It's so fascinating to me how many people hate this movie. It has affected me emotionally more deeply than any other film ever has. It moved me to the core, and changed the way that I think about the world. It reminded me how short life is, and how important it is to spend it with family and friends having experiences, not focusing on making money and purchasing things. It also reminded me that even the most misguided and harmful person has a reason that they act the way that they do. It was, to me personally, an incredibly powerful film. It's definitely not a Saturday-night popcorn film for the purpose of sheer entertainment. It is an experience that touches on some of the deepest levels of what it means to be human.
People actually hate this movie? I mean, I'm cool with difference of opinion and all, but damn. I am so hard pressed to find anything worth hating on this production! What the hell, people?
Everybody thinking this movie is not to the normal movie standards: this is supposed to be like a film being about a regular family in real life. It isn't supposed to be dramatic or action-packed. It's supposed to be about the struggles of a single mother and father
Absolutely. As stated, it's the moments IN BETWEEN. Growing up isn't packed with all the action. For example, prom is generally just your senior year of high school. That leaves everyone with the moments in between. The daily perseverance of getting up every day, thoughts while going to school, thinking about a girl in class on a Tuesday, etc. May not be the most intersecting to many, but it's truly an iconic experiment.
I love action packed as much as the next person but sometimes we need a break from all the explosions, cool visuals and colorful heroes. This is about art imitating real life on a sweeping scale.

I heard it was to represent that she is the 'permanent fixture/consistent' in masons life
One of the best creative experience ever. When you are watching the movie, you just don't realize it but once you walk out of the theater, that's when it hits you hard. To understand and digest what you just witnessed for the last 3 odd hours. I myself felt little grown up when I walked out after watching this. This will definitely be one of those movies that people talk about for ages. To Linklater and to the whole crew, Thank you for this gem.
***** So, you need "entertainment" and "action" to have meaning? Think to how you react in your life, it's not like a movie. That's what Boyhood was trying to do, show life, not rehashing dramatics or sensation for the sake of it. You don't need much action for there to be drama in life.
I just wanted to rush home and hold my little boy after watching the film. I guess you don't quite understand how precious each moment is while you're in it. Great film, totally deserving of best picture.
This film provokes thought and curiosity about life and growing up in a way that no other show has before. The subtle beauty that unravels throughout this movie, scene after scene is almost so subtle that you could watch it twenty times and still not fully recognize all of the small beautiful moments that Linklater has crafted. It isn't that heroic, it isn't even that dramatic, which is what sets it apart from practically every other movie out there. It's the perfect portrait of life, and it has affected me very deeply. Definitely one the best movies I have ever seen.
The movie felt like I lived a decade and have known the characters for ages... Pretty good and so factual and real. You learn something actually a lot. Actors are amazing...
This movie is truly beautiful. I think it's crazy how you don't normally recognize how much your life is changing right in front of you until you compress 12 years into a 3 hour long movie. And then you start to realize time goes by really fast and change happens quickly. Also, I'm 18, so watching Ellar grow up in this movie is pretty cool because that was my childhood, you know, everything from pop culture to fashion and the way things were done I mean I can't explain it, throughout the entire movie I'm constantly making these personal connections and it was absolutely amazing to watch, definitely brought tears to my eyes. Well done.
Don't look for a plot, script, twist or anything like that. This is not a movie you watch. This is an experience you share. What that movie did for me doesn't come close to anything I've seen in a long while. This film will mean different things to different people. You just got to let yourself feel.
Exactly, i watched this video first to understand Linklater's goal. I did give it a try for their 12 year effort and it was worth it. This isn't that type of popcorn movie to watch, this is an experience. As a 2000s kid myself i truly could relate to this story and Mason's. At some point there are few scenes that made me feel nostalgic. This is one of the greatest movie ever made!! Love this
Having divorced parents and growing up in the exact same period this kid did....man. This is one of the most personal films I've ever seen. Very beautiful movie.
From the shifts in fashion, music, and american slang , Boyhood is a movie that beautifully encompasses life's transitions and everything it has to offer. Beautifully done! One of my favorite movies.
