So glad that this video exists - I was gifted a timple from a friend when they went on holiday to Lanzarote for their anniversary, now to figure out how to play it.
I too have a timple, hand made in Teguise for me by Antonio Lemes Hernandez. It is a beautiful little instrument that I have, after countless hours practising, been able to learn well enough to play in the Spanish bars with the local musicians. at their invitation. The good timple players nearly always confiscate it for the night, to play themselves! I use your video to just check mine is in tune!
Hello Bazz Can you remember if the tuners are oke. Because i found a store on Tenerife don't know if i'am aloud to mention the name from the store. But they sale tuners like the one on the Timple for a good price. Also coulored like the Koaloha tuners. And made of aluminium. Thanks.
This instrument has more in common with the Puerto Rican Cuatro than a ukulele, 5 string instead of 4 plus 85% of Puerto Rican genetic roots hail from the Canary islands.
Hello, so , I just received a timple. being a multi string instrument player; lute, baroque guitar, arabic Oud, venezuelan cuatro, etc,, I find it simple to tune the E string to an F.. so as to simplify the chord positions. playing an A major position gives me a G major.. easy enough to remember. what do you think ?
very interesting instrument look like the back like a charango. beautiful sound thank you

This review set me on a timple quest. Thanks, now I have TAS. Lots of beautiful timple music on UA-cam.

Mario Van Der Zijden the ones on this were really cheap friction pegs. But I did a straight swap with them for Grover 4s
Mario Van Der Zijden this wasn’t from Tenerife though

It probably does and the museum makes that point - though also tips a hat to the various other relatives.

With the right string gauges I’m sure it can work. In fact you can tune most stringed instruments in a variety of ways
