    You could not have said it any better! Spare hits need to be solid and consistent in order to improve.
    It’s so easy for us to strike out but the moment we miss and have to spare, we freak out and sometimes miss the spare. So spares are a crucial part of the game!

    Making spares at this stage are paramount. But the easiest way to pickup more spares is hitting the pocket and leaving one pin spares.
    You got it exactly right.

    Andrew, you're doing a great job with this channel. Just a few months in and you're content is so packed with info. Keep up the good work. I imagine it can be frustrating to see the subscriber count still linger in the sub 10K range. Don't worry, it'll pick up. Good luck in the PBA league playoffs and congrats on a good season.

    Hey Double A!
    Love that you have a channel now! You have a real gift for communicating and a real magnetic easy going personality that is perfect for teaching. I also think your videos are more technical and do a great job of explaining technique. Man, watched this video about trying to stay more upright before practice and achieved a new personal best yesterday! 299! &*$%ing Ten Pin... but man, your channel is great and having a positive effect out there.
    I think the best content you're putting out is just regular check-ins on what you're working on and thinking about with your bowling game.

    What's good Andrew. Cory from Park Lanes in OR, attended the training clinic with you and Prather.
    Just wanted to thank you again for your sage expertise. Took first in the season with the squad. Average is up, spare shooting is better and I have a system in place, and form has markedly improved.
    Much love man. Good luck next year.

    Great segment. One thing I've tried to understand (and failed at) is the concept of the "Yoyo" effect in the release to increase my rev rate. I can do the motion at the foul line without swinging the ball. But as soon as I incorporate it in my swing, I lose rev rate, speed, and accuracy. At what part of the downswing do I do the "Yoyo" wrist flick?
    Anyway, thank you for helping us amateurs. 😅

    Just out of curiosity, since you have already done a new ball review or two, if you will be cover the Sub Zero Forge..... (or whatever it was called😂). The ball has INSANE shel appeal, and I'm really curious to see how it rolls.

    Pretty cool Andrew. I have not seen "The Torch" before. For spares, I set up my feet and body position, but my eyes are targeted down lane. I use a spare ball. Polyester for sport shots and urethane on house shots.

    Spares don’t need much power so I use Andrew’s 3 colinear spot aiming method to pick a very close target near the arrows with a very short push away, short swing and clean release to minimise errors. 🎉

    Great video, Andrew! I have been working on many factors of my approach and targeting, and took the advice of others who commented on questions that I have posted before when I was struggling to figure out the Venom Black. Now I am shooting mid-190s and up as high as 211. Changing the surface and consistancy have really helped. That said, I am working on bringing my speed down as I was throwing 16-20mph. I have been able to drop as low as 10mph, but find that I have the most effective shots around the 14mph mark. Is there a trick to maintaining a certain speed? I am trying to adjust everything with my steps, and that helps as kind of a counter, but wondered if there are other ways to really monitor your speed. I do have the alley turn on the speedometer whenever I bowl, to watch my speed. I am still, since January, actively looking for a coach, but it seems like it will have to be an online one. There doesn't seem to be any around here. Thank you for another great video. You are quickly becoming my go-to channel.

    How do you control your drift if it is fluctuating a few boards everytime? Sometimes it’s 3, most of the time it’s 5, sometimes it’s 6 or 7. Or should you just work with the median range of your drift?

    Another great video. So get a designated spare ball. You must have known that i was gonna ask about that. Should it be the same weight as my strike ball? Do i have it drilled to match my strike ball? I have a black widow and it always breaks at the last minute when i shooting the ten pin. Ive lost more games by missing that pin. Ive been using my strike ball for spares but have a bad habit of not flattening it out on my release.

    Great video as always. I'm a 155 average league bowler. I feel that I'm ALWAYS missing the head pin to the left (Brooklyn) and when I move, I go through the face (miss right). Should I try stay more right (I'm 1 handed right hand) and play "straigter" or move left more and try hook the ball more ? Oil patterns are (I believe) are a big part of my issues! Our centre is constantly experimenting with different oil and different patterns (heck we just got new pins last week too!) So there are SO MANY variables...

