The fiber internet is pretty much accessible from anywhere here in Japan and considerably cheap. The fiber is a consolidated technology for years. I pay like 50 USD for 1.5G in Tokyo metropolitan area. But in Canada (2020) I used to pay 140 CAD for 1G (Bell) internet and I had no other option to choose because only Bell had this technology. I never understood it....
What you don't realize is that most 3rd Party competitors have to rent the lines from Bell and Rogers so either its less consistent or is slowed down during peak hours or deal with other cons that are different. Because Bell and Rogers own almost all lines they can also control just how much freedom the smaller company is given. Most people I know (I'm actually Canadian) have tried many other alternatives but there have been many issues that pop up such as data caps and overages, peak hour slowdowns, inconsistent service (I've had one where the speeds advertised were rarely even remotely reached over the year so 25mbps averaged 15 at most), and more. Rogers and Bell control just how much freedom most of these other companies are given and because they rent the lines they also tend to have to cut costs elsewhere. The reason isn't because Canadians are content with spending more, far from it most don't want to. It's because there are not consistent alternatives as well as a lot of the time the good alternatives are only local. Having looked into it myself many weren't even available in my area. Please so your research before generalizing an entire countries population with propaganda and painting them as people who just spend more because it's the easy option. There are tons of options yes but most have one problem or another whereas with the Major two you they OWN all the infrastructure so even when there is an issue it can be fixed immediately. That being said my family HAS paid for the little guy many times and had inconsistent and poor service many times as well. Give Canadians an actual competitor who works as well as they say and they will switch immediately.
Tejas Gandhi Some people will say that's its the same network as Bell, Rogers, Videotron, etc and that its the same thing, but the smaller companies are actually paying for a certain bandwidth for all their customers in an area. So if they dont pay for enough bandwidth (and most probably don't, their margins aren't that big so they're trying to save money whenever possible), you might end up with congestion and slowdowns that you wouldn't get with the "real" provider. I'm a Bell technician and I can tell you that with resellers we can't do everything we typically do for Bell customers. It's really a matter of what the reseller ISP is willing to pay for. Some pay for the bare minimum. Some others pay for more. As an example, the other day I was installing internet for a Teksavvy customer. The line was good, the modem was in sync, but the internet didn't work for some reason. Had to tell the client to call Teksavvy as my job was to do the connections so the line is reaching the client's apartment(I did), then ensure the line is good and within specs (it was) and the modem is getting sync (it was). Probably a modem configuration issue, but that was on Teksavvy's part. Note that I'm giving Teksavvy as an example, but they're not any worse than the others, in fact I'd say they're among the few good third party ISPs. But my point is, if I was installing the same service for a Bell customer, not only I would bring and configure the modem (third-party ISPs typically send it to you by the mail, which tends to delay the installation date), but also, I wouldn't leave the customer's home until the services are working perfectly. You get what you pay for. I don't work for Rogers and Videotron, but I'm pretty sure it's the same story - especially for the sub-contractors that are paid by the job.
HCkev Interesting. TekSavvy is one of the ones I've heard a lot of problems with but that aside I the problems I mention don't really involve setup. That's a huge cost from the big three which my family is happy to forego and do ourselves as we know how to. I'm speaking more service than anything. I don't believe it's a you get what you pay for scenario as that's relative to the market and our market is extremely expensive and limited. Either way interesting to learn about that but yeah that was actually one of the benefits to taking those other ones as we would do the setup ourselves and generally they have a call centre help us set it up if not instructions with the router.
Used to use this provider called cik, the internet was so horrible, have to reset the modem at least once a day, and once, we had gone a whole week without internet
I was there in the summer of 2017 and it did appear extremely expensive compared to Hong Kong and the speed is slower too. I have a 1000M line and it seems really expensive there or hard to find. Canada needs a lot more competition.
