What an insightful interview with Mr. Jabbie! His perspective on the Gambian economy and the potential for growth is truly enlightening. I couldn't agree more with his emphasis on the need for the country to produce more and rely less on imports.

"We need foreign exchange. For what? To buy medicine. Yes, it's important, but if you are hungry, medicine can't cure you. We need to be feed first." Maa Shaa Allah. Words of wisdom indeed. People like Mr Jabbi should be on the spotlight. Let them come forward and educate the youths on key things like this. I will love to meet you Mr Jabbi. Keep it up Gano. Bring us more like him.

I am an economist and not a supporter of our current and past administrations! We need Forex to reinvest into our economy, most if not all the machinery and technology we need to reinforce and structure our economy are not available to buy in The Gambia. So The Gambia needs substantial foreign currency reserves to meet the import needs of our economy and to diversify the economy hence a consumer economy. Our Dalasi is not an international currency and it's weak against major currencies of the world thereby giving The Gambia a Weak Purchasing Power Parity. This is economics not sentiments or nationalism! We need an economist with a great strategic leadership to propel our economy in the right direction and not "fruit cakes"!

His perspective about the broader aspect of life and thinking out of the box is incredible.
More of his kind is needed in the government and among individuals to reframe the story of our country in just a few years.

I can tell you why our government cannot impose trade protectionism in The Gambia; this is due to the world bank and IMF conditional loan offers and balancing payments imposing free trade and would sanction our nation for any breaches. This why we need great negotiators and well experienced economists who can negotiate our interests and understand every contract in international polities.

First, there are some people in the government working but they don’t even know what they’re to do and why they have been assigned to a particular position.
Secondly, when you appoint someone by knowing him or being a relative to him or her is the cause of the first paragraph because the person won’t know what he or she is to do.
Thirdly, when you choose or select someone to work and you knowing that he or she isn’t fit for the position but just for the paycheque to favour him or her interests and yet still don’t want to give the position to someone who can run it.
This is the problem Gambia still having, because we’re having uneducated people running the country, so in that case due to their lack of knowledge or experience and don’t know what to do we’re still suffering and it’s getting more hard there for the poor.
This interview is one of the most important interviews I have watch for a while, Gambia just needs to invest and stand on its own foot rather than depending on import subsidies, and coming to the fact that why businesses is also hard in the country is because the government never helps or cover any financial cost for those investing or doing the businesses because they don’t care about people who cast their votes for them but only for there interest. Bro thanks again for showing us such an important topic in the country and can’t wait to see more.

In economics government investment has what is called the multiplier effect. In whatever way government investment and or subsidise either farming or any other public goods the outcome is always beneficial for the nation in broader perspectives. I have always been saying that we have an economic secularity in The Gambia and we need economists to get us from this economic fraught and immiserisation to sustainable economic stability to improve our Production Possibility Frontier. This is the fact !
