this would be amazing! i have the 30 anniversary edition portal just sitting there because i dont really need it. but boy oh boy would it be nice to stream my library off of it
I got it as Xmas gift last year from the misses, so she could have the TV I suspect, and it has been absolutely brilliant, I can't remember the last time I played on the TV, I was definitely the target audience and I love my Portal.
Aww yeah I am the same! It’s so good for that! Which are you using more, Are you using your portal for remote play or cloud streaming most of the time?
Just my opinion but, the recent 4.00 update transformed the portal from crap to brilliant overnight. The fix for microsutter 99% makes it feel like a ps5 in your hands. Mine now gets plenty of use.
The beauty of streaming devices is that you can play games at a quality and form factor that wouldn’t be possible natively. In addition, you’ll always have more options gaming wise when it’s no extra work for a dev to port to the console. I’ve been enjoying it greatly, gaming in bed after work or gaming at the airport while I wait it’s been an awesome companion.
I do agree. I think they did an amazing job with it. However, I got it and ended up not using it. I tried it twice and both times I felt like I'm missing out for not playing on my OLED TV with 5.1 surround. I think it's ideal for young people who don't have access to a quality media center and for people with families who can't afford to take over the TV whenever they want.
@ Can you play on your OLED tv while on the can or in an airport or new country? Portability is the main selling point not these weird “affordability” metrics you’re trying to force upon it. I have an expensive pc set up but working at a computer all day I’d rather move somewhere else in my house to game sometimes rather than sit at yet another pc, portability is the reason to buy any handheld.
@CinemaZiggy I always hear about that bathroom argument, but I don't know if people just don't have enough fiber? :D I don't spend enough time on the toilet to even start up a game... If I'm traveling to another country, the last thing I would want to be doing is playing games. I'll explore and experience it as much as I can. I also have a 4090 PC and use it for work. But I don't game on it, I prefer to lay back on my sofa and have a high quality experience in my media center. I'm sure it works for a lot of people and I'm not saying it shouldn't work for you... I was just sharing my experience. I missed the sound and image quality of my media center when I tried it. And I even got the Pulse Elite with it. I really really dislike the Pulse Elite. Oh and I didn't mean affordability, I meant they can't take over the TV in their living room to play games because of their family...
I really liked it at launch but yeah I agree it is even better now, the cloud streaming is excellent! Which are you using more, Are you using your portal for remote play or cloud streaming most of the time?
I love that the PS Portal is finally getting some love and recognition. The crazy thing is, the main benefit of the Portal for me is how it influences my buying decisions for games. Whenever I see a game on sale for PC (no steam deck cause out of budget), I now think about how I can play it natively on my PS5 and also make it portable with my Portal. Thanks to it, I’ve been able to enjoy games I wouldn’t normally play, like Balatro, Unicorn Overlord, and Path of Exile 2. Also, I hate the argument that you can just use your phone. By that logic, couldn’t you use Steam Link and not bother with a Steam Deck or any PC handheld? You’d save yourself $300-$700 since streaming is free. The Portal not only enhances convenience and I can use my phone freely while playing lol (1st world problems).
I know I was just pointing out alternatives that exists. It’s just with the portal you get what you pay for. A good screen, controller, and haptics to play your PS5 games.
I bought mine a week ago to go with my new ps5 pro and I think it's well worth the 200, I tether it to my 5g phone and can stream games flawlessly and at home I can stream from my ps5 over WiFi with no problems at all
Amazing, that sounds like a nice setup you have! Which are you using more, Are you using your portal for remote play or cloud streaming most of the time?
Its cool that the portal can stream games, but just like anything else that streams. The drop in frame rate and the lag will occur. I'm sure most users won't have top tier internet. Still the best way to play games will be a downloaded game or the disc
Bought the 30th anniversary and had it for a week. I really want to give it a chance but i feel like i lost $235. Sony should have just came out with a new PSP. Why should we have to PAY to use the device with no interruption? I get you need good network but even with solid wifi its still laggy.
I got the 30th too. I don't find it laggy at all. What's your WiFi situation at home? I'm guessing a good Wifi 6 or 7 router would make a big difference for you.
Sick device! Dose what it’s suppose to do. Everyone wants their desires…well if that’s the case make the damn thing and let’s see you sell millions 😂😂😂😂
Do you think the PlayStation portal is worth it!? 🏆
Ever since the update, and hardwiring my PS5, YES!!!
If we ever get an update where we can stream out entire digital library, this will be the greatest accessory released for console gamers.
Facts I love the no need for ps5 bust they need better games not saying the games in the library aren’t good

I bought a portal after the 4.0 update and then instantly bought a PS5. Xbox is now just COD machine. The portal is superb!

Very true! Glad you are enjoying your portal! Which are you using more, Are you using your portal for remote play or cloud streaming most of the time?
@@purepsx I’ve been cloud streaming mostly I like the collection they have.
It was ok at launch but with the latest updates where they fixed the stotter and cloud streaming it is now real good.

Steam Deck and other PC handhelds also are playing games natively instead of streaming only. For a lot of people that’s huge.

I recommend keeping the screen brightness a little below half, the battery will last forever

What about a PlayStation Portal Pro version?
It’s been one year? 😮
I have played more games on my portal and my back catalog Then I have played in a long time. It has been awesome!!
I think they’re gonna raise the price
I haven’t played my ps5 since I got the portal

We've had different experiences, i don't have any lag at all
