In order to manufacture her redemption arc we got fed the story she was congenial with the “come through mama”. Meek story telling but she was chosen by production. In my eyes that season was Ginger Minj’s. Among my Queens, I love good actresses comedy and camp.
But: comedy never wins. Comedy doesn’t win Oscars, Pulitzer or other awards and Plane’s specialty is that even though she is very beautiful. So villain and camp was the antidote to winning.

As a child of immigrants I fully get Plane’s experience of family being so close knit and being expected for you to live at home until you are married or at least until you finish college and have a stable job. One can see she's even struggling in verbalizing all of this. She did her thing fearless of backlash from the annoyingly righteous fanbase (who by the way are probably not any better people, they just find flaws in others) and gave us some of the best Drag Race moments since season 6. Interesting how Maddy realized he was making Plane uncomfortable and switched to being supportive.
It’s like you can see Maddy pivoting in real time between joking then not, then joking then not, trying to anticipate what Plane needs in that moment. At the same time it seems like Plane had trouble reading some of Maddy’s quips as sincere or not, so bless this mess the dry humour kept us all fed. 😂

I'm Russian. There's some truth to Plane's words
1). At the moment fashionable names are what parents would like to be unique (old, even pagan slavic)
But in the USSR people came out with some crazy names! Vilen - Vladimir Il'ich (son of Ilia) Lenin, Pobeda - Victory, Electroficatsia - Electrification, Dazdraperma - Da zdravstvuet pervoye maya - long live the first of may, or even Tractor (yes, as a car you use in farming). Btw, one of my son's classmates is called Vilen, but I haven't ever met another one and I'm 36😊
2). We do eat a lot of porridge. My son could make it in a microwave since he was 5. Yesterday he ate 3 servings for breakfast (but not everyone is like that, half of his classmates hate it)
3). Salted fish eggs is THE DISH for New Year celebrations. I don't like it, it's expensive and stinky, but many people traditionally eat it on white bread.
(I'll probably add something as I finish watching)
4). Higher education is very important for our parents. In the USSR it opened doors for people, it gave people from poor families a way out.
It's not as crucial at the moment, but there are many professions that still require you to graduate a good university 😅

Me too. Can’t get over her genius snatch game. But I can see how she didn’t live up to RuPaul’s rather serious final challenges. Anyhow she is queen in my book.
She was the most interesting and entertaining queen of them all and for that she should have won. After all, drag is about entertainment.

I recognize this competetivness and harshness some people with Russian background have, as I live in Finland and know some of them. That's why it has been extra interesting to follow Plane's journey.
Sidenote: Nymphia is also very competetive, she just hides it really well.

It is the best thing ever to get to know more about Plane and her back story. For me, she was the hilight of the season and her provocatory reads actually helped people get more comfortable presenting their individual personalities. Planes little nonchalant meandering the Werk Room with "Hey, siissster..." & "I'm just trying to be a good sister" live in my head permanently. Plane, I love your sense of humor which is, as you know, elite tier genius level and Burger Finger made me aware that this was the best season to watch so far. Thank you for your service. And thank you Maddy for asking all the right questions and being a perfect interviewer.
