Brilliant video , just answered all my questions. Also been obsessed with mph per 1000 revs in top since motor magazine used to quote it in road tests and as a driver I discovered how relevant it was to quiet cruising and fuel econony. Really good video, thank you.
I have just bought a 2023 Sandero Bi-fuel. It has a 5 speed gearbox but also has Eco mode which when engaged on the motorway brings the revs down a fair bit! Doing about 2,500 rpm at 70 mph. As the guy says in the video that 1litre engine packs quite a punch! Haven't run it on LPG yet as local garage hasn't had any in for a while!
Thanks so much for this it's just what I needed. Just ordered my Bifuel Prestige Duster this morning and was worrying a bit as to whether I should have gone for a bigger engine. This has put me at ease. Thanks so much! I ordered the Arizona Orange, I fancied a bit of a change from the dark colours I usually go for. Can't wait to get it.
Ah! You went for the orange James. I did think about it but Mrs Wife wouldn't forgive me 🙂 I've just turned 14,000 miles in mine with 90% of the time spent at 70mph on the motorway with no trouble at all. We're going on an epic four day road trip in May to Bodo which is in the top end of Norway so it'll get a serious run then. I'm taking Mrs Wife's 2019 1.6 Prestige and my son is driving mine. No doubt there'll be another video to follow that trip 🙂
Thank you so much for this review I have watched many duster reviews this is the first one that answered all my questions I collect my bifuel on Friday and have already found my nearest auto gas supplier
Its my pleasure Wayne. I made it after getting really frustrated about excessively long vides that waffle on and are overlaid with daft music. Welcome to the Duster Club and I hope you're as happy with yours as I am with mine. Best wishes Stu
Great review, just the info I need. Thinking about buying redesign Duster with LPG in low budget version with only A. C. extra because I believe that affordable car should be cheap.
Thanks for this video! Just collected exactly the same model (and colour!) having traded in my 2019 1.0tce Essential. Didn't go looking for one - but got offered a crazy PX deal - it's only after buying it that I'm appreciating the LPG benefits. Wanted to check out filling process before doing it myself - so your video has been ideal. The 6 speed box is definitley an improvement too - and I feel like it idles quieter than the last one - can't hear it at all - thought the stop start was on!
Welcome to the club Phil. I'm up to 7,000 miles now and the engine really loosening up. Motorway cruising is better than ever and at 70 she's averaging 34 on gas. Today I drove from Tewkesbury to Spalding in Lincolnshire, then to Durham and I ran out of gas just as I arrived. That trip cost me £21 in gas 😃

Today a disaster happened whilst on the M180. I timed my fill ups badly and as a consequence ran out of gas. The car flicked over to petrol and all all I could think about was £1.34 per litre down out the exhaust pipe! Only good thing is that I can inform you that over a 30 mile stretch from the M180 to Morrisons, Rotherham I did 70 mph with cruise control on and 47.9 mph on petrol.
is that supposed to be 47.9mpg? I'm looking at getting the Duster 1.0bi myself. A practical car for me as I do a 44 mile round trip to work & back... Flintshire to the M53 to Moreton. Seems a very good option. Never had a Dacia but a number of Meganes and loved them. Great, informative video - many thanks 👌😉
Makes even more sense now in 2022. Everytime I put diesel in my car at my local Morrisons I just wish I could pay the 80p per liter price of the LPG rather than the £1.80 that is diesel nowadays. If the prices keep going up by next year I'll buy a cheap Toyota or something and convert it to LPG as a second car to do the local runs and work commute. Save the diesel one for holidays.
Thanks for the video! Very helpful as I didn’t really know much about LPG. I’m trading my 2020 Duster Essential in next week for a 2021 Prestige Bi-Fuel and I can’t wait after reading all of the positive comments. It will definitely be an investment as I travel a lot! Thanks again 😄
Car has just been in for its first service at 17,200 miles. Its a lot quieter running which just goes to show that an 18,000 mile service interval is just too long. In the old days services were no more than 10,000 miles and although oil might be synthetic these days I still think that's a more realistic range. Two issues have arisen. The fuel filler flap started to stick and sometimes I had to pull the lever a few times to open it. Thats been fixed with an adjustment now. Also the blower motor started to get noisy and that turned out to be a dodgy bearing. Thats been replaced on warranty next week. Other than that we're all ready for the big trip to Bodo at the top of Norway in May 🙂
@@stuartadair it's more than likely due to LPG being heavier than air if there was a leak it would just sit there at possible explosive limits I guess anyways
Wish Dacia would have bi-fuel automatic models. I like the idea of LPG even though the list of retailers selling it is shrinking rapidly. Nearest LPG retailer for me is 10 miles away, but i do not want to go back to a manual transmission. I do like Dacia's honestly with LPG, on their website they admit the MPG takes a 25% hit using LPG over petrol while other sites claim it is only 15-20% loss. Well done Dacia.
