That wing is surely beautiful. For me even the most beautiful of all aircrafts. What caught my attention is the movement of flaps. You don't hear them moving. Now compare this to Airbus 380 ! When they move you feel like there is a missile getting engaged !!! Great video as always, Thanks for sharing :)
I believe the A380, like the 777 and 767, has extra hydraulic pumps in, its case electric, that help the flaps much like the air driven demand pumps on the 777 and 767. I think this is the case anyway as the whine continues for a second after the flaps have stopped. And regardless of what plane, when sitting behind the wing this far will make the flaps seem silent. I do love the sound of the flaps on the 747 for sure though.
I find this seat better then the one you had last time you were onboard the 748i to IAD. Anyway, beautiful video! That wing is just perfect. Well done Boeing, and well done Dan ;)
Great video, Dantorp. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the wing and the flap/slat action as well as taxiing to the terminal. Nice shots of several types of Lufthansa aircraft. Good job, as always. Mike from Canada.
First time I actually saw or paid close attention to the moving parts on the B747-8 wing, it looks completly different than the previous designs, a lot slicker, slimmer and has less moving parts. than the previous models
Such an enjoyable video, thanks for uploading. It kind of bugs me though how the interiors on a lot of aircraft frequently rattle in flight, particularly the window blind area haha!
NILADRI HALDAR This is a small Autobahn, yoiu can only do arround 75 mph there. On the other site of the airport is an open Autobahn, it is a pretty nice place because u can watch planes and see cars drive by. If traffic is low u can often see cars doing 120-150 mph.
+StormSOld13r How did you get this? How old are you? How many cars do you know that can maintain 120 to 150 mph? I don't know of any car that can do that. Even if you use the metric system which they use over there, it is still not possible.
+CaptainArt777 +lisdoddestraat I drive this Autobahn at least one time a week. Every car in Germany can do 80-90 Mph. Most cars can do 125 mph which is about 200kmh. 125 mph is nothing special in Germany, i would say at least 1 out of 4 cars can do it. I got an VW Golf R, it can do 156 mph pretty easy. 156 mph or 250 kmh cars are not rare. We also have cars which go over 300 kmh or 187 mph, for example some Audis, Porsche or Ferrari.
StormSOld13r Hello Storm. I have a ton of family living through out Europe. Every one say NO Way. I don't believe any car built on a assembly line can go and maintain those speeds of 156 to 300 mph. Here in the US, our nascar race cars will only do a little better. You keep switching between mph and km. My family tells me that 100 to 120 km is about normal on the autobahn. Won't those engine's blow up if you go that fast?
+CaptainArt777 we are talking about 300 Kph, not 300Mph. It's hard to believe when some one has never been to Germany, but believe me most of the cars easily do 200Kph and some cars are driving up to 300Kph
Is that using Rolls Royce Trent 1000s like on the 787s? I never knew that 747-8s used them unless a new engine model came out with the same distinct wavy feature on the end of the main cover of the engine.
No.. 747-8 use GEnx both these and the Rolls Royce engines are beautiful.... Airbus A380's use RR Trent 500's, I believe... 787's use the RR Trent 1000's .. very nice.... 777's use Ge90...
Did you know the reason Frankfurt is called Frankfurt Am Main? The reason is because there is also a Frankfurt am Oder in Germany so as not to confuse people.
Frankfurt am Main is located on the River Main while Frankfurt Oder is located on the river oder which is in former eastern Germany on the boarder to Poland.
Hi sir hope your well as always:} i want to ask is there a size difference between the 747 8 and the 747 400?? and what about the seating capacities, are you bunched up tight?? nice video buy the way:}
The 8i is longer than the 400 and even the hump on top is bigger. I guess the hump is as big as a 737-800. Lufthansa has different Layouts. On three classes they have arround 360 Passangers with over 90 Business Class Seats. According to Boeing with a three class Layout arround 400 shuld be possible,
jenGD3 The speed brakes? Its common to deploy them half way up during descent to help slow down the aircraft, especially during higher rates of descent.
DesertDigger1 It's not so easy to explain: Luft is the German word for air. Hansa is a modern form of the Hanse(Schar)=flock The original Hanse was a very succesful trading organisation in Europe in the Middle Age( between many cities like Hamburg, Bremen, Cologne, Münster, Wismar and a lot more from the 1250s to 1669. The Luft Hansa(two words that time) was born as a fusion of the "Deutschen Aero Lloyd" and the "Junkers Luftverkehr AG" in 1926. So two airlines got together and formed an "air hansa". The story of the Luft Hansa ended by a forced liquidation in 1945. In 1953 was the launch of the new Lufthansa (one word since 1953). But its not the legal successor of the Luft Hansa. It's a complete new company and todays European biggest airline.
+CaptainArt777 Maybe you shouldn't bother to watch it and comment on it? Some aviation enthusiasts, including myself, enjoy looking out the window of an aircraft, especially during takeoff and landing. It's interesting to watch the sequence in which the flaps are lowered, if/when speedbrakes are used, etc. Same reason people collect rocks - they enjoy it and are interested by it.
+h snow How would you know how the video turns out till you watch it? For those that like it, there are many that gets bored looking at the wing. Not the scenery!
Turkish Airlines should choose this as their next generation wide body workhorse. The A380 has too much capacity for a profit margin and the 777x's are just plain unattractive with their ugly wing folds (-9 also offers too much capacity to maintain high frequency routes which would require TK to reduce frequency)
The 747 is the most beautiful plane ever built.
WOW! 747-8 is one of the most beautiful airplane in the world!
You're so lucky to have taken it for a flight :D
That wing is surely beautiful. For me even the most beautiful of all aircrafts. What caught my attention is the movement of flaps. You don't hear them moving.