In India it cost just $.26 for 1GB data, there is a 97% difference in the price of 1GB of data between India and the US. I hope Elon musk's Starlink will bring the prices down in US. My broadband connection is 50Mbps download and 20Mbps upload, with 500Gb download limit at a price of just $10.97 a month
One word sums up the problem in my eyes - monopoly. I guess the CBC and their expert never bothered considering this point - maybe it pays to get it wrong. I do think it's a low blow blaming customers. Also why not let people speak for themselves - experts aren't necessary in many cases I believe they are good for getting out a single message which generally represents who ever is paying them.
we dropped the two big ones , did our research went with a small outfit and have no more problems than friends with the big guys and pay half the price !
That's because the small ones use the big ones infrastructure meaning you get the same internet but pay royalties ontop of basic service. If the big guy's lose too much bussiness they just charge your cheap provider more to use their infrastructure (or buy out the competition like bell/rogers or telus/at&t) and your rates go up. You are still supporting the big 3 no matter who you chose because telus and Shaw own more then 90% of phone and cable lines in Canada (and are the only ones who maintain them)
The main problem with this video is they are focusing on coextro which is ONLY available in parts of Ontario. They answered their own question. Companies like will not and cannot thrive because of their very low coverage area. If they offered this service in other provinces then of course they would be able to compete.
Bell Canada why are you not allowing a few free channels as people are at home watching a lot of TV.during this virus.... Do your part for your customers....
not sure about that i have a chatr phone with the highest plan 70$ and they are under fido and fido under roger but even with the third party chart i still have better deal on data and fido second party always send me text to go with them for less then what i got with chatr so i believe your wrong ...
I switched to Altima telecom after experiencing a horrible internet connection with Bell Canada. Not only am I paying way less than what Bell was charging (almost $120 dollars!), I’m also getting WAY better internet than I ever did with Bell Canada.
If instead of Bell DSL if you go with a cheaper competitor, you will still be using the Bell infrastructure but a a lower rate. In-fact before I got fibre to home from Execulink I was using the Execulink DSL 15mbps instead of 6mbps still on the same phone line from the same bell switch, but faster and cheaper than Bell will offer. Did I mention that this cheaper faster internet was coming from Bell but not available to Bell customers. Before switching from Bell my phone TV and internet cost over $250 a month, now I pay $125 /mo for my fibre package 20mbps internet, phone and TV.(yes actual fibre optic line to my house unlike bell's fibre that is copper wires to your house) Better Value at lower price. And of course a very important part of the value is customer service; Ever call Bell for help sit on hold for half an hour to get an operator that barley speaks English.(that's good value right??)
I’m paying $100 a month ( after taxes) with Shaw and can’t anywhere near afford it. That being said it is super fast and rarely goes down( a few times about 3 a.m. for a few minutes)
I used Voice Network for five years now without any problems. I was first with Bell till they ripped me off in 2001 then I switched to Rogers till they ripped me off in 2012. Now I'm with Voice Network. They never try to upsell me and I've never had a service issue. I will never pay my outstanding Bell or Rogers bills. I refuse to pay for services not rendered.
Few years ago an Egyptian telecom company was refused a licence to operate in Canada, it is an indication to avoid competition. Eventually, the country will suffer. People must lobby and complain all the time.
i'm with distributel. It's cheaper than bell and rogers but it's still pricey when compared to what people can get in the US, Europe, Asia... I suppose population density COULD play a factor but when realizing that it takes only a fraction of a cent to deliver 1gig of data, it's just greed i think.
Thanks all the Larrys out there. You're the reason why giant greedy expensive ISPs dominate and crush competition in Canada so the rest of us working poor folks can't afford high speed home internet ever. I'm never gonna pay. My phone data plan is a grandfather plan at 16 dollars a month. If Larrys are smart they would ask their ISP to grandfather their plan and never pay their increases. But they are too lazy to do that. I'm sick of Canada allowing no real competitive pricing. When my international friends pay less than 10 dollars a month for home and mobile services. Shame on us!
Totally disgusted by their unprofessional, pathetic online support. I am already being charged for my phone which is NOT EVEN CONNECTED and they also promised 3 months free.
