it’s a shame that “in the aeroplane over the sea” is more of a laughing stock.... it’s one of the best albums ever written, probably THE best album ever written
Laughingstock might be a bit much, but I agree that the album is 100% a HUGE meme. Which kinda sucks, since some folks tend to write it off immediately because "seMeN StaINs tHe mOuNTAintOPs" and all that shit. You can blame /mu/ for a lot of that.
But you are absolutely right, this album features some of the most beautiful songwriting of it's time. NMH is one of those rare bands that said what they wanted to say, absolutely kicked ass at it, and dipped out. I can't imagine anything I could respect more.
I will literally fight anyone who thinks that Jeff wasn't the best songwriter of the 90's

Bro. You don’t even know, I’ve been binging the XFM recording through quarantine, and going back through my fav records. Then I found this and thought the exact same thing
The passion and aggressive in his voice is so dope. Also kinda sounds like Bob Dylan to me.
When Jeff talks, I feel like I'm listening to myself, but like, the version of me that my other self doesnt......
Okay its like My right eye ball is one person and has feelings and vision and expression... and my left eye ball also is a person doing their thing, and they mostly compromise with each other.... But there is parts of my left eye, ball my right eye thinks is not worthy, and becouse my left eye ball listens to my right eye ball, my left eye ball, doesnt do those things or act those ways, and when it does, it feels stupid and nervous so it pretends most of the time that those things are stupid, and holds the belief of the right eye ball, and when it desires to express it feels shame and things its bad, instead of just being who it is..
Well when jeff talks, its like even though my left eye ball has been indoctrinated into my right eyeballs belief, even though it has repressed its expression and pretends it knows those things are worthless,
it sees him doing it, and its like hearing your own voice, the one you pretend you dont have, the one you pretend to judge, in another person.
Its like really feeling, that the expression of another, is so meaningful that it makes you feel like yourself is moving out of another person and you focus and them and listen to them and admire them...
And we should be doing that with every one, so our right eyes will stop bullying our left eyes.

But isn't it "Up and over we go"
I think i've seen him call it both of those names before. I could be wrong though.
Lethean Mist there are four versions of 'king of carrot flowers part 3'. the first one is "synthetic flying machine", the second one is "up and over we go", number 3 is "up and over", and then obviously the one we all know and love
