- The Maricopa Association of Governments is conducting a Regional Bus Rapid Transit Feasibility Study to explore the interest in and feasibility of implementing BRT in our region. Working in partnership with member agencies, the study will also recommend a preliminary set of locations where a regional BRT network could connect to planned City of Phoenix BRT investments.

I live right next to the light rail
I'm watching from India
I’m watching from Atlanta. We’re about to get a few new BRT routes. We wanted rail.
Watching from Nigeria
After all, wasn't this material posted on the WORLD WIDE WEB?!
Or you could just build a metro/light rail that runs more energy efficient and carries many more passengers…
I don’t know if you know this but there’s already a light rail in Phoenix and it is getting expanded. This is for other areas in Phoenix that could use it.
not to mention that a brt cost a fraction of a metro/light rail
I like trains as much as the next guy, but that can take a long time to build, they are expensive to build, some or most cities don't have the population density to justify a train line/system. I'm getting a new light rail line on the same block I live in, but it won't be completed until 2028 at least, and most likely it will have to obey traffic just like cars instead of having the right of way
As mentioned by lokibau, brt’s cost a fraction of metro and light rail. The order of infrastructure should be bicycle lanes, normal electric bus lines, electric brt, metro, and electric train, no road expansion for cars, and only green planes.
@@ncard00 As of right now. There are no "green" planes. Just build intercity and or commuter rail.
I wonder why they don't just start building Tram and Light Rail networks
They already have light rail since 2007 and a new tram opening in 2021.
Far too many people balk at the initial costs of rail, but are kept in the dark as far as life cycle costs are concerned. The life cycle costs for rail are MUCH LOWER than bus, even if the bus is electric.
Woww, the USA explains something "new".
Europe's: tell me something new darling, all this knowledge we are useing since decades.

JAKARTA was FIRST in BRT & the BEST!!
@@virtual30 yeah and its sinking.
Brt is a low capacity augmentation to the solution.. we need a larger lrt or metro system to severely reduce congestion
It’s a more immediate-medium term solution than a more costly light rail line… to which the LRT would likely cost significantly more just to STUDY/PLAN & literally find out how much the final product will cost. Much less to build.
By way of comparison, BRT is primarily new sidewalk/median islands, not all that big of platforms, and some existing road space. An entire BRT line could overwhelmingly likely be COMPLETELY open within 2 construction seasons after everything is planned accordingly, meanwhile, how many YEARS of back & forth does it take in an average city for a light rail line just to be EXTENDED, heaven forbid improving existing facilities…
Plus, it appears significant expansion of light rail within the Phoenix area is already going accordingly. BRT could be an excellent supplemental/filler service inbetween whatever lines are coming.
@@schwenda3727 Buses cost MUCH MORE THAN RAIL over the life cycle of existence. Because buses are nothing more or less than AUTOMOBILES of larger sizes and heavier weights than cars, they suffer the same mechanical inefficiencies and tendencies toward failure as cars. The real inefficiency comes with adding air conditioning to the bus with windows that can be opened at will, thus wasting expensive fuel and possibly shortening the life of the entire vehicle.
May I PLEASE ask everyone who posted comments here to read "Moving Millions" by Stanley I. Fischler?! Although rather New York City-centric, Fischler makes fair comparisons between the differing technologies between the two public transit modes.
One way to REDUCE TIME and CARBON emissions, LIVE WERE YOU WORK. Make Gentrification illegal. BUILD FEDERALLY owned low income housing for service workers at the core of the city. Canada has the COOP program where the tenants are the managers and do their own maintenance. Germany has mini groceries stores within a simple walk of your apartment.
I agree that Germany has many smaller stores instead of big ones. Unless you're in a village which does not have a grocery store, you should be able to reach one with a 10 minute or less walk
I love the UVX. Thanks for showing it
Yeah I think BD Made a great decision for reducing traffic jam.🇧🇩
Nairobi I hope it works out. The traffic is massive.
LIGHT RAIL should be the first consideration!
Soon be in Cebu City
Producuer double decker
This nice solution
2:02 No way they used omsi 2 assets
1:14 says it's more flexible than light rail. But doesn't mention it's lot more inefficient and lot more expensive in the long term and has much lower capacity compared to light rail.
Reason: BRT is always sponsored by oil and gas companies and tyre manufacturers. Lot more commissions for the local government compared to making LRT
@@RR-us2kp Not to also mention that buses are AUTOMOBILES just as any car or truck is, and must fight for the space occupied by other members of the AUTOMOBILE FAMILY….
Making special efforts to separate buses from other automotive traffic adds another level of expense to bus operations, as an entire division of police will be needed just for traffic control--keeping cars and trucks off of bus-only lanes and busways.
Furthermore, buses are also heavily supported by the automotive industry, since they’ve always used buses to help them sell cars!
BUS WAY &MRT in JAKARTA
This isn't Jakarta
@@yodathejedimaster7781 Yes, but maybe he means the longest BRT system in the world is in Jakarta
@@zalfarailfans7509 Honestly Jakarta should have a lrt because that city is crowded.

A lot of .somethings in there.
LRTs please
there is 0 reason to use buses over LRTs. LRTs are more cost effective in the long run, more environmentally friendly, more attractive and massively boosts land value.

Lower ridership? I'm pretty sure most places that are considering BRT aren't really considering LRT in the first place.
They already have an LRT. At least the Phoenix area.

Great step forward, hope to see this evolve into a full LRT one day. Until then, doing great already!
Stop building freeways. Make your public transport attractive and economical, force people to use it by closing parking stations.
"an fun and exciting solution"
how about concentrating on the effecient part?
Este solo funciona donde hay calles amplias pero en el salvador apenas las calles son de dos carriles.
Why not build a commuter railway?
BRT is better than rail , like BRT can detour if the main rout is affected , the rail is forced to suspend services if the main rout is affected , secondly BRT is able to reach more places compared to rail
@@siphesihlegift7409 As far as a train breaking down on the line, it first must break down to the point of immobility, which is technically impossible unless sabotage is considered. Also, buses are AUTOMOBILES, meaning that the costs over an extended time period (the LIFE CYCLE), will me MUCH HIGHER than rail. Ditto for the rails which will need only a cursory maintenance apppication every decade or so.
Buses destroy the surfaces they roll on, and leave the maintenance costs to the taxpayers! Those surfaces are destroyed virtually every THREE YEARS!
Now THAT'S a helluva lot of money, most of which would be saved just by constructing RAIL.
