      +Ben johanas FINALLY! It seemed there were not many positive replies...a few...yet I absolutely agree with you. I find this impressive, fascinating, creative, and so enjoyable to watch someone who's damn good at what they do. I do renovations as well, not treehouses, yet nice projects and completely appreciate the planning, materials, execution and craftsmanship to do this build. Very well done! Kudos

    When I was 12, me and 2 friends made a tree house about half the size of this one, fifty feet up in this big old tree. It had a roof, a balcony, and two glass windows that we were given by a man who was putting in new ones. It had a trapdoor and rope ladder but we made a winch to pull us up with. We had one hammer, two saws and a chisel. We got nails from a man on a building site, at first he gave us bent ones, but later gave us a giant bag of new six inch nails. We worked out how to do it as we went along and never asked an adult for help. We had great times playing in it.

I ran across this when I was doing some research to build my own tree house and I have to tell you, I'm very impressed and everyone who watches this should be impressed. You guys are some very talented dudes and congrats on a job very well done! Very impressive !!!!

    Your videos are absolutely amazing! What an inspiration! I've wanted to build a treehouse for a really long time (I already have a smaller one from when I was younger), and this video really helped me get a better idea of how to build it, since building a bigger treehouse is a lot more work and takes a lot more planning out than a smaller one. Thanks for sharing!

    The house is fantastic, I suppose it's too expensive. But, the space between the tree and the floor and roof must be closed somehow. Otherwise, might be happen that some reptile or something else enter inside. May be you could do that by means some spring around the tree and some elastic material.

    • @TheUninator
      @TheUninator  8 років тому +86

      +che14061928 It's not shown in the video, but we did fill that gap to keep squirrels and birds and such out. We made a rope about 4 inches in diameter by braiding 16 strands of 1/2 inch rope together, and we wrapped that around the tree and stuffed it into the gap.

      Ethan, could you show how you mount "the top ring"? Movie starts with preparation of metal parts but then mounting them to/ around the tree is shown from far away. Do you drill the treee? Do I see correctly that "the top ring" holds everything ?

    What happens to these structures when the tree/trees grow???

    • @tuurwevers2819
      @tuurwevers2819 8 років тому +81

      they built it so the house moves with the tree

    • @garfieldwithissuez
      @garfieldwithissuez 8 років тому +79

      +Voxboy876 same as everything else, they require repair or replacement. That said you use mature trees so more than likely the structure will fail before the tree out grows it. Unless you're an elf in which case you just built Rivendell.

    • @softspeaker4179
      @softspeaker4179 8 років тому +13

      well the branches won't grow around the bottom of the trees, where they put the tree house.

    • @crazyforcookies101
      @crazyforcookies101 8 років тому +41

      That's why they left some room for the tree to grow. By the time the tree is bigger than the hole the the structure will be old and falling apart.