Great review, we got our sandero in September 2020 and can't recommend the lpg model enough, as for the additional cost of the lpg option this quickly paid back on the savings. Will definitely be replacing with an another lpg Dacia.
May I ask how you're getting on with finding LPG stations please? I'm looking at one of these as an electric alternative but it looks like mainstream filling stations are dropping lpg. Is that not the case?

Update for you. I turned 10,000 miles last week and started to notice my first issue. When cold starting on petrol the car would run quite rough until it turned onto gas. My theory was that it didn't like eco-silly E10 fuel. Remember E10 absorbs water and I've only ever put £40 in over the last 10,000 miles, so the fuel just sits there in the tank going off. I ran the car up to Birmingham on petrol to get rid of the E10 and then filled back up with proper E5 petrol. She now starts and runs perfectly on petrol. I should have realised that anything prefixed with 'Eco' or 'Environmental' doesn't work. From now on its just proper petrol for me.
It’s recommended that you run the petrol for bout 20 miles every 6 weeks to stop the fuel going off , if longer just add a fuel stabiliser to the tank and your good for up to 6months
Sounds like you have dirty carboned up fuel injectors, you need to run it on ULP i know it hurts the pocket, but better long term [owner of 10x LPG vehicles]
Bought the bifuel couple of weeks ago. Gonna get it in march or so. I was thinking the 1 litre is not powerfull enough... you reassured me... thanks...
Depends on you right foot. These engines are long stroke engine built for torque. What is the most important thing is not to run it in the highest gear all the time because the engine will do it ( above 2000!rpm) Instead when you get below about 2400 rpm shift down to 5th gear. It doesn’t change fuel economy a lot but it makes the engine rev a wee bit more with more ease. If you stick to 60 mph best simply drive in 5th gear. Or shift up when going downhill. The engine will happily pull above 2000 rpm as thats peak torque anyway but you need to ask yourself if you want a wee bit more revs or a slower turning engine in 6th gear getting hot.
Well I say I don't really care :-) After 3 years I'll be changing it and up to then its covered by the full Dacia warranty. I can tell you that I've just completed a 5000 mile completely faultless drive to Bodo in Norway and back, so it cant be all bad :-)
We have petrol 1.3 low spec model. Thinking of higher spec so to afford we are looking at 1litre lpg. What's the petrol tank capacity? And do you press some sort of switch for lpg? I have no idea how they work
Nothing wrong with the 5 speed works really well On the motorway Owned it now for 3 years Use the Eco mode on the motorways Knox the revs right down. I achieve between 45 and 50 miles per gallon
Fair comment. I've just driven 4700 miles in a 5 speed from Tewkesbury to Bodo in Norway. My son drove my 6 speed version. I was doing around 300 rpm more on the motorway and that made a difference to noise more than anything.
Hi. It’s the first I’ve heard of a turbo issue. I would expect it to last the full life of the car as long as it gets regular oil changes. I’ve just turned 70,000 today funny enough and it’s still going strong.
Just a quick update. I'm two weeks in now. The car has got 1300 miles on it and my average motorway consumption has risen to 36.9 mpg and 32.0 around town. Yesterday I filled at Strensham services (M5), drove to Warrington, back down to Willenhall and across to Rotherham (274 miles) where I filled for £17.50 which is £6.38 to do 100 miles. To get the same cost out of petrol / diesel at £1.35 ltr I would have needed to do 96.1 mpg. The range on the dashboard said that I could do 240 miles when I filled at Strensham and the gauge went red just before Derby on the A38, but it just kept going and never ran out. I was driving between 68 and 70 mph.
That's great fuel on pricing. I'm looking at getting an LPG model but just trying to figure out if I can recoup the costs on my current Skoda Fabia 1.4 TDI which already has good fuel economy. I drive about 65 miles per day and like to put my foot down unfortunately, so hoping that the fuel economy still holds up. Thanks for the vid!
Have you been refused a fill up due to the adapter,,and has pump ever got stuck to adapter,,or adapter stuck to car,,and,,after a few months has passed now,are you still enjoying the bi fuel,,mine is due to built in August,, ordered it in March, but due to an lpg part shortage, the build had been delayed
Appreciate the video, got a LPG sandero on order. Nightmare to find videos showing refilling of the LPG! Seen a couple different LPG pump types - the adapter is a bayonet fit, do you know if it'll fit the other style? A video of actually filling up would be great, if possible.