I like this film because, as opposed to your regular growing-up movie, the director is not manipulating time. Instead, he lets time manipulate him and everybody else involved. Is almost like his role was to wait, be patient, and slowly keep unearthing a script whose co-author was time itself.
This film really touched me, not just cuz of the concept of 12 years and the occurrences that unfold, but it was just so relatable, and I left the movie with a totally different look on my life. Rather than being sad about how fast it's moving and trying to grab onto the past, look back fondly and appreciate the present.
This movie I think answered the question I've been asking for a long time. I'm 31 years old and a mother of a 3 year old son and I guess it's true that there is no real point to life. All you can do is feel the moment and experience the journey.
We now live in a society which has and continues to recklessly attack those "old-fashioned, boring, traditional western values" which were key to having a meaningful, fulfilled life, regardless of losses, disappointments, setbacks, etc. Everyday when someone points to the psychologically destructive aspect of modern decadence, they get attacked, but the great grandmas and grandpas of people today didn't suffer from such malaise of spirit. Today, 25-30% of American women take psychotropic drugs to get through the day and middle age men are part of the biggest spike in suicide. Time to stop bashing old-timey values and take a fresh look at what has been attacked and trashed for the last half-century or so.
Ronald McDonald Has it ever occurred to you those percentages you assert are taking psychotropic drugs were *raised* by that generation you reify? Because I’m one of those “over half a century” old and no, it *wasn’t* that great “back in the good old days.” Stop buying and promoting that old trope: Those sepia photographs you believe are a reflection of society back then aren’t, weren’t and never will be-it’s an illusion you and too many others simply bought into without any thought, reflection or knowledge of history at all.
@@tundrawomansays5067 Actually that doesnt necessarily have to do with the specific values from the older days. It has to do with an adolescents natural feeling to rebel against what their parents say or what their parents make them do. We can see that now more than ever where there is this new generation of children that actually think the whole millenial hipster woke life is cringe, when back then, that was the whole new rage. And honestly, i agree with @Ronald McDonald. Sure some traditional values can be instilled on children in an emotionally abusive way (which, proves my rebelling point earlier), but when done right, those values are what lead to a more fulfilling life. There are woman these days promoting single moterhood. Its one thing to celebrate single moms for all the work they do, its another thing to claim the world is better without man. I mean i literally have a friend who wants to become a single mom. Its sad that people dont recognize the importance of traditional foundational values like family, which to me is the most important. And sure you dont have to have a complete family to have a fulfilling life, but like the actress herself states, its about the little things. The thing is, no one misses what they never had, thats why people like my friend who grew up without a father, thinks men are trash and wants to be just like her mom and raise kids all on her own. Its so disturbing whenever i hear her say that. If only she knew most of the problems in this country, especially from marginalized groups, comes from having a broken home. Im sorry maam but if you truly believe our life isnt at a moral decadence now more than ever before in history i dont know what to tell ya. Also another really obvious reason why everyone is more depressed now more than ever is because as time passes, technology gets better, and living becomes easier, things are created to make like more convenient, daily tasks more efficient. And because of this, people are left with all this free time. It causes people to overthink, to have more time to realize what the meaning of life is. And when they dont feel like they know the answer, it instantly makes them feel like theyre going nowhere, like theyre a failure. In fact its been proven that in an abundance amount of psychological depression cases, the depression was initiated by a season of boredom. Its a real thing. Its called "The existential vacuum" for anyone curious. and if you want to read more about it and modern decadence overall, i recommend the book called Mans Search For Meaning by Victor frankl.
God is the point Love is the point We are the point Sharing it all together in a love embrace one big happy generous family - The problem is not everyone sees this or harmonizes with this -
It's crazy watching this movie because I'm the exact age as Ellar and seeing the time go by and reliving these moments was something I never had done before with a movie. By far one of the best/crazy experiences I've had with film.
