer a version of starscream in armada
Were you drunk reading this
While batter than many other Transformers TV Shows, if you think Transformers: Prime is the BEST then clearly you haven't seen Transformers: Beast Wars. There is no finer Transformers TV show.
Opinions exist.
like human said opinions exists and in my opinion beast wars is over rated
@@frankspick7544 for me is both overrated AND overhated