Hi Mara- can you please tell me how long its been on order for and when they expect it to arrive and the dealership. Im trying to get one but its urgent cos my cars been written off. Cheers
Hi Mara. This is probably the best video for the LPG filling process ua-cam.com/video/Qsun2rYfaU4/v-deo.html . The only issue I've found is making sure that the adaptor is finger-tight when you screw it in, otherwise it doesn't form a tight seal and the pump doesn't work. Morrisons pumps have a slightly different twist handle which I've found to be easier than the types that have the twist at the end of the nozzle, but they're all basically the same. Also don't forget to download the Autogas App which shows where the nearest station is. In the UK we're all bayonet but across Europe they use a variety of types. You can buy a full set of adaptors off ebay for about £35 (Search Autogas adaptor set). Best wishes Stu
Hi. Have you downloaded the official Autogas App? I was working in Verwood recently and filled up at Esso Ringwood but it was really expensive at 79p litre. Dorset isn't well represented to be fair. Looks like Swanage is currently the cheapest at 76.9. That's a scandalous price when I filled up last week in Birmingham for 55p.
Hi Folks. An update is long overdue. The car now has 38,000 miles and is 18 months old. She's completed a fully loaded trip to the top end of Norway and back without a single hitch and apart from a sticking fuel filler cap, has been fault free. Front tyres lasted about 28,000 miles and I've just changed rears after a puncture. They still had about 3mm on. MPG has dropped slightly and on gas I'm getting 30mpg at motorway speeds and 40mpg on petrol. I've calculated that the variance between LPG and Petrol needs to be 60p for me to break even and its now getting very rare to find LPG for less then 99.9p. There's the odd place around but not many. So alas it looks like the industry have just about killed LPG through their own greed. Dealer has already got me booked in for next July to look at an early exchange for a Bigster which comes out in March 23. I'm told there's a PHEV engine which I'll be looking at closely.
@@bondjamesbond7634 Spot on. I'm working in Plymouth at the moment and filled up at Sainsburys in Taunton for 59.9p but the amount of places at this lower price are getting less and less. If it carries on the industry will outprice itself.
One question about LPG system. In older cars with non factory lpg you had to fill a special lpg oil for valves. In this car i didn't find a tank where to fill it. Dont exist on factory LPG?
Hi, I've run several cars in the past with big motorway miles (100K plus) that I've had converted and never once had any valve damage or needed to put any special oils in. I think its perhaps a bit of a throwback myth from the days before valves were hardened to cope with lead free fuels. Since the early 80's when lead free came to the UK I believe the hardened valve seats took away the risk of damage. Dacia certainly don't use any different engine oils or additives for the LPG version. Best wishes Stu
I'm considering the jogger for a taxi. Can I ask if you've had any problems with the lpg filler adapter, and do you happen to know if the engines are altered to protect the valves. I can remember some taxi drivers with conversions, installing a lubrication feed.
Hi. I'm up to 16000 miles in 7 months so far and the only issue I've had is the fuel filler flap sometimes gets stuck and I have to pull the lever a couple of times. Its in for the first service next month so I'm sure its just a tweak. There have been zero issues with the bayonet adaptor, however I would recommend buying a spare off ebay in case you lose it. You need to order the M10 size. I've just left a comment below ref the old valve issue but I'll paste it again, "Hi, I've run several cars in the past with big motorway miles (100K plus) that I've had converted and never once had any valve damage or needed to put any special oils in. I think its perhaps a bit of a throwback myth from the days before valves were hardened to cope with lead free fuels. Great info - thanks, something worth considering- I’ve heard the new E10 petrol deteriorates faster than E5. I guess if you use mostly LPG, you’ll need to be careful how long your E10 is in your tank.
Its actually something I've been thinking about as I've heard that E10 'goes off' after a relatively short period of time. I'm considering running on petrol for a while to use it up just so I can refresh the tank. Like anything with the tag 'Eco' or 'Environmental' E10 petrol just doesn't work.
During the summer months I only put 5 litres of fuel in as it lasts at least 2 months, the engine takes longer to warm up in winter even with the A/C helping I've noticed the engine will try to switch to gas as quickly as possible but will turn back to petrol under acceleration easily until warm.
@@petehudson595 Your right Pete. I've had plenty of LPG cars but never one that flicks onto LPG as fast as the Duster. It'll be really interesting to see how it performs in the winter.