I love this movie so so so much because it's REALISTIC and relatable. It hits home without being super dramatic, I guarantee at least one part of this movie will make you nostalgic. It made me bawl like a baby because it made me realize how much I do take for granted, all those little moments that the film shows. I think Boyhood is a true work of art. A masterpiece.
sam borden I have to disagree. I've watched many movies and shows where you are really excited for it and then are totally unable to watch it because the acting is so bad that it's just not realistic at all it's just some random people saying lines with cues. I thought Ellar did great in his part and he pulled it off.
yeah, that is very true. one of the examples that come to my mind is Chandler Riggs (Carl Grimes) from The Walking Dead. In the first three seasons of the show, I think his acting was good, especially for a child actor. But from then on, I feel like his acting went downhill as he got older.
His acting is perfect. It might seem bad, but that's literally how teenagers act. They don't take things seriously, often their words are dry, devoid of emotion. So it's actually perfect lol
For those criticizing the movie for "having no plot" or for not being "dramatic enough"--THAT'S the fucking point! Geez I really do hate dumb people. I mean, it's completely fine if you didn't like the movie and if Linklater's style doesn't do it for you then by all means, you're definitely allowed to hate it. But to nag and question WHY it doesn't have elements of what's traditionally considered action-filled movies means you're too stupid to know that's the freakin' INTENTION of the movie. And that's why most people actually like it, because they're able to actually relate to it in some way or another. Like they said in this video, it's the periods of time between the milestones that actually make up life, not the milestones themselves.
Precisely- well said! It's ALL about the moments... I can't say I really agree with those who say it has no plot. It just isn't a plot that fits into the cookie-cutter, traditional, classical or conventional forms that have become ubiquitous in our culture. Then again perhaps that means the term "plot" doesn't apply as well as "storyline", "chronicle" or "sequence of events/moments". Whatever terms may most appropriately or accurately describe "Boyhood", I feel that it's inescapable NOT to recognize what an epic, unique & amazing project this piece is- even if you don't care for it.
abelign thanks for your comment, and I agree with you 100%.This is one amazing film, one of the better ones I've seen in awhile.OMG,reading some of the comments by backword brainless hillbillies...these are the people who think Sarah Palin is Smart and Bio dome is a American classic film
It must have been one crazy adventure for this cast and crew making the movie. Boyhood is such an amazing and heartfelt experience that leaves you wondering what the future holds. It's perhaps one of the best movies so far this decade!
This movie is my favourite movie so far. The way it reflects life as life, the simplicity, the growth, the ups and downs of life give a sense of contentment. It was the first time I felt like I belonged in this world. Thank you for everyone involved in the movie who created such a masterpiece.
i dont exactly know why i cried watching the movie or the fact that i can still cry right now remembering it. probably its honesty n pureness of showing the life experience touch our soul even if not all.
Brennen Johnson I’m not positive, but I think the only parts of the movie that were actually filmed in Houston was when Mason’s dad is driving downtown, the Astros game, and the art museum. Otherwise 90% of the movie was filmed in and around Austin.
I was born in 1995, watching this hit me right in the heart. It literally felt like my entire childhood/adolescence was put onto the big screen. I was raised by a single mom, only difference is that I'm an only child. But nonetheless, all the small moments is what really shook me up. It was just beautiful and imperfect just like life. This movie is a movie that relates to everyone, but if you were born between 1992-1996 this movie will be extremely special and I know I'll never forget when I first watched it in the theater and felt a way that no other movie has ever made me feel. The only other movie that comes close would be The Perks Of Being A Wallflower, but even still it didn't have the human element that this film has. If you think about it, for a certain group of young kids growing up not knowing where they belong in the world, This movie is almost like a gift from Richard Linklater. He's pretty much reminding us that life is a precious thing that we have to cherish with those that we love while also showing us that we're not alone in feeling like we don't know where we belong or what our purpose is. And the best part of it is that it's ok not to know and to be a little scared, that's life in a nutshell. "Life doesn't give you bumpers"
Yes!! I was born in 1996 and left school in Spring 2014 which i believe is the same as the character in the film. I watched this for the first time that year too
I was born in 1995 too and I fee very similar to you. I don't know if any other movie could ever touch me this deep. I don't even fully understand what it is that makes this movie so precious to me. One part must be that I really Identify with how the main character (but also Ellar himself) thinks.