This article failed to mention one aspect of these smaller/lesser known companies. Upfront costs. Buying equipment. Paying upwards of a few hundred just to get started.
not so much in BC, we don't get huge benefits using different providers other than Shaw or even Telus. There are little guys out there like lightspeed providing 150 speed for $70, however Shaw charges us for $80 (a 2yr promo) with pretty much the same package, plus other benefits. The prices here are so similar that there are basically no point in using the little guys, and plus I suspect they are using either Shaw or Telus cable lines to provide their service anyway (which is probably why they are not much cheaper). Many of them only provide for limited area as well, usually prime locations. The risk is not worth taking for less than $20-$30 a month, as I have been bitten many times with cheap cell providers like Wind now changed to Freedom. It took me over 3 month to get my money back on an account I said I don't want automatic payment, and they still charged my card automatically after I closed my account.
Slodin I agree, in BC unless you live in some nice location, you don’t have too much choice other than Shaw and Telus. Even then, Shaw and Telus have some good deals
Distributel put a permanent discount line on my invoice, but they have been gradually reducing the discount value....to me it seems a way to bypass increasing your internet bill without informing you. Noticed my bill went from the $50s now it is in the $80s by the time I noticed it. planning to disconnect asap. Companies always find a loop hole/dirty trick...yikes..
best to make sure you have a contract if you use Telus than a service agreement as we thought we had a contract, but Telus did not tell us that it would be cheaper to be on contract like were 2 yrs before and folks got dinged an outrages amount for their bundle. Also even though their terms stipulates you have 14days to cancel without fees this is not so.Only if yr a new customer this applies.
What will it take for Canadians to realize that the only reason Rogers and other tech monopolies only exist to quash and buyout their competitors. I am 28 years old, I grew up with dial up connection. So if a smaller company is a bit slower, I have the patience to wait it out for a few seconds. Please understand that everything we have today is so finely put together like a hair, do not expect oligarchies to treat their consumers well.
I change my home internet every year and never pay more than $40 for unlimited internet. I don’t understand why people pay $100s of dollars when they can get same service for lot less by switching every year.
My friend in New Mexico, USA gets 300mbp/s for around 60$. What is wrong with Canada where we're not getting nearly those types of speeds for a ton more money... so messed up
If a country is so called "developed" as it is, shouldnt the government be putting proper infrastructure and control so that people can get affordable and fair internet prices? It's laughable really.
I think there should be fifth reason added to this: it's almost impossible to cancel your account with the big telecom companies and they've purposely made it that way. Go to the place where you signed up? Nope. They can't do it. Why not? Because Canadian telecom is like the Hotel California, you can check in any time, but you can never leave.
The Canadian Government should allow US based companies including Mobile providers like AT&T - Verizon - T-Mobile & the others to operate their networks & satellite 🛰️ s in Canada to make the market bigger & have more & better choices for all Canadian citizens. The 3 major providers currently operate & control most of the market & prices & systems in general. Allowing US based companies to operate & offer their services in Canada would just be better for all Canadian citizens in general & most likely better & cheaper prices - as their would be more competition.
This needs to be brought back up. Recently the town I live in payed tax dollars to have fiber optic and internet cables installed which was exciting at the time after being stuck with bell and only bell with max upload speed of 10mbs for $100 month. Now they want $150 month for fiber internet even tho tax dollars paid for that service to be installed. It's a huge scheme!
The issue is telus and Shaw have monopolies on the infrastructure required for internet access. No matter which distributor you choose you still end up paying the big 3 royalties for the use of their infrastructure. This means there is no real choice in Canada since if telus loses money to competition they just charge the competition more for the use of the phone/cable lines and your new rate goes through the roof to offset the companies costs.
i didn't even know about coextro, they are cheap might actually see about using them if the prices are right. bell, cogeco, rogers and shaw are just charging way too much.
It depends where you live in Canada. The smaller less expensive internet providers only cover large metropolitan areas. Plus we are a bit lazy as the big companies do bundles that include your phone, internet, and cable.
