This is a very old German song called Muss I Denn and was also performed beautifully by a singer who was Elvis impersonator and released beautiful CD and DVD called Tribute to the King and his voice is so remarkably similar. Later he got famous in Europe singing classics with his big symphony orchestra. He started singing Elvis when he heard him at 3 years of age and the rest was history. Here he is in a German version (original) of this song. He is from Belgium but sings in many languages and his English is perfect. I have been a fan for almost fifty years and always will be. This is one of the first songs I learnt as a young kid in the early 70's. I remember when he died my mum and all the teachers crying at school that day like we had lost a member of our family. Gone but never to be forgotten. RIP Elvis and thank you for everything.
This scene shows Elvis' inventive, resourceful ability as an actor, as he literaly falls in love with the girl puppet, and she in turn falls for him. Very clever, heartfelt sequence that you seldom see in modern films..

One of the most beautiful traditional songs in the world. Elvis performed it so beautiful and brilliant. And he played so excellent in this fine movie.
Elvis was a lovely guy and he had a brilliant voice. I think Wooden Heart was sung so beautifully and is so touching. G. I. Blues was a good movie starring Elvis Presley.
What surprised and delighted me about this performance was Elvis's excellent German pronunciation and accent. I had no idea he had such impressive linguistic skills!

Just watched "Elvis" 2022 - wow, so well done. Born in 1970 the earliest memory I have is watching Elivis's death on TV with my family. I have watched many of his movies, but his song just gives me the same shivers as Hallelujah.. No idea why - miss you Elvis - how I wish you knew the legacy you left.
Super old German folk song and Elvis made Wooden Heart of it. Often i play that song in a famous tourism place in GErmany in Ruedesheim, Rhine - Drosselgasse. Long time ago during a visit i went also to Tupelo, MS, in the USA and saw the little 2-room-hut, where Elvis lived as child and also saw the place, where he was a soldier in Germany from 1958 till 1960 in Friedberg and living in Bad Nauheim. Hesse.

Another example of Elvis's versatility as a performer, showing the great range of his talent. Elvis could do rock, folk, country, or gospel, and do each of them to a high degree. Although his films have been denigrated even by some of his fans, he was no slough when it came to acting, either. He was a much better talent then his supposed superior contemporary, John Lennon.
Yes, Flaming Star is his very best film. I have watched t now 10 times and will watch it more and more. Each time I am fascinated from him as a halfblood.
@@tinaowens1225 Lennon disagreed with you. Elvis wrote some songs adding different lyrics to tunes from opera to folk and turning them into RR hits. And, the self styled Elvis Beatle began composing songs on a keyboard after meeting Elvis and finding out he played not only guitar but the piano.
Ahem, Elvis... There never was such a talent, such a star, such a performer, such an icon, such a wonderful and generous man, but I forgot.. He was just a singer.... And NO-ONE has ever come close to his popularity, his ability to enthral and captivate audiences and to top it all HE started it all off. Not Rock & Roll per-se, but the whole rock and roll movement. Bill Haley was original, Little Richard was original, Jerry-Lee Lewis was original BUT they all pale into insignificance when stood next to the KING. They all walk behind him, he is first and stands at the head of the queue at the Pearly Gates. And he has the Golden Ticket, front row, top billing and executive washroom privileges in Heaven !
This will always stick in my mind as a magical moment. This is the first film I watched of his and fell in love with this scene. ❤❤ Simple yet so wonderful...a proper classic xx

Lyrics
Can't you see I love you?
Please, don't break my heart in two
That's not hard to do
'Cause I don't have a wooden heart
And if you say goodbye
Then I know that I would cry
Maybe I would die
'Cause I don't have a wooden heart
There's no strings upon this love of mine
It was always you from the start
Treat me nice, treat me good
Treat me like you really should
'Cause I'm not made of wood
And I don't have a wooden heart
Muss i denn, muss i denn zum Städtele hinaus?
Städtele hinaus
Und du, mein Schatz, bleibst hier
Muss i denn, muss i denn zum Städtele hinaus?
Städtele hinaus
Und du, mein Schatz, bleibst hier
There's no strings upon this love of mine
It was always you from the start
Sei mir gut, sei mir gut
Sei mir wie du wirklich sollst
Wie du wirklich sollst
'Cause I don't have a wooden heart
Thank you!

Hate to believe he becomes a great actor when he acts with a doll! A very charming scene!