Does your duster gearbox whine in high gears, I took a 1.3tc with 6 speed box, and there was a pronounced whine like straight cut gears. Not loud but enough
Hi. No, not at all. I've never heard any noise coming from the gearbox. That all sounds very strange. I wonder if they fit a different box to the 1.3tce compared to the LPG 1.0?
The no spare wheel ended any small interest I had in lpg , + the lack of refuelling stations near us , stick to the 1.3 Tce me thinks , when is the duster auto coming to the UK , can’t find a uk vid on them , good review !
I'm seriously considering going for an extreme lpg version. I've an 80 mile round trip for work 5 days a week but a little concerned about the talk of lpg being pulled from the petrol stations. Not sure if its just a lot of rubbish Internet talk or an actual possibility.
Hi, I've been hearing the same for years but the gas stations are still out there. I think there at about 1500 in the UK at the moment. Download the Autogas app or go to www.autogas.app/ for a full map of stations and prices. At 45mpg and fuel costing £1.70 pl then your spending around £68 per week currently (£3293pa). LPG at 32mpg and 75p pl would bring that down to £42 per week (£2043 pa)
@@stuartadair I'm driving a 1.5 diesel Ford focus at the moment and it's still around the £60 a week point. Taking the car payments and gas payments together the duster would be costing me something similar per month though I'd have a brand new car at the door, decent warranty no mot's and could probably squeeze 3 years servicing out of them lol
@@120spb Hi. I had exactly the same dilemma with an old XF I used to run for work. I do about 27,000 miles a year and was a complete no-brainer to go for the Duster. In three years I'll just chop it in for a new one 🙂
Just to add, I got my 2022 duster and first fill at an Asda was 43 litres at 72.7p costing £31. I drove 260 miles and got 32.9mpg on gas. Still had 90 mile range! I’ll be using up the standard fuel it came with and will put £15 of premium shell or Esso in. That e10 won’t be keeping well for any long periods of time. The gas button is now integrated with a normal button and factory finish with range and level on the dash info with the mileage etc.
Great review. Test drove one today, the little tce is adequate, car definitely would suit a diesel but would be a bad time to invest in one. The LPG is a mild boon for no cost currently (£100 difference I think from new), what's the rough mpg on petrol and LPG now you have had it a while? Thanks
Hi, 95% of my driving is on the motorway at 70mph. On gas I'm getting 33-35 mpg and on the rare occasions I drop onto petrol its goes up to 40-45 mpg. If you look at the financial case it becomes compelling. On gas I use 2.8 gallons to do 100 miles and with current prices being a high 68p per litre it costs £8.64. On petrol I'd us 2.2 gallons to do 100 miles but at £1.40 per litre it would cost £13.98. Incidentally at 55mpg and £1.45 per litre, diesel would use 1.8 gallons = £11.84.
Hi,,,picking up a new bi fuel in a few months,,just a quick question,,when starting the car from cold,,would I need to have it in petrol mode,,or,,can I have it in lpg mode,,and the car will switch itself to lpg when it's heated up enough
Hi. I just leave mine on gas all the time which is effectively the Auto setting. It starts on petrol and then turns onto gas as soon as there's a bit of heat in the engine. Stu
It is very concerning at the shrinking number of LPG outlets, i was shortlisting the new 2024 Duster LPG model but my nearest LPG station is 9 miles away and the next one after that is 18 miles. Waiting to test drive the new model in summer as the 2024 duster LPG model is 3 CYC 1 Litre 100 bhp which does not sound right for a car the size of the 2024 Duster. A test drive in the country roads and hills near me will soon tell me if i need something with more oomph. Not clear from reviews so far if the 2024 LPG model is manual or an auto box.
Hi Cesar. Absolutely. The car will always start on petrol until the engine reaches a certain temperature. Compared to other LPG cars I've run the Dacia turns onto gas at a very low temperature. Once you're on gas then it stays using that fuel until the gas runs out, then automatically reverts back to petrol. The switching system is fully automatic but you can take manual control if you want and dictate when it uses gas and petrol. You always need some petrol in to start the car but only a small amount. That brings its own issues however, see my note below ref E10 petrol. Stu
Hi! I just got a sandero bifuel, I’ve tried a couple of times to fuel the LPG but I just cannot make it work, and today noticed it said on the pump that the adapter isn’t recommended. Any idea how I’m meant to fill up?! It’s driving me mad having a cheaper alternative taunting me 😂😂
Hiya. Forget the sign about the adaptor, everyone else does. What are you having issues with? Screwing in the adaptor, connecting the hose or the actual fill. Have a look on UA-cam as there are loads of "How to" videos on filling with gas. Remember its very different from petrol. Once you connect the hose and press the fill button it can take up to a minute to pressurise the hose, especially in cold weather.
