Breaking Barriers: Working with women of African and Caribbean heritage to break HIV stigma

Dr Dianne Regisford (Evoke Culture Consulting) and Nicola Jones (Terrence Higgins Trust), reflect on the journey of the Breaking Barriers project - a co-production initiative between Terrence Higgins Trust (THT) and African Families in the UK (AFiUK), funded by Oxfordshire County Council.
In this project, we set out to challenge traditional 'top-down' approaches to health promotion by prioritising lived experience and meaningful participation. Together with women of African and Caribbean heritage in Oxfordshire, we produced six multilingual videos to raise awareness of HIV and break down stigma.