Not 100% true, but for the most part, ya. Was going to say, teksavvy provides internet for a friend of mine and has for a decade or so. Then again, we do live in the capital of our province (still small, barely a city). If one were to get a bit more rural it would definitely be questionable.
For me to take consumer risk, I need a substantial difference in price. Secondly there are so many companies popping up everyday, I don't trust them to provide good service. For me after sales service is very important.
I am less then 30 days into my new Sjaw 100 plan which comes to $70 a month. The moment i agreed to start this Gramdfathered contract they tried to bill me on day one of this new contract & today a 26 days later i got a bill in the mail saying im being billed $1.12 for late payment & unbelievably my first bill is a whopping $218.85... Isnt this illegal ?
they all do that. make halfway bill saying your bill circle is started at such date. you get to pay a portion of a month plus a full month for the first bill even if the moment u ask for the service is on the first day of the month. bill u before you get the hardware like sim card or Modem mafia
What the ISP is giving you to the modem and what you can get on one device is two different things. No ISP is guaranteeing speed to a device. They're promising a speed to the modem, and it is split across devices. If can try with another device, you can see if you're getting the same results. Also make sure no other device or background app is using the internet - that will definitely be reflected in the speed tests
people in us campground have twice the speed of the highest speed of canada and they have some guys coming just connecting 2 wire together and everything works lol
OF COURSE because there is a monopole within the very few existing companies and they are not ready to let go of millions of profits for the benefit of 30 millions users....
Been with TekSavvy for almost 8 years. A big provider installed the line and their rep tried to convert me with a sales pitch. I let him talk then I told him my rates with TekSavvy and that shut him up instantly. Over the years they have increased to unlimited with no extra charge. They even gave a rate reduction once. I think I had one disruption of service over the years. I had a problem once with something that had nothing to do with TekSavvy and their service rep stayed on the phone with me for 2 hours to help me fix my problem for free. A friend of mine who had worked at Microsoft and also at one of the larger service providers told me when I first got my computer to go with one of the little guys and I will save money and that's what I did from the very beginning. I have saved so much money over the years compared to some of my friends it's ridiculous. So if you want to throw your money away go right ahead.
I have 2 fiber lines in my house. For 2 Of Bell’s symmetrical gigabit modems. Conextro only has ONE fiber line. I wonder how consistent their speeds are if it’s shared? I’m not switching, just an observation
There is an ongoing battrle between the resellers and the "legacy" network owners. No network owner wants to be forced to bulk sell their service to resellers, yet is anb economic necessity, hence the law demands it, and rightly so. However the consum, ers also need to suppoirt this. On hearing this, I rang up conextro. However, so far they only provide service in the greater Toronto area. Little benefit for me in the Greater Montreal area. They are not the only one to aim at FTTB (Fibre To The Building, sometimes called FTTH or fibre to the home), however much of this issue is the high per unit cost of "backauling" the fibre to so many separate places. As if this writing (April 14, 202 ) I am waiting to hear from tconextro in an initial exchange to see where they stand vis a vie this. They also appear to have some Quebec competition from CIK Telecom, but that I have yet to investigate. And how ready am I to switch? This will depend on several factors: 1) Is the fibre is to be inside or underground all the way, so it is not subject to physical damage from blizzards, accidents, vandals etc. 2) Will the terms be such as to fairly respect then need for competition, and oblige the public to also do so? Notwithstanding issues such as compeition diminished in ways that do not controbene existing laws, I am the paying consumer and stand for both fairness and socio-economic adequacy in what I am about to put out my money for. During the current crisis of COVID-19, watch how businesses manage their parts of the difficulties, as it were their "business mettle" as it can be very telling of how a business might be when the crisis lets up, and I "teach my teach" where I can. 3) I am also looking at VPN's, both commercial and private one to one, but am not yet ready to take action there for now,. as well as other independent means of making good and legal use of the existing technology, especially for the underprivileged, but I do not engage in any exchanges of money or tangible material values. Let others make their best use of what I have seen in my 75 years, to help themselves, but also comprehensively adequately and fair. Now it is late, so let's see what time will tell!