Completely agree. I was born in 1996 and this felt like watching myself grow up. All the different trends, milestones, emotions really felt super authentic to my own experience.
Unlike many films there seems to be no grey areas with this, you're either gonna enjoy it or you'll think it was the biggest waste of time. I personally enjoyed it and hats off to the crew for accomplishing this ambitious undertaking.
I've always wanted a movie where they use the same cast growing up, always asked myself if they'll ever be a movie like that, boyhood came out and was given what I wanted for years, such a nice film
For me, this is the best movie I have ever watched. You're watching it and you don't understand what you are seeing, it just random nice and sad moments and you appreciate the process they did to film it but you don't understand it, and then the last scene happened. the last scene has hit me like no movie I've ever watched, in that last scene you get the entire movie and you get life. Enjoy life and live the moment let the moment live you.
Richard Linklater you are f**king genius man..spellbound!! The drama, the art, the dialogues, the music, the expression, the story each and everything are catchy from the beginning to end. luv u man..
I started crying when the mom was crying because Mason was going to college.I related to her at that moment cause I always think, is there really more to life after marriage and kids and all that?
As to many, it was very similar to my boyhood. So much so, I asked my dad to watch it and he just said, we'll have to talk about that movie some day. Loved it, one of the greatest I've ever seen. Captured the smaller moments of life. These in between moments are really what make up our lives.
People say is a bad movie because it didn't had action or shit like that, but the movie, they said, is about showing what life is about, I mean pretty much showing what happens to everyone, the director is showing the transitions in life, from diferent perspectives, looks like a documentary, so it doesn't have action or guns or fiction because is a normal life, but it's a good movie, makes you think about your own life.
I say it's bad because it's boring. I don't need guns and explosions to be entertained, but I need something. Story, characters, ANYTHING. Boyhood had nothing.
This movie is the most incredibly deep movie I've ever seen. Ive never been able to view a life from an outsiders view and this movie let me understand what its like💕A absolutely perfect film
I love this movie so much. It's crazy that this came out the same year i graduated high school. I kind of wanted to see the main character go through depression because of things that happened in his life with his family.
There is something magical about this movie that just helps you relax from first frame to the last !!! Truly one of the best passion projects in years.....
This is probably my favorite film ever. I just turned 21 and watching this movie and Mason (who's a couple of months younger than me which makes it more relatable for me) grow up really hits home and probably a lot of you all as well. It really gets the message across to appreciate life everyday and just really got me to reminisce about my childhood and now progressing as a young adult just like Mason. I feel like this movie should be shown in high schools across the country. 👍
I actually really loved the ending! The girl was cute and he seemed to really like her and connect with her. It really seemed like the future was bright and that there were good things to come. Seeing how everyone matured and grew up, it was amazing. We saw how there was a lot of pain and uncertainty during the beginning, but as time went on, it got better. I really liked the ending and the entire movie in general. (:
Would just like to say thank you. How wonderful it must be to have the skill and opportunity to engage people in the way that Boyhood and the 'before' movies have done.
i dont get emotional that much but this film really pulls strings. Very sad i thought for some reason..makes you appreciate life much more when you see it through 3 hrs on a screen
This film is the singularly most beautiful one I've ever seen. I didn't need it to win Best Picture or any awards for that matter. It's forever burns in my memory.
This movie is just actual life. People in and out of your life. Pain, change, more pain. Milestones and uncertainty, feeling, love and happiness, tragedy and the different layers of us throughout the years.
I'm the same age as Ellar so I related a lot to this movie. Playing the Gameboy, Harry Potter, dying my hair a weird color, piercings, the 2008 election, using the iMac G3 at school, etc.
This movie is truly amazing. I appreciate it for its honesty, patience and accuracy. Everyone can relate to this movie in some way shape or form. The end of the movie brought tears to my eyes, because it felt like I was losing part of my family. BRAVO!
Haha, yes. Typically when a movie is financed they receive all the money upfront and often the lead actors will get paid prior to making the movie. I think in this case the arrangement with the movie financiers was to receive their film budget in yearly installments so the actors and crew were paid once a year.