The actual fill seems to be an issue, but having watched some more videos last night I’m not sure I’ve attached it correctly!! I’ll give it another go this weekend! Thank you for replying!! X
@@jolenewilliams1624 Cool. Let us know how you get on. Some of the nozzles can be a bit of a challenge and can unscrew the adaptor when you turn to attach the nozzle. I keep a glove in the car to give the adaptor a good tighten if I get a leaky nozzle.
Hi , great review. I am awaiting delivery of a bi fuel sandero stepway and I have noticed that Dacia have just pulled the plug on all bi fuel models in the Uk. The dealer has told me that it is due to difficulty getting parts for this engine . I have also read an article by Autocar that states that a Dacia representative has told them it is because of a shortage of autogas in the Uk . Have you experienced any difficulties getting lpg lately as it sounds as if we may be in the same part of the world ? Any info would be really helpful, thanks.
@@gerardowen6030 so. i was thinking about this today. i am not sure that would be a logical reason. the lpg pumps i have been to so far would not be usable by a 30 minutes to 1 hr fill ups. in all cases, that would defo interrupt the flow of vehicles to the other 'normal' pumps. i think there must be another reason. conversely, i used morrisons supermarket the other day, only because i was filling up. a small shop - probs £30 which they wouldn't have got if they didn't have an lpg pump. i thought it was marginally more expensive than the tesco along the road but at least i dont have to faff about stopping at two places; i'll go back. be interesting to see where the market goes but obviously i would like to see more and cheaper 🙂
My wife has had a bi-fuel sandero Stepway for a while now and the constant messing about with this stupid adapter that comes with these cars and trying to connect the pump is a real pain in the backside tbh.
Nobody seems to mention Its nigh on impossible to find an LPG filling station in the UK Most large fuel retailers are phasing them out ans replacing them.with EV charging points. I paid £1500 to have my car converted last year and I may as well not have botheted
Hi I'm in Turkey and have been running a diesel Duster 90bhp that I superchiped to 110bhp brilliant car only an interior door handle and new tyres since 2014. Looking to change it now. Considered the bi fuel but was worried 100bhp wasn't enough for safe overtaking . What are your thoughts does it pick up quickly for b roads ?
Go and take a test drive, believe me you'll be surprised. As the Duster is so light 100bhp feels absolutely fine. I was cruising down the motorway earlier today with no issues whatsoever.
I have to say a bit disappointing. I’m on the motorway most of the time, 70mph in economy mode and I typically see 31-32 mpg on gas and 38-40 on petrol. The car has a full Dacia service history and now 75,000 miles so it’s had everything it needs but I’ve never got much above that.
@@stuartadair thank you so much for commenting! We're planning on buying a LPG Duster in 2025, we're very excited! Those consumptions translates to around 7.5-8L/100km, hmmm it isn't what i was expecting, but considering LPG is so cheap, it ends up paying off. Thank you, again, for taking time to reply : )
Thanks a lot mate - great review. I dont know much about LPG. Can i ask you a few questions. 1) Presumably i can just run on petrol if theres no LPG garage around. 2) can I run the car just on LPG or do you have to use petrol as well? 3) is the car any slower or heavier if both are used?
1) yes u can 2)its using petrol only to start the engin, its takes Seconds to change itselfs for LPG. 3) duster is faster on LPG (100 HP), petrol (90HP). Ive got duster 1.6 sce 2019. Duster F2. IT will be out in september , got new lights and bigger lpg tank. 👍
100% agree with Adammmm''s reply below. I've mamaged to time my fill ups so I never drop onto petrol so my gauge hasn't moved since I collected the car. During the winter the switchover takes a little longer but we're only talking 30 seconds or so. In the summer the change over happens within a few seconds of setting off. The strange thing is the engine which outperform's my wife's 1.6 petrol version easily, and is a lot quieter. I think a lot is down to the fact that LPG is 110 RON rather than the usual 95 RON of petrol so its like running on super-fuel. I can put the car on the motorway and not have to change up and down gear for hills at all. If you're still not convinced then let me tell you that yesterday I filled at Strensham services on the M5 (64.9p ltr), drove to Warrington, Willenhall and then Rotherham for work where I filled up again at Morrisons for £17.50. The cost is amazing. As per the reply below, don't forget to download the Autogas App so you can see where the stations are and the latest prices. Best wishes Stu
OMG Thank you!!! I don't think I could've watched another crap video with that tacky euro pop muzak. I just needed the facts. What is the range with both tanks full? Cheers
HI Nicholas. On gas I'm getting an average of 33 at 70 mph and currently paying around 68p per litre. On petrol I get around 45 mpg at the same 70 mph and pay £1.65 per litre as have to use proper E5 petrol as per my previous posting below. It really doesn't like E10 fuel. Stu
@@stuartadair stu that’s brilliant. Much better than this crap thing I am driving. I got the Mitsubishi outlander PHEV because they said I can do 140 miles to the gallon. But you will get over 100 miles to the gallon but only for about three minutes then the rest of the time you’re lucky if you’re not running on the 2.4 L petrol engine. When I am doing 60 to 70 on the motorway I’m getting in the high 20s per gallon it’s a terrible car for this day and age I will be looking at a biofuel Thank you
@@nicholasr82 I'm not surprised by those figures Nicholas. I looked at the Outlander a while back and the feedback on the forums was pretty much as you were saying. I previously had a Lexus IS300h which gave me 53mpg regardless of use, motorway or city driving, however the price of the hybrids shot up a couple of years ago which made LPG the really attractive choice again.
