Wish I could be as excited as everyone else. "The Alien" sounds like discarded track from Systematic Chaos. But...being a fan...I'll probably buy the album. Hope it won't end up in Goodwill like "The Astonishing."

Generally this album,at least Alien sounds so repetitive to old stuff not excited,id rather wait 5-6 years for them to release completely something fresh
@@mrbungle3310 I'm talking about Mangini's incredible drum sound on this album, as it is finally the best drum sound in any DT-Mangini album.
@@mrbungle3310 But it does feel like old DT grooves on many classic songs squeezed in one song. Well, I think they are like that anyway now. I prefer that over Distance Over Time, and The Alien is already far better than the misery that is The Astonishing. The Alien would fit perfectly in DT self-titled album tbh, as it has a lot of old DT grooves, which could serve the self-titled album right and better than any of self-titled album songs.

@@Adrmeisterwerk I’ve felt the same but I haven’t been wowed by any of their lead off tracks for a good while now. There’s usually plenty to enjoy elsewhere on the albums though.

I love the instrumental releases, but I have no wish to buy vinyl copies as expensive ornaments, so sadly it looks like the basic 1 CD release is my only option this time around, which is a pity :/
You could always sell the vinyls
Wait a few year and sell it. Most DT vinyl is hard to get and sells for way over original price. I recently paid $100 for Train of Thought on vinyl.
LTE 1&2 go for over $500 each on vinyl.
It's a reasonable idea but I'm still working through selling all kinds of old stuff I collected in my younger years. I want to have less 'stuff' lying around, not more :)

Yes i know MP is the best drummer in the world for many many years. The drum signature is so smooth, musicality is great perfectly fit with DT or others bands.. old DT is about MP & JP they're is the heart of DT.
but this is a new DT. the drum never sounded like before. Just Take it or leave it