This film is among the rare few that accurately depict life, and it's beautiful intricacies. It's not about these 'big' moments that we assume make up a life, if anything it's about the moments in between. Every moment is divine.
Saw this film years ago, but watched it today with new eyes. What fabulous children actors, who shared their journey into young adulthood! Lorelei Linklater and Ellar Coltrane did wonderful jobs!
I just love that movie, it is so real and that makes it so special. it shows life how it actually is, all naked and without make-up, all the typical everyday worries while growing up. but the thing that makes this movie so extraordinary, is that it was made across 12 years and it allows us to accompany Mason while going through all the stages of his life with all the same actors aging through time...
Just finished watching this movie, i loved it. The fact that it is the same actors growing up right before your eyes is amazing. They captured life! Job well done. Definitely buying and will be one of my favorites.
seeing this movie made me rewatch an entire film of my own life simultaneously, even unearthing some memories I thought I had lost, making me feel all kinds of nostalgia, it was really powerful!
Lol I don't think you get it. It's cuz the movie was so bad, that when watching this video, it reminded me of the time Boyhood deprived me of, therefore making me sad.
Bruggio You left this comment because you were fooled by the most ambitious movie gimmick. If this film had the same script and was shot over a normal period of time, it would be atrocious. I would have been able to condone its intentional lack of a plot if there was better writing, true character development (as opposed to mere physical development), and at the very least some depth to the characters. Unfortunately, it had a dearth of all of these necessities. Also, I'm 43. My profile picture is my nephew who died of skin cancer :(
i love how at 10:00 he explains what happens to us all though. its not just you man, and it was the whole meaning and purpose behind the movie. beautiful
I was so glad I watched this. Although there is no climax, the film really is just about being. The ups and downs of life and the way one navigates it. It’s honest, beautiful and HUMAN.
Several years later and I still can’t get this film out of my head. As I watch my own son grow up (now 16) I get the continual sense of time slipping away
This movie really gives perspective. It got me thinking a lot about what I've been through and why people acted the way they did. Also, I'm impressed by how beautifully Mason's dad expressed his feelings and taught his kids about things in life. I mean Boyhood is so real and meaningful to me. Love it💙
Thanks for this movie. I am about to graduate and it gave me hope. I am glad I saw it when I did, but I think it would be okay if I saw it when I was a little older too. I liked the phases, though. Nostalgia. Current Relations. And, future. Just thanks.
One of the greatest films I have ever seen. The best film of the 21st century. Being a similar age to Mason. I’m a few years older, but from the same generation so watching this movie is kind of watching half of mason growing up but half watching back my life growing up. As soon as Coldplay’s ‘Yellow’ started playing as the film began I got a warm yet sharp feeling inside as I remember when that song was big and I was a kid at the time. Was remembering a happy time but at the same time harking back wishing I could be in 2002 again. Never have I been effected so much by a film. In less than 3 hours I went through all emotions a human can go through. I’m itching to watch this movie in many years to come when I’m a parent as I’m guessing it will be a completely different experience as I’ll probably be strongly identifying with Mason Sr. as a parent watching my own children grow up. But at the same time never forgetting my own childhood. Although, I’m not gonna wish for that time to come too soon as one of the many lessons I took from the movie is that it all goes by too fast. What I would give to go through it all again. Not to change much. But just to experience everything again through a child’s eyes. It truly is magical. This movie means the world. Thank you Richard Linkater.

Exactly so touching especially when he asked " what do you think you will be doing 12 years from now ?" So so amazing
couldn't have said it better myself

Still wondering if you thought of anything else about the movie. After a couple of days I usually have different thoughts about a movie is all.
Spot on.
This film was definitely an C grade tv doco drama at best.
Agreed and the quality was intimate and refreshing

Because I’m one of those “over half a century” old and no, it *wasn’t* that great “back in the good old days.”
Stop buying and promoting that old trope: Those sepia photographs you believe are a reflection of society back then aren’t, weren’t and never will be-it’s an illusion you and too many others simply bought into without any thought, reflection or knowledge of history at all.