    You basically shoot right-side spares the same way I do. That's good for me to know because I was worried that I was doing something wrong. Hearing that someone with actual skill is doing it too ... well, at least now I have someone to blame it on if I miss. :)

    Loving your classes and I need your help. I bowl on 2 leagues and I have had an average in the upper 170's for years although I practice regular and have quality equipment. I have watched a lot of classes that has helped me to improve my technique. Less coming around the ball and now much more behind the ball. From too fast to the line to now much slower and standing closer. It is not unusual that I throw over 200 but often one of my three games might be in the 150's. Why can't I consistently throw three games in the 180's or better. At times it seems like I have bad luck with a game full of splits but I don't believe that. I am sure it is my fail but I do not know how to correct it.

    • @eayala3836

      Not sure if this will help you but i had the same issue, after i get familiar with my equipment i started to test the ball motion with different abralon pads and also start making the adjusments sooner (i used to keep the same position/reference untill i miss, so i started to count how many shots i can make before the line start to break and then i started to make the change 1 or 2 shots before this and that help me to be more consistent on high scores.)

    • @G4zzzzz
      @G4zzzzz 5 місяців тому

      @@eayala3836 Thank you... good idea as often on my weak games I'll make the right move or correct ball change 5 or six shots later than I should have. I keep thinking it is me, not the ball. Counting shots in my make me more aware the situation.

    So I recently switched from plastic to urethane for 10 pins but in the last 2 weeks I have started throwing my 1st ball, I fixed some of my mechanics which I was swinging my arm around my body instead of dropping the ball Into my swing. Question is do you think my ability to shoot 10 pins with urethane and then my strike ball is due to me fixing my my swing and foot work?
    Also do you thinkni should go back to urethane or plastic? You mentioned comfort, I just don't feel comfortable with plastic. I always feel like it slides off at the last second. Just wondering what your high level perspective is about that.
    Thanks for your time, great content.

    Picked up a used polycarbonate and had it refurbished. Turns out it's 13 pounds 9 ounces instead of my regular 14 pounds 2 ounces. I'm nervous about the weight difference. Haven't gotten it drilled yet and want to know if that's a dealbreaker. I've heard that some people like a heavier or lighter spare ball, but curious as to why.

    • @GrumpaBaggins
      @GrumpaBaggins 5 місяців тому

      I just finished a summer league where several people were sharing spare balls that were lighter or heavier than their regular balls. It seemed to pose some problems if there was a huge weight difference, but not bad if they were close. I definitely wouldn't recommend what they were doing. As far as weight goes, I had a pro shop operator that wanted me to be in a heavier ball than my other balls, and he wanted it so badly that he did a more shallow drill on the fingertips and cut the tops off of the inserts with a razor. He did that to keep the ball even heavier by not removing as much of the ball during the drilling process. Your pro shop might be willing to do that to keep the ball weight higher for you.

    Hey andrew i have one big problem in my game. My ball rolls very much over my thumb and a bit over the fingers. In the internet, a lot of people talk a lot about to much pressure on the ringfinger. Since, I really took attention on that, and i think there is too much pressure on it. Could you maybe help me, how i can fix this in practice. I really have no money to change the pitch in all my balls, cause this is, what all the people in the internet told one to do.
    Thank you a lot, if you or any other guy in the comments can help me

    • @GrumpaBaggins
      @GrumpaBaggins 5 місяців тому

      I am by no means a professional or even good, so if someone else says something on here, then listen to them. But, I was struggling with the same issue for a while. I spoke with a retired pro and he said to focus on pushing the back of my fingers and thumb against the inside of the hole thus changing from pressing against the ball with my fingertip side. At first this didn't make sense as it was just adding pressure elsewhere, and my scores dropped for a bit, but after a little while, I realized that I stopped doing that and somehow my fingers and thumb just started sitting softly inside of the ball. It made my scores skyrocket from around 100 to 190s (with other performance changes and consistancy). I also added a little bit of tilt to the ball in my hand by cupping slightly. Now I have a nice consistent high track, but it's about an inch from the thumb hole instead of directly over it. Hopefully this will help you, like it did me, but as I said, if anyone else has a better idea then go for it.