How much can this car tow with this 1 litre engine running on gas and does it have an automatic available, or will it? Also, does it come with 4WD as well? Please let me know.
Hi. Its getting to be a bit difficult in places. Apparently 70% of the LPG is imported from Russia and the UK suppliers are quite rightly prioritising household deliveries. A lot of the South seems to be hit worst but Birmingham upwards is ok. I filled up yesterday in Birmingham for 67p for example. I fear its a situation that's not going to improve 😞
@@christianpullen2165 Yes, that's from Walsall LPG Station, Hollyhedge Lane, WS2 8PU. I've just checked the Autogas app and he's selling today at 68p per litre.
I got 2022 1.0 biofuel and spec says 48 litre tank,it's more like 42 litres, apparently u need space for air ,can't definitely confirm as was told by a stranger on a forecourt, but did get nearly 400 miles on full tank then completely empty, mostly motorway, 90 miles normal road
Hi. I've never filled the LPG version right to the brim (It'd take me a year to use it all). But Mrs Wife has a 1600 petrol and that has a range of 420 miles when full with a mix of driving. The LPG Duster used mainly on the motorway at 70mph has a range of 260 miles so the combined total would be about 680 miles.
Thanks a lot for the reply. Meanwhile I cant buy a new Dacia Sandero as nobody’s got one, possibly for months, and my cars been written off so cant wait. If you or your subscribers know anyone!
Wow! That's not good at all. I know there's big delays due to the global chip shortage. My car was delayed for a couple of weeks at the import centre but I think I just got lucky. I test drove a Sandero a while back and its a great car. Hi. LPG engines always start on petrol and flick over to gas automatically when the engine reaches a certain temperature, so you have to have some petrol in at all times. The Duster switches over at a really low temperature though. Last summer I put £20 fuel in that lasted 3 months. The range on a full tank of gas is about 275 miles at 70 mph on the motorway and the LPG tank holds 34 ltrs.

I was worried about that too but you'd think it had a 1600 under the bonnet if you never knew. 6th gear, cruise control on at 70mph and the engine doesn't feel strained and with enough power if you want to get in the third lane and play with the big-boys. The car is really light, even compared to my wife's 1600 petrol, you can really feel the difference the physically smaller engine makes Go and take one for a test drive and you'll see what I mean. Best wishes Stu

Middle man britain no one complains..... the prices on the autogas app seem to vary wildy too got a few with 60p a litre though. makes me think these corrupt governments will put autogas up soon too.
@@createspaceone I've been running LPG cars on and off for the last ten years and taxation on gas was spoken about even before that. I think the issue the Government has is that LPG is a household fuel so it would be effectively a further tax on heating your house. The other thing is that as LPG drivers we're slightly out of sight and out of mind of the mainstream. Indeed a lot of people I speak to just don't know that Autogas is so its good to be under the radar. Prices do vary as you say, and its good you've got the Autogas App as thats the most accurate one I've found. Bizarrely the cheapest near me is Strensham Services on the M5 at 64p litre vs. their diesel price of £1.65 ltr. We're crying out for some real political opposition in Britain Mike, so perhaps it'll come from the 30M disgruntled drivers ? Stu
@@stuartadair I think you may be right it may well go under the radar with the big electric push also. Hard to say. I actually have solar power on my roof so wanted electric but the prices are obscene, twice the amount of the duster and after 20 years probably a battery needed too and by that time probably want something modern so defeats the purpose of the initial cost.
