  • George Palmer joined the Navy in 1967 to “see the world” and because he “didn’t like walking in the jungle.” He served as a Fireman E-3 at Pensacola Naval Air Station in Florida, Vietnam and Seattle, Wash. While in Vietnam, he repaired small boats, including PVR, or “swift” boats.
This interview took place at the Bedford VA Medical Center by volunteer Jim Ramsey.

I was a PBR sailor 1970-71 in the delta. He speaks the truth about the brown water Navy being a real eye opener. Speed, mobility and fire power were our defense. Now 73 years old and memories are still etched in my mind.

These videos can be hilarious. The guy gets a video for "history" b/c he avoided serving on land in Vietnam and fixed boats in the Navy. I resisted the Draft/Vietnam and didn't enable my dysfunctional Government in an American tragedy. He did.
