    I recently completed a mat Pilates instructor course and was extatic to teach others and do something I enjoy. I also realised how sexist the industry can be being male how employers are only looking for female instructors as being male can make other clients feel uncomfortable.
    I was turned down numerous times and even was told by one employer nobody would hire a male Pilates instructor.
    I haven't given up and will still continue to find work in the industry

    • @MargaretElizabethLLC
      @MargaretElizabethLLC  2 роки тому +1

      There are definitely a LOT of issues in the Pilates/Fitness industry. But you will find a good fit for you!! And that is absolutely not true that 'nobody will hire a male instructor'!! One of my mentors is male- he is knowledgeable and clients love him. There are a ton of big name instructors too that are male, so that studio has no clue, and obviously has such an outdated way of thinking!!

    How was anatomy taught at the start of your training? How intensive did they get into it? I'm super interested to become an instructor, but I was wondering if I should get a head start before starting the actual program because I'm coming in cold re: biomechanics

    • @MargaretElizabethLLC
      @MargaretElizabethLLC  3 роки тому +3

      So I had to do a whole anatomy course before I even did my teacher training. I had previous anatomy and physio experience from college and from my personal training cert, so I wasn't going in completely blind. Any teacher training is going to go pretty in depth with anatomy but if you don't have the base knowledge it wouldn't hurt to get a head start!

    • @MargaretElizabethLLC

      It depends on what you want to do with it! If you want to teach in person and are looking to get a studio job you'll want a Pilates Training program that is accredited through the Pilates Method Alliance. If you are looking just to get college credit, it would be fine. But I honestly don't know of any programs are offered through community colleges!

    • @MargaretElizabethLLC

    • @Thepilateschick
      @Thepilateschick 3 роки тому

      @@MargaretElizabethLLC most comprehensive training you have to do all the reformer, mat, barrels, Cadillac, chair ect. You can’t pick and choose with peak and they are the top of the line for teacher training

    • @MargaretElizabethLLC
      @MargaretElizabethLLC  3 роки тому

      @@Thepilateschick I am rereading the comment that I made, you're totally right, to do a comprehensive training you would have to do all the modules to then be comprehensively certified. What I meant was that with some trainings if you don't want to do the whole training or be comprehensively certified, like if you are doing training just to learn and not to teach, you can take individual modules.

      Any pilates instructor course that has no in person courses is not respected by Pilates Studios. You may be able to get in at a gym and if that's your goal then great but if you want to expand into studios and possibly make more money then it is better to use ones that have in person training.