Thank you for this video. I was at the Dacia dealership in Athlone Ireland yesterday and it seems that the comments are right that they will not have the Sandero models available until December. I would like to ask you if the engine in the Sandero LPG version is the same engine that you show in your Duster. I would like to tow a small boat or trailer and if it is the same engine I would prefer the new sandero. Ah but your little 1.2 Micra was only 78 bhp and geared so it wouldn't go over 60 mph. I'm quite happy at 2550 at 70mph in 6th.
What's mpg like?
Thanks so much for this it's just what I needed. Just ordered my Bifuel Prestige Duster this morning and was worrying a bit as to whether I should have gone for a bigger engine.
Good to hear that little engine does the job.
Glad I found this video, just considering a LPG Duster at the moment and you have answered a few of my questions. 👍

@@ram64man Sound advice my friend. Now the weather is a bit colder I'll be running on petrol a little more anyway. Best wishes Stu

yeah the turbo is feels quicker but i hear it doesn't age very well unlike naturally aspirated 1.6L ? waddya say to that ?
Great review. Thank you for your time. I'm going to have a look at one of these 👍
Great stuff, thanks for the RPM info.
We have petrol 1.3 low spec model. Thinking of higher spec so to afford we are looking at 1litre lpg. What's the petrol tank capacity? And do you press some sort of switch for lpg?
I have no idea how they work
What is the total range from both tanks please
Nothing wrong with the 5 speed works really well On the motorway Owned it now for 3 years Use the Eco mode on the motorways Knox the revs right down. I achieve between 45 and 50 miles per gallon
Fair comment. I've just driven 4700 miles in a 5 speed from Tewkesbury to Bodo in Norway. My son drove my 6 speed version. I was doing around 300 rpm more on the motorway and that made a difference to noise more than anything.
Could anybody explain how the eco mode could knock the revs down? (I suppose we are talking about same speed, same gear of course)?
Very useful video, thanks. Re the turbo, is it true that it's a service replacement item at 70k? If not, what is the likely service life of the turbo?
Hi. It’s the first I’ve heard of a turbo issue. I would expect it to last the full life of the car as long as it gets regular oil changes. I’ve just turned 70,000 today funny enough and it’s still going strong.
Any update on the Duster LPG?
Better review than the alleged "experts"
Thank you 🙂
Just a quick update.

Can the engine run on a blend of the LPG and Petrol, or is it strictly one fuel type at a time?
Hi, what is the LPG consumption per 100 km?

@@henrysmith883 November, I'm told. Another dealer I spoke with said Nov-Dec too.
Great article. Can you change from LPG to petrol while driving?
Yes and it’s fairly seamless. If the car runs out of gas whilst driving then you get a few beeps and it just switches over to petrol.
I'm looking at buying the sandero stepway bifuel, however finding an autogas supplier in Dorset is a bit of a challenge it seems 🤔

Hello do you have a link to buy a spare?
Great review. Thanks.

Stu
What’s your thoughts on the reducing number of Autogas filling stations
It is very concerning at the shrinking number of LPG outlets, i was shortlisting the new 2024 Duster LPG model but my nearest LPG station is 9 miles away and the next one after that is 18 miles. Waiting to test drive the new model in summer as the 2024 duster LPG model is 3 CYC 1 Litre 100 bhp which does not sound right for a car the size of the 2024 Duster. A test drive in the country roads and hills near me will soon tell me if i need something with more oomph. Not clear from reviews so far if the 2024 LPG model is manual or an auto box.
Hello. Is it possible to use just LPG only, instead of gasoline? (at least while driving in city areas). I apologize for my ignorance in this matter.
Hi Cesar. Stu
Just called in at BP Weatherby services. Diesel £204.9. Petrol £202.9. LPG 77.9. :-) :-)
When I start the car up can I do it with LPG on or should it be with petrol
It always starts with petrol, but once it's started you can then switch to LPG.
SUCCESS!! Thank you so much for your help ☺️☺️☺️

Sadly I have heard that due to lack of demand a lot of petrol garages have stopped selling LPG probably to make room for more electric stations
@@gerardowen6030 so. i was thinking about this today. i am not sure that would be a logical reason. the lpg pumps i have been to so far would not be usable by a 30 minutes to 1 hr fill ups. in all cases, that would defo interrupt the flow of vehicles to the other 'normal' pumps. i think there must be another reason. conversely, i used morrisons supermarket the other day, only because i was filling up. a small shop - probs £30 which they wouldn't have got if they didn't have an lpg pump. i thought it was marginally more expensive than the tesco along the road but at least i dont have to faff about stopping at two places; i'll go back. be interesting to see where the market goes but obviously i would like to see more and cheaper 🙂
looks so good
My wife has had a bi-fuel sandero Stepway for a while now and the constant messing about with this stupid adapter that comes with these cars and trying to connect the pump is a real pain in the backside tbh.
