Apparently it was an inspiration to Indian nationalists, because if a small nation right next to England could stand up to the British, then surely India could do the same. On behalf of Canada it was never ceded to the crown... It is just a relationship between its continued commonwealth so whatever the Queen commands on the commonwealth the Canadians would have to adhear to them. If they wanted to they can easily relinquish power from the Queen as head of state.
Gibraltar is not an 'island off the coast of Spain'. It is not an island and it is attached to the Spanish mainland. Money in Canada has Queen Elizabet II on it as she is Queen of Canada.

Hello. I have lived in Belfast all my life(more than 50 years) and the whole time i have lived here it has never been a Country. Northern Ireland is under the jurisdiction of the UK but is also a part of the Country of Ireland which is also an island. Most people in Ireland believe that Northern Ireland is under foreign occupation.
ah most people of Northern Ireland do not think that I am from Northern Ireland myself and Northern Ireland is a country of the UK, and what you have wrote is not true
It's mostly down to how hardly anyone today is being taught the difference between the names. I was never taught in school about the differences and was only told off-hand that the difference between the UK and England is that the UK is Scotland, Wales, N. Ireland and England (including the islands we own I think). I never really understood what Great Britain truly was until this video. Quick edit: By "I never understood what GB was", I don't mean to say that I thought Scotland and Wales are a part of England. I understand that they are their own separate countries. I only thought it was interchangeable with "United Kingdom". I didn't want to seem like a clueless cock, so I made this quick addition.
It is called Sovereign nation,it fall's under one category of (OBE) Order of the British Empire...Their issued currency the Pound Sterling which is the world's oldest currency that has been in continuous use since its inception
