To everyone complaining about the new voices and saying that Charles Martinet “could still do it easily”, we have to respect his decision to retire and pass the role over to someone else. He’s been doing the voice for the better part of 30 years. He’s 67 years old and provided us with countless hours of joy. Is that not enough? On the other hand, let’s give the new guy a chance, shall we? I know it’ll be hard at first, especially after Charles has been doing it for so long, but some things cannot stay the same forever. His voice has been a part of my childhood and I still adore the man for everything he does. Let’s respect his and Nintendo’s decision to not regurgitate his old voice lines until the end of days, or worse, run it through an AI program. The new guy will only improve and put his own spin on the voice when he’s gotten more comfortable with it. In time, we will get used to it and even come to like it, I’m sure of it.
The graphics and physics are so refreshing, and it really feels like a fresh start. I’m just glad we aren’t getting any more “New Super Mario Bros.” games, because something new and unique just makes it so much more intriguing to watch and play. Nintendo really put in the work on this one, and I absolutely cannot wait to play it when it comes out fully.
This is the same thing as nsmb, just with a fresh coat of paint and a context sensitive gimmick. Which is why everyone in the comments is talking about the visuals and sound design and not the gameplay. Because the gameplay is the same as it ever was
OMG this game is truly delightful. The sound design is superb. They completely freshened up and modernized all of the traditional 2D Mario sound effects. It sounds great
I love how the "Da Da Do Do Do Do Doos" turn into a trumpet when you get the Elephant power up. The devs really put some love into this game. Edit: And a marimba when you get a fire flower, Thanks to @grass9768 for pointing that out
I like how no one notices that the vocals are replaced to what sounds like an elephant sound when you turn into one. Kinda how riding yoshi changes the instruments. Just shows how much detail and attention they put into this game, this is a true mario bros game. EDIT: I noticed the instrument they use for elephant time is a trumpet which is smart because it's very similar to an elephant's trunk noise, also for Yoshi they use bongos probably cause it reminds you of the preistoric dinosaurs
I saw in a video that online mode was played there too. And i gotta say no one is talking about how.. Nintendo basically went "What about the people who play alone" and added this mode where you see real time players jumping in and out of stages, in stages!!!! Its insane
I was excited for this because it reminds me of pizza tower together and pizza tower United (they basically do exactly what Nintendo is doing with this game’s multiplayer) I think it is cool

Only early levels are short. Late game levels will be very long gauntlets with checkpoints being far in between. Final level will be 16 times longer than 1-1, but have no checkpoints.
The difficulty is harder so having a timing will make it harder for an younger audience to enjoy.. So I rather take difficulty over have a timer.. I like a challenge but not to a point it makes me pull me hair out hard...
I can’t believe it’s been over decade since we got a 2d Mario platformer I freaking loved Mario bros U it was one of my favorite Mario platformers I remember I got the Wii U bundle for Christmas 😊
I love how all of the sound effects are more based on instruments (for example, when a character jumps, you can hear what I think is a bass or heavily detuned guitar sliding up, or when a power-up comes out of a block, the sound is made with trumpets). I really love how this game is looking so far. Also, the artstyle really looks like the ads for Mario 64.
It honestly makes the game look so much more fun than it already did, it's probably gonna add quite a bit of replayability as well which is really nice

I've seen a couple people who seem like they just need to warm up to the voice but nobody I've seen has complained about the voice

It's a great addition, though I do hope that Nintendo eventually makes a 2D Mario where each character has their own unique attribute, like in 3D World or Super Mario Bros. 2. Granted, that could be hard to balance with 4+ players all playing simultaneously in CO-OP.
Honestly, really appreciating the presence of the flowers. It’s a little thing, but it’s like you’ve got an adventuring buddy chiming in, making the setting even more immersive.
This whole game feels like it was inspired by Mario maker. It’s got comments with the flowers, the community feeling of playing alongside others like the Ninji speedrun challenges, the trippy and unexpected effects like the screen waves and more creative levels.. and the elephant feels like a reimagining of the Big Mario mushroom. Honestly, it’s awesome.

Mario's "It's a me!" is so different from what came before, but oddly it sounds...right? Especially for this game. Everything is so new and wild and exciting, so it makes sense this is the game that has a new voice for Mario and introduces us to it. I don't know, I just like it
This. Exactly, it's different from Martinet but it sounds right. It sounds like Mario. It fits the character, it's never about perfectly recreating Martinet's performance one to one. It's about keeping the same spirit and energy he invented whilst also having a voice that fits the character. This guy is doing a fantastic job.
Mario's voice is good but Luigi sounds almost the same.. I think over time Mario's new voice actor will get everything down and sound like Charles' Mario voice... In due time you will see the changes like it never changed..

(Premise that I really like the voices), I think it’s intentional from Nintendo that they chose to not be 100% like Charles Martinet. Because there are people out there that can have a similar tonality and can replicate Martinet’s voice and Nintendo has all the means to find one. I think they chose these voices exactly so that both Mario and Luigi slightly feel younger, which is not a bad thing of course! Wish all the best to the new voice actor(s)!
i don't know if its just me but I really like the power-up transformation animations. they look so clean especially with the yellow symbols representing the power up

I actually don't mind the talking flowers here, because their voice gets quieter from a distance. makes them feel more like part of the environment.
Some of these flowers can turn atmosphere into something very explosive. One drop of blood and BOOM!

Love the instrumentation changes when you gran the elephant power up.

Very cool that we get to hear Mario's new voice in this one. Its a little goofy, but I really like the slight change.
I don't if anyone noticed this but the underground stage music is the delfino airstrip when you get that first shine spirit thats pretty awesome how they remixed it

It's a new upcoming Mario game with a lot of hype surrounding it. That, along with the fact that Nintendo usually makes demos for their bigger games, leads me to believe they will make a demo for all of us to play!

I love the new power up poses, especially the fire flower one. Didnt expect to see the bubble flower from the new super mario world rom hacks in an official game though.

I just realized something. I think the wall climb badge might be inspired by a glitch you can do in the original Super Mario Bros where you can do a similar wall jump.

And the glitch actually resembles the wall climb badge in Mario Wonder than the traditional wall jump, hence why I made the connection.

(Premise that I really like the voices), I think it’s intentional from Nintendo that they chose to not be 100% like Charles Martinet. Because there are people out there that can have a similar tonality and can replicate Martinet’s voice and Nintendo has all the means to find one. I think they chose these voices exactly so that both Mario and Luigi slightly feel younger, which is not a bad thing of course! Wish all the best to the new voice actor(s)!

i don't know if its just me but I really like the power-up transformation animations. they look so clean especially with the yellow symbols representing the power up

I like Mario's New Voice actually, I know tons of other people who are gonna have little issues with the voice, but if you really think about it. It took Charles a while to Improve the Voice. Here's to a New Era of 2D Mario Games!