Nobody seems to mention
Its nigh on impossible to find an LPG filling station in the UK
Most large fuel retailers are phasing them out ans replacing them.with EV charging points.
How easy is it to get LPG? My local petrol station doesn't have any
Hi. Download the AutoGas app (Online at www.autogas.app/) and you'll find loads 🙂
What is the mpg solely on LPG?
1) yes u can
2)its using petrol only to start the engin, its takes Seconds to change itselfs for LPG.
Cheers
Hi Ronnie. Full tank will get you around 275 miles at 70mph on the motorway. Stu
What mpg are you getting just on petrol and what are you getting just on gas?
If you know thank you.
When I am doing 60 to 70 on the motorway I’m getting in the high 20s per gallon it’s a terrible car for this day and age I will be looking at a biofuel
Thank you
@@nicholasr82 I'm not surprised by those figures Nicholas.
Hi. According to the Dacia website it'll tow 1300kg (1.3 tonnes in English). Only currently available in 2WD manual.
@@stuartadair thanks 👍
How are you finding the availability of lpg on your travels?
@@stuartadair Is that 67p pet litre?
@@christianpullen2165 Yes, that's from Walsall LPG Station, Hollyhedge Lane, WS2 8PU. I've just checked the Autogas app and he's selling today at 68p per litre.
How big is the LPG tank in litres?
Hi. 34 Ltrs. Stu
What’s the combination range, assuming both tanks full?
Have a chat with Ruby Davies at Bristol Street Motors on 01452 640620 She managed to pull some strings to get my car to me so hopefully she can do the same for you. Best wishes Stu.
@@stuartadair you said that you test drive new sandero. Can you compare sound isolation in Duster and Sandero. Can you tell that Duster is higher class?
@@drazengrosinic8116 Hi - we moved from a Stepway to a Duster 2 years ago and it was a definite improvement - felt a different car altogether. My brother has the new Stepway and it's much different - but we didn't go for one of those because internal space is much better with the Duster. Good luck!
Are there different types of LPG?, sort of one for central heating and one for automotive, or is LPG simply LPG.
Hi. Autogas LPG is a specific mix of butaine and propane I believe.
@@stuartadair there are mainly two types of autogas: winter and summer. That is due to different temperatures...
Can you run it on LPG alone? if so - what range would you get?
Camchain or timing belt?
Timing chain. It's very similar in design to the Toyota 3 cyl fitted to the C1.
am thinking of getting the new 2022 model. only thing that puts me off is the 1 litre engine hauling around that big vehicle? my first car was a fiat uno with 1 litre engine lol. whats it like on motorways?
Hi Mike. I spend 95% of my driving miles up and down the motorway. I'm up to 8500 miles now.
@@stuartadair thanks stuart! have you seen the price of petrol and diesel its gone disgustingly insane.
The lpg tank is too small, but overall still very worth it
Thank you for this video.
Thanks again for the useful information I was weary of the 3 cyclinder engine but your review has helped me.
How much does a tank of LPG cost you?
Hi. I have a 34 Ltr tank and it costs between 65p per ltr and 79p per ltr so between £22 and £26 if filling from empty.

1 litre engine in a car that big? 😅 the 1.2L micra i had was screaming at me in the motorways
I’m so glad i have a 1.6L Skoda Superb
70 on motorway in my Skoda sits nicely at 1950rpm
Ah but your little 1.2 Micra was only 78 bhp and geared so it wouldn't go over 60 mph. I'm quite happy at 2550 at 70mph in 6th. Wonder how happy you are with your Skoda paying £1.80 per litre at the moment? I filled up yesterday for 80p litre. Still a crazy price mind you, but a lot better than being ripped off by petrol and diesel 🙂
@@stuartadair it’s only £1.65 near me 😌 and a full tank lasts about 600 miles
@@adammoorby99 Your tank is 60 ltrs x £1.65 = £99 to fill. 60 ltrs = 13.1 gallons. 600/13.1 = 45.8 mpg
600 miles in my car on the motorway at 70 = 35 mpg = 17.1 gallons = 77.7 ltrs @ 80p ltr = £62.16 to fill

Saving over an average annual mileage of 10,000 miles is £614