Small Internet providers suck... they want to be like the big guys but can't provide the same service... yeah you will get your Internet at your new address... 3 months after you have already moved in. The big companies take weeks if not days within ordering service. Then billing the little guys like to stick you with hidden fees Oh and then God forbid your hardware messes up the little guys pass that cost on to you and take forever to get a repair man out due to being so small of a company to begin with. These are just a few of the real reasons Canadians stick with the big companies that have been providing service for many years.
I wouldn't even wish for high speed internet if Canada can make its government websites run properly. I'm sick and tired of website's server being down for days whenever I try to access my national tax or student loan account.
Seems so efficient! How can we do this with roads and water and even human waste treatment? Imagine the possibilities! Seriously though, I am ashamed of humanity today.
Try 6/1. Ha. I’m with Telus in Northern AB, and they’ve repeatedly told me that they’re not upgrading the area anytime soon. Telus is all that is offered in my area, so I have no choice but to pay way too much for lacklustre internet. It’s great.
LOL, i get 1gigabit fiber plan in Lithuania for 17 eur/month thats around 26.57 CAD and 21.04 USD with 24month contract, without contract you can get it for 23 ish eur/month. Those companies in west should be greedy
Switching each year and profiting of new customer 12 months promo is the best :D i save between 110$-140$ a month each years x12 month = 1320$ of saving and even more ... Bell and Videotron are fighting each other like 2 aggressives shark so lets profit of it they have no right to force us into a contract so we can leave to who we want when we want ! Dont let them charge you higher fee your the main reason why prices are going soo high cause they know that you will pay ...
Jay Roy Videotron hasn't been aggressive for a couple years now... Right now their "big" deal is $65.95 for 120/20 internet for the first year. Meanwhile, Bell offer 150/150 for $1 less... Even after the first year when you're back on the regular price, it still cost $2 more with Bell but for much faster speeds (especially in upload, 150 VS 20). But that's the regular price on Bell's website, you can actually get 300/300 Mbps for the exact same price (1 year and after the first year too). Right now I'm enjoying a triple-play deal for 2 years with Gigabit internet, TV with Good package + 15 alacarte channels + 4K PVR, as well as home phone (which I don't use but it's part of the deal) for $99(well $106 since I added an additional TV receiver). Never seen Videotron come up with anything close to that.
Dude I only pay $124(CAD) for 100 MBPS PER YEAR no CAP (NO DOWNLOAD OR UPLOAD LIMIT) to a local ISP in India. The only time I am disconnected is during power outages, otherwise everything is fine...
the biggest part of this they missed is that the big 3 are playing dirty pool with the resellers. When fibe finally came to my area the most i could get on bell was 25/10 i was with teksavvy at the time but teksavvy while could resell 25/10 they were not able to upgrade me cause bell wouldn't get me the full 10 upload and resellers are only able to resell if they can meet the as advertised rates so if at that time i'm only able to get 25/8 and not the 25/10 resellers cant sell me that package but bell could so there i am stuck with bell.
Bell and rogers got the monopoly plus if their is any issue with your thirdparty service your company needs to send a technician but they don't have techs so they send either a bell tech or a rogers tech depending who your with but you are not priority to them your not their customer when they come to your house you get what you get

My broadband connection is 50Mbps download and 20Mbps upload, with 500Gb download limit at a price of just $10.97 a month
@@venkatthota2691 Damn. 50mbps for 10.97$, cool
One word sums up the problem in my eyes - monopoly. I guess the CBC and their expert never bothered considering this point - maybe it pays to get it wrong. I do think it's a low blow blaming customers. Also why not let people speak for themselves - experts aren't necessary in many cases I believe they are good for getting out a single message which generally represents who ever is paying them.
agreed look at my reply above
we dropped the two big ones , did our research went with a small outfit and have no more problems than friends with the big guys and pay half the price !