We are the point

@@averyadrian1534 I agree❤
My heart felt heavy during every second I watched this movie, and it still remains touched afterwards.
one of the best films i've ever seen in my entire life
Sooo true so so so sad at the end
It's crazy watching this movie because I'm the exact age as Ellar and seeing the time go by and reliving these moments was something I never had done before with a movie. By far one of the best/crazy experiences I've had with film.
I love this movie so so so much because it's REALISTIC and relatable. It hits home without being super dramatic, I guarantee at least one part of this movie will make you nostalgic. It made me bawl like a baby because it made me realize how much I do take for granted, all those little moments that the film shows. I think Boyhood is a true work of art. A masterpiece.
it was a bit risky not knowing if the kids were going to be good at acting as they aged huh?
too bad Ellar sucked ass
I liked his acting.
sam borden I have to disagree.
Spot on! 👌
It has no plot.
Dennis Reynolds Then you missed the whole point of the film,it's not a action film
I cried while watching this.
Pretty sure everyone did.
billsfanfoREVer
i didnt... im a monster
billsfanfoREVer
I didn't i hated this movie!
I cried. over had bad it was
***** what was there to cry about? A mother crying for the 1000x time and showing her laugh for once?
It must have been one crazy adventure for this cast and crew making the movie. Boyhood is such an amazing and heartfelt experience that leaves you wondering what the future holds. It's perhaps one of the best movies so far this decade!
i wonder if linklater will do another project with this dude again and title it "manhood".
That would be so dope
SabastionTheAK right? butanother 12 years? shiiiieeet
It wouldn't be surprising considering how he's tackled the Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, and Before Midnight movies (one every 9 years).
My bf and I totally said the same thing after we watched it together, but yeah it'd be pretty crazy lol
from 20 yrs old to 40?
This movie is my favourite movie so far. The way it reflects life as life, the simplicity, the growth, the ups and downs of life give a sense of contentment. It was the first time I felt like I belonged in this world. Thank you for everyone involved in the movie who created such a masterpiece.
i dont exactly know why i cried watching the movie or the fact that i can still cry right now remembering it. probably its honesty n pureness of showing the life experience touch our soul even if not all.
What's cool for me is that they filmed this in Houston while I was living in the area. LOVE this movie!
You must be proud then
Brennen Johnson I’m not positive, but I think the only parts of the movie that were actually filmed in Houston was when Mason’s dad is driving downtown, the Astros game, and the art museum.
I was born in 1993. My parents were always together and I'm not an only child. But you are right about everything else this movie offers.
Yes!! I was born in 1996 and left school in Spring 2014 which i believe is the same as the character in the film. I watched this for the first time that year too
i was born in 1998
can i be included in the bunch? :D
The making of the film and the finishing of it is more emotional than the movie
Enjoy life and live the moment let the moment live you.
and my dumbbass was all like "wow, these actors they cast really look like their younger counterparts."
I thought they CGI'd their faces lol
This movie was one of the best i've ever seen
No
One of the best films I've watched, in terms of art and entertainment. Ellar Coltrane did an amazing job!
This is the ultimate coming of age film. Such an important film to watch, especially for young adults in college.
Richard Linklater you are f**king genius man..spellbound!! The drama, the art, the dialogues, the music, the expression, the story each and everything are catchy from the beginning to end. luv u man..
i love the whole concept of this film so much, is it bad that i cried
i was in tears after i watched it cuz its like i remembered my childhood and every moment i wish that i did differently
How many levels?
I started crying when the mom was crying because Mason was going to college.I related to her at that moment cause I always think, is there really more to life after marriage and kids and all that?
Of course there is more to it if you make it that way
There's only one thing in my entire childhood that I wish I did.
As to many, it was very similar to my boyhood. So much so, I asked my dad to watch it and he just said, we'll have to talk about that movie some day. Loved it, one of the greatest I've ever seen. Captured the smaller moments of life. These in between moments are really what make up our lives.
we need more people like Linklater on this earth. He is like a window into humanity.
One of the most amazing ideas ever to be carried out on film in my opinion.