Julio Romeresto the flaps on the 737 are the best sound ever
The older 737 flaps sound like the 747 flaps. The NG flaps have a unique sound. My favorite flaps sound is the 757.
I like the flaps sound o. A380 :)
You hear them and the gear extension very loud when you sit above the wing
Wow, like butter melting in slow motion.
Great video! I was on Boeing factory when D-ABYA was built there. Huge aircraft.
what a video I was flying on top of the wing. magnificent . you are the best in you tube by far. congratulations.
Fantastic! Absolutely beautiful.
Beautiful experience--take off and landing!
A HUGE thank You for posting this!
Great cinematography, too!
still the queen of the skies!
Beautiful wings. As usual.!In this B 747- fullness of happiness :)
Fantastic video! Great birthday gift :)
Happy birthday! Glad you liked the video my friend :)
Happy birthday
On my last Lufthansa Airbus 380 flight they played Aimee Man Wise Up as we were descending into Frankfurt.
Nice video as always. Looking forward to many more. Good job!
I find this seat better then the one you had last time you were onboard the 748i to IAD. Anyway, beautiful video! That wing is just perfect. Well done Boeing, and well done Dan ;)
A superb video as usual many thanks for this.
That is one complex wing! Great vid!
Great video, Dantorp. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the wing and the flap/slat action as well as taxiing to the terminal. Nice shots of several types of Lufthansa aircraft. Good job, as always. Mike from Canada.
Stunning video - beautifully done.
Great graceful decent and a beautiful cloud good job dantorp :)
I was not expecting another 747 after the -400. But surprise surprise an 800 was announced(:
Nice video!!! I can image what a wonderful experience was on board this 747-8 LH
Friday am flighting in a Lufhtansa 747-400 from Rio to Frankfurt.
Great Video Mate! Love The Clouds At The Beginning! LIKED!
Very nice video !
Amazing,man!!!

Amazing video Mr. Dantorp!!! :D
Great video and for keeping your hands steady for so long. Beautiful wingview, I hope I get the chance to fly on the Queen of the Skies in future!
Great video, as always. Big thanks for sharing!!!
AirPlanesTvDotCom gtyddddfuhuyjhgftupujkjbuui
awesome video, thanks again for sharing...i truly thought i was on this flight...
As you sais in the description, very élégant new QOTS8. Amazing filming as usual.
Nice Thrust reverser action
Awesome video. Very nice job! Watched the take-off from Chicago too. Now I have jetlag!
Epic Video LOVE IT
LUFTHANSA
Omg! I was on that plane too :Oooo what an awesome day!!
And now, i thought about it, and im thinking on traveling alot in my future as well, thanks!!!
Nice video Dan. I took the 747-800 Intercontinental from Frankfurt to Los Angeles, it's an amazing aircraft...
Coś fantastycznego,te widoki nad chmurkami,aż chciałoby się tam zejść i pospacerować, i ta prędkość przy ładowaniu.zajebista..👍👍👍🤗
Such an enjoyable video, thanks for uploading. It kind of bugs me though how the interiors on a lot of aircraft frequently rattle in flight, particularly the window blind area haha!
Very nice video as usual 😊
Thanks mate :)
Same approach my flight took on a codeshare United/Lufthansa flight in a 747-400 a couple of years ago...
Nice view of Rhein-Main confluence at 1445.
Now I remember how people can fall asleep on planes. The wind and engine noises are monotonous enough that I'm about to fall asleep in my chair.
That had to be an ILS approch:)
Nice plane
awesome
Nice performer best 747-8 airlines must induct 747-8 in their fleets economical fuel efficient aircraft
when an A380 deploys flaps there is a whining noise but the 747-8i sounds very quiet!
Buenos videos,
17:33 Is that an Autobahn... because the cars look like they're going faster? Holy smokes!
Yes, Mönchhof-Dreieck on the A67 Autobahn. But not fast. Max only 75 mph (120 kph) allowed there. That's pretty slow here in Germany.
well its not slow, its just not unrestricted.
Great video! ;)
In which row have you had your seat?
WOW alot of md-10's
747-8 implements electrical spoilers? I saw wirings instead of hydraulic tubes.
wow, very long video, but nice to see...
Great video but tbh the 787 wing is way better looking

Hello Dan! This is an excellent video. I make a few videos too. I would like some tips as to how you make them because all the videos I make are shaky

I sit corrected!!!! thanks
Excellent video.. Wonder if Lufthansa still using the B747-4 ?
bullocom They do, but the number is decreasing. They are used for Asian and Southamerican Routes.
StormSOld13r Thanks for the information.

lol they play the take off safety briefing as they landing lol
Jeff Strachan I don't think that's the take off safety briefing. Just the normal landing announcements (welcome to Frankfurt, etc).
+Dantorp Aviation Have you ever played any Flight Simulators?
cool
Does anyone know why the flaperon comes up when the speedbrakes engage? Seems like it would be more beneficial to keep it level with the flaps.
suh dud
Because pilots still need to use aileron steering at high speeds during landing sometimes...hope this helps :)

It's the longest commercial aircraft right now so yeah, it is longer. Even than the A340-600 which is just...wow!!
My ears just popped,
Anyone know at 11:2x++ why they armed those things ??
jenGD3 The speed brakes? Its common to deploy them half way up during descent to help slow down the aircraft, especially during higher rates of descent.
It just occurred to me, I may have a 747 wing fetish after all these years! Amazes me such tiny aileron movements can steer a 300+ ton machine.
747-8i flaps are quieter than a380.
What does "Lufthansa" mean?