You are still supporting the big 3 no matter who you chose because telus and Shaw own more then 90% of phone and cable lines in Canada (and are the only ones who maintain them)
teksavey its a little more now but still a bargain
@@leegray4999 3 years later are you still happy? I am thinking of changing to Teksavvy.
@@robertheintz8017 That would be the smaller one we switched to ! Good outfit , never had a problem !
Rogers is the worst company on earth. Too expensive. They lie. Rude. Unprofessional!
I can count on one hand all the good/decent interactions I've had with Rogers. Lol, terrible times...
The main problem with this video is they are focusing on coextro which is ONLY available in parts of Ontario. They answered their own question. Companies like will not and cannot thrive because of their very low coverage area. If they offered this service in other provinces then of course they would be able to compete.
CANADIAN INTERNET SPEED IS
THE SLOWEST IN THE WORLD !
You Cant HandleTruth first off who cares second it’s 1000/1000 speeds
You Cant HandleTruth it’s actually one of the fastest in the world
I think Canada’s internet is slow but I found out it’s the fastest internet in the world
no its not....singapore is... look it up
Happy with Novus for now. Only downside is they have bandwidth caps, but they are pretty generous.
This report was a boot to my rear to change ISPs, and Coextro is who I went with.
Bell Canada why are you not allowing a few free channels as people are at home watching a lot of TV.during this virus....
Do your part for your customers....
If it's anything like cellular, the so called alternate providers are subsidiaries of the same large companies. Just a marketing strategy
not sure about that i have a chatr phone with the highest plan 70$ and they are under fido and fido under roger but even with the third party chart i still have better deal on data and fido second party always send me text to go with them for less then what i got with chatr so i believe your wrong ...
I switched to Altima telecom after experiencing a horrible internet connection with Bell Canada. Not only am I paying way less than what Bell was charging (almost $120 dollars!), I’m also getting WAY better internet than I ever did with Bell Canada.
im thinking of switching to Altima telecom, would you still recommend it? I need something reliable for work.
What? No. I pay 75 bucks a month with Shaw.... For internet and cable I think it's fair I would no way in hell pay 140 a month that's just ridiculous!
Bell are ripoff artists.
And of course a very important part of the value is customer service; Ever call Bell for help sit on hold for half an hour to get an operator that barley speaks English.(that's good value right??)
stevmoon please tell me that's 20 Mbps upload cuz if not that horribly slow.
the quality does take a hit that's for sure.
I’m paying $100 a month ( after taxes) with Shaw and can’t anywhere near afford it. That being said it is super fast and rarely goes down( a few times about 3 a.m. for a few minutes)
If I could switch, I would. In a heartbeat. But here, there is no other option.
Even then, Shaw and Telus have some good deals
surf internet. 29.99 for unlimited 25 mbps internet. uses shaws infrustructure
The Karnige way too slow.
For me it's because most small Internet brands do not have service in my area or there speeds are lower
best to make sure you have a contract if you use Telus
than a service agreement as we thought we had a contract, but Telus did not tell us that it would be cheaper to be on contract like were 2 yrs before and folks got dinged an outrages amount for their bundle.
There are not many third party options and the third party options are using the same fibre lines as Bell and Rogers...
In Taiwan Home internets offered unlimited for all approx. $30 per month.
WiFi for mobiles in the public area of cities is free.
50 mb/s $84.99/month now with Rogers and Bell. Insane
I change my home internet every year and never pay more than $40 for unlimited internet.
I don’t understand why people pay $100s of dollars when they can get same service for lot less by switching every year.
They stopped offering promos since the pandemic started last year.
@@robertheintz8017 I got twice from rogers and fido during pandemic.
@@MrKandarisumit I only have Bell or Shaw to pick from.
I don't know where they get that the US pays an average of $99/mo.
I'm paying about $37/mo. for 100+ Mbps.
