- After battling the horrible pre detonation issues with my small block 351w I finally came to the conclusion that the carb itself was the problem. I switched it out with a 750 double pumper I had on my big block and it solved the issue. In conclusion the old carb was starving the engine for fuel and part throttle. This could have been a jet issue, it also could have been a vacuum leak inside the carb causing the lean mixture but either way I am relived that it’s not pinging and pounding on the pistons constantly anymore.
Love your grill!
Thanks!
2 easy solutions with your pinging. Add a air/fuel gauge to your exhaust. An air/fuel gauge is beneficial for several reasons. Also add a wooden carburetor spacer. Good chana your experiencing vapor lock or slight boiling of fuel. A wooden spacer is a guaranteed remedy.
What type of bumper do you have on that? Been trying to find one like for my 89!
89 is a different front end all together. If you are talking about the horns on his bumper i think most bullnoses have them. Take em off a salvage yard bullnose and slap em on your 89 👍🏻
Or look at LMC Truck online for them. Not all have them.
