DIY tip: instead of actually cutting rips in the shorts to distress them, just use the tip of the scissors and do a back and forth scratching motion on them.
Or poke holes with the tip. That way it leaves some cross threads. :)
If you want an actual distressed hole, cut two slits horizontally (distance apart depends on how big you want the hole to be) and then use tweezers to pull the vertical strings between the two holes. Hope this makes sense lol there’s videos on it if you want to look it up

In the early 90's I used to do this. I also sewed lace to the bottom of acid wash jean cutoffs. Another variation I used to do was to buy a smaller waist size and cut down the thigh from top to bottom and sew in a flannel plaid insert to make them fit - if that makes any sense. I thought I was very cool :)

You could also do the cute patches ( I just did a jean jacket where I sewed flower fabric underneath, and sewed around the shape and cut away the fabric on top) ... super cute, love me some diy!
I love it. I have been doing this and I love these length shorts. Tight and people complain. If it were looser pants people would still complain and say it looks sloppy. Can’t win. You go girls! I love it!

I can’t with that length. I would rather cuff my jeans a few times, or wear regular shorts. I feel like shorts should fit a little looser on the leg. And those are an odd length. Gap has an awesome “boyfriend” short if your looking for cute shorts.

Savana Fulson I’m familiar with undergarments... but they do not wear garments like some LDS. I’ve noticed that they mostly save them for church. 😀
They're not shorts. At that length that they are, those are called bermudas. Not sure why they call them shorts.

@@courtneymariah91 they definitely wear their garments nearly all the time. The four S's are when it is acceptable to not wear them: swimming, showering, sweating (exercising, but some people choose to still wear their garments), and sex. These ladies are devoted members and wear their garments.

Curious as to why you guys wear your shorts so long? I would die of heat if my shorts were that long. Would be nice if guys came out with shorts at some point that are like the boyfriend cut shorts. I feel like boyfriend cut type of shorts are just the right length and they look super cute rolled.

Farmless Farmgirl but you can be modest with shorts that have a three inch inseam also. More flattering too ( at least for me)
McCall McRae I get its for religious reason but it doesn’t make sense why so long. For instance. I always went to a Christian camp and they were all about being modest. The dress code was that the shorts had to just have a three inch inseam and no shorter. That’s still modest and cute. Having shorts to your knees are almost capris.
In our religion we wear undergarments that reach mid thigh, sometimes longer on short people. So if we had shorter shorts our undergarments would poke out and nobody wants to see that! 😂😂 it definitely gets hot in the summer, but it is worth it! And it's a personal choice whether to wear the garments or not, nobody is forced.
After I started watching you ladies' channels a few years ago I noticed how you cut your pants into shorts and I've been doing it ever since....thank you!! I hate my legs and hate buying shorts!! Also, I am tall and most pants are too short on me...so no waste! ♥️

I’ve actually been planning to do this this summer with a couple of my jeans that are too short. This was perfect timing! I never would have thought of doing the distressed look though! Love it! 😊

I love this! I personally am not a fan of shorts but my young teen girls are! I think I'll try this with them and their old jeans. I love the idea of choosing the length based on individual height and preference.
A little tip in wanting to distress your pants take any pants that you’re willing to distress I put something hard in between maybe piece of cardboard. And I take a butter knife I find works best and just start rubbing back-and-forth and you’ll notice the material to start to bunch away and start distressing you could also do the method you used With a scissor and then just pull the threads out of the pants a little

Those pants seem way too tight, I can see both of your knee caps through the fabric! When pants have those line pulls on your stomach that means they are too tight.

Well they are white pants which always seem tighter/look tighter bc white is always a little translucent. Also they can wear whatever they are comfortable in- they both have beyond awesome bodies. Leave them be.

I have similar story with a power drill. At about 6 years old I thought I’d play mad scientist and check to see if my older sister had a brain. I held the drill a little bit away from her head and pulled the trigger. Her hair got wrapped around it and a huge chunk of her hair got pulled out. I ran and hid in a closet, certain that my sister would hate me forever, haha. She wasn’t mad at me. But she did have to wear her hair with a part for quite a while to hide the bald spot. =)

I love the distressed look, but I have to ask as a fellow G wearer how do you guys wear the distressed and your garments without the distressing holes just showing your garments off?? Do you have a tip on that??

Janine Lee Yes, they would definitely show. They go to the knee.
You have to rememeber there are petite one aswell. Tall people use them which helps them wear sshorter clothes. I have many friends who do this.

They aren’t even Mormon, they’re members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The term “Mormon” hasn’t been used in years and is actually considered derogatory now.

Anna B the YAWI family talked about it. Johnny said that they haven’t been called Mormons for years and they don’t like being called that. Aka it’s a rude/derogatory term now.

This style of shorts are so unflattering for women. I ask a few men in my family what they thought of this style and everyone said the were awful looking. They said they didn't like them to short but being tight at the knees does nothing for them no matter what size you are. 😝

Those pants are not flattering in that color with how tight they are. I know LDS people wear Bermuda type shorts, but they are so unflattering for EVERYbody type. Wear traditional shorts or cropped pants. Yikes

LDS people wear Bermuda shorts because once they get married in the temple they wear special, white “garment” underwear that is knee length. I use to be mormon and it was difficult finding cute clothes to cover them. Knee length shorts are just not flattering.
If they were so modest they wouldn’t wear bikinis.......
I think they both look cute in them. That’s a stretch to say it’s unflattering on all body types.