I guess you don't know what average means lol
My friend in New Mexico, USA gets 300mbp/s for around 60$. What is wrong with Canada where we're not getting nearly those types of speeds for a ton more money... so messed up
high fibre internet 250 gig a month + TV + HDTV = 188$ a month with videotron (193$ this summer)
If a country is so called "developed" as it is, shouldnt the government be putting proper infrastructure and control so that people can get affordable and fair internet prices? It's laughable really.
It’s not like we have a lot of choices past Barrie....lots in urban area not so much in rural.
Last time I checked, some companies couldn't service customers with fiber.
Not true. Customers complain about prices and switches to another provider which is cheaper
Isnt this illegal ?
they all do that. make halfway bill saying your bill circle is started at such date. you get to pay a portion of a month plus a full month for the first bill even if the moment u ask for the service is on the first day of the month. bill u before you get the hardware like sim card or Modem

a lot of Huawei boxes
Definitely a good sign, I know I want Canadian, US AND Chinese authorities watching over me!
No one talks about their "Actual" speed. I pay for 25mbps and my typical connection is from 1 - 5 mbps. Anyone having that problem??
What the ISP is giving you to the modem and what you can get on one device is two different things. No ISP is guaranteeing speed to a device. They're promising a speed to the modem, and it is split across devices. If can try with another device, you can see if you're getting the same results. Also make sure no other device or background app is using the internet - that will definitely be reflected in the speed tests
Follow-up ... I changed to a new ISP, at $24/mo, and now I get "actual" 30mbps! You should check for the best ISP.
people in us campground have twice the speed of the highest speed of canada and they have some guys coming just connecting 2 wire together and everything works lol
OF COURSE because there is a monopole within the very few existing companies and they are not ready to let go of millions of profits for the benefit of 30 millions users....
Sometimes its plain cheaper... if you watch sports channels and tie in phones... sometimes a package is less
Lmao @ anyone still paying for cable, especially if just for sports....
I am thinking of changing to Teksavvy. Still happy with them?
@@robertheintz8017 Yes, best price, $50/month, high-speed unlimited.
I have 2 fiber lines in my house. For 2 Of Bell’s symmetrical gigabit modems. Conextro only has ONE fiber line. I wonder how consistent their speeds are if it’s shared? I’m not switching, just an observation
Im with bell..and can't even make a call
This will depend on several factors:
1) Is the fibre is to be inside or underground all the way, so it is not subject to physical damage from blizzards, accidents, vandals etc.
Michael Timmerman right on. Especially with the repair cost.
That's because they don't have the money, the prestige or the resources to compete with the established ISP's.
I am using coextro I got the madem shipped in 3 days and once my friend who also has coextro had a problem they came after 4 days
I wouldn't even wish for high speed internet if Canada can make its government websites run properly. I'm sick and tired of website's server being down for days whenever I try to access my national tax or student loan account.
Everyone should switch from the big three in Canada like Rogers and bell and Telus.
I use Yaz in the Ottawa Valley. Highly recommend!
This ISP is growing its business via word of mouth lol? Have they heard of the internet?
Seems so efficient! How can we do this with roads and water and even human waste treatment? Imagine the possibilities!
Seriously though, I am ashamed of humanity today.
I always want 2 create my own internet company. Put those dumb Bell/shaw/telus/etc out of business
Frank Hyanze @ if you are serious, let me know, I have a small ISP running already, and looking for a business partner 😀

15/1 is slow!
it is, but they offer other plans too.
Try 6/1.

Because 3rd party providers don't have as fast speeds. 15mbps is slow
40$ for 15mbps? What the actual hell?I use 40mbps for 12.5$
the biggest part of this they missed is that the big 3 are playing dirty pool with the resellers.
Bell and rogers got the monopoly plus if their is any issue with your thirdparty service your company needs to send a technician but they don't have techs so they send either a bell tech or a rogers tech depending who your with but you are not priority to them your not their customer when they come to your house you get what you get
My cell bill is bell but my internet provider is rogers...lol
"why are we not growing quickly"
"we don't have an advertising budget"
fools people go with bell or rogers... shaw and telus or the best but youll get the same speed with a thirdparty and cheap thats a fact
