How a Winchester 1895 works

- The first Model 1895 was the first Winchester rifle to feature a box magazine that is located underneath the action instead of the tubular magazine design, which had remained fundamentally unchanged from the Winchester 1866. This allowed the rifle to safely chamber military and hunting cartridges with spitzer (pointed) bullets. The M1895 was also the last of the lever-action rifles to be designed by John Browning, and featured a rear locking bolt as in his previous designs dating back to the Winchester 1886. The M1895 is the strongest lever-action rifle Winchester has produced, designed to handle the increased pressures generated by the more powerful smokeless powder cartridges entering common use at the time of its introduction. By today's standards however, the design is considered relatively weak, and not suited to high pressure loads.

Lever-action mechanism has something fascinating and magical, something that makes it satisfying to watch, hear and use.
yes, and it is low tech enough that it can work in a magitech setting.
Shout out to the sound design of the action cycling, it is very accurate to the real thing
The Winchester Russian Contract...
REALLY GOOD!
i always thought that the closing bolt makes the feed lips to prepare the next cartridge but i think i can see in this animation that the rising part behind the magazine is the one that makes the feed lips release the next cartridge under the bolt. This mechanism is to prevent rim lock...
Are we gonna ignore the fact that unlike other lever actions (as far as i know), the trigger on the Winchester 1895 actually moves when you pull the lever?
I think the browning BLR has something like that
Very good to see the m95, have a look at the Savage 99 also one time.
after watching this video for 20min i have a idea how this gun works in detail (probaly missed loads of small things) but i brought a 1895 and with luck it will be deliverd and i like to know how the guns i buy work and vs the earlyer models the 1886 is the king of the show in terms of strenght but this is a way way way way more refined gun and its probaly equal just 4x as complex and better desigend.......I love the John B guns.....

What causes the spent shell to eject?
Two parts, both attached to the 1895 rifle’s bolt, work together to eject an extracted case. A part called the “extractor claw” on top of the bolt extracts the case from the rifle’s chamber by the case rim. The claw holds the extracted case until the bolt pulls it far enough to the rear where the ejector, located on the bottom of the bolt, is actuated and kicks the case up and away from the rifle.