One of the most influential pieces of Art I ever saw. Thanks to Linklater and the whole cast. You really made something timeless and special.
that little girl has some beutiful mind, lorelei.
just like that song from coteau twins
Right, i agree
This is a crown achievement of what film and art that represents life should be.
This movie was incredible.
This movie is a real achievement. A great film.
Maybe they thought it was Boy's in the Hood!
I agree with T. Wiggins and Franklin clinton. This movie had nothing, i was only thinking about school watching this movie! SCHOOL!
Judge Dredd Then maybe you are just too young to appreciate the meaning behind it.
Snowkey Well i tell you this: Have you seen anything you remember from this movie?
This movie is the most incredibly deep movie I've ever seen. Ive never been able to view a life from an outsiders view and this movie let me understand what its like💕A absolutely perfect film
"Life is the moments in between those big moments..."
I love this movie so much. It's crazy that this came out the same year i graduated high school. I kind of wanted to see the main character go through depression because of things that happened in his life with his family.
There is something magical about this movie that just helps you relax from first frame to the last !!!
Truly one of the best passion projects in years.....
Who can possibly dislike this beauty?
A master piece takes time. This great work is an amazing treasure for history of cinema !!
This is what I call "The passion for the art of movie making" twelve years of hard work and patience. Congratulations to all the cast and crew.
i dont get emotional that much but this film really pulls strings. Very sad i thought for some reason..makes you appreciate life much more when you see it through 3 hrs on a screen
This film is the singularly most beautiful one I've ever seen. I didn't need it to win Best Picture or any awards for that matter. It's forever burns in my memory.
this is an amazing movie i cant believe it was twelve years but wow im really glad i stumbled on to this movie
This movie is just actual life. People in and out of your life. Pain, change, more pain. Milestones and uncertainty, feeling, love and happiness, tragedy and the different layers of us throughout the years.
So amazing how they done it within 12 years of his life ❤️
I was enchanted by the way the movie told so many stories that are always around us but we don't really think about.
BRAVO!
Filming since 2002, that's really amazing.
Sir, you crushed me with that movie. Just can't explain that emotion.
best movie i`ve ever seen
Easily one of the greatest movies I’ve ever seen! Movied like Boyhood are the reason why I love movies!
Did the actors get paid every year then? Can’t imagine they were happy to wait 12 years for a pay check
Every moment is divine.
masterpiece
This is one of the most beautiful movies I have ever seen
the kid from boyhood can also be a young scarlet johanson
well he's not a kid anymore
Saw this film years ago, but watched it today with new eyes. What fabulous children actors, who shared their journey into young adulthood! Lorelei Linklater and Ellar Coltrane did wonderful jobs!
best movie ever made.
Richard Linklater thank you!
BRAVO! An excellent film it is indeed!
Just finished watching this movie, i loved it. The fact that it is the same actors growing up right before your eyes is amazing. They captured life! Job well done. Definitely buying and will be one of my favorites.
This might actually be my favourite movie...
One of the best movies I’ve seen in my life. There’s beauty in the simplicity of the story.
Loved the movie and I hope it wins a few Oscars. The only problem I had is some parts felt like an Apple ad.
seeing this movie made me rewatch an entire film of my own life simultaneously, even unearthing some memories I thought I had lost, making me feel all kinds of nostalgia, it was really powerful!
I cried while watching this because it reminded me of the three hours that I'll never get back.
True soo emotional
My profile picture is my nephew who died of skin cancer :(
It took you three hours to realize you weren't enjoying the movie? That's your own fault then.
Evan Saltare Yeah I feel ya. But idk, I think it's just kinda rude to stop watching a movie half way through.
I cried watching the film and I cried watching this video. So beautiful.
It was all about the ending. The last 6 or 7 minutes of the film made this film one of my all time favorites.
i love how at 10:00 he explains what happens to us all though. its not just you man, and it was the whole meaning and purpose behind the movie. beautiful
I just watch this, and I would like to say thanks to Linklater. Oh my God, I'm still not believe that this film is real!
I was so glad I watched this. Although there is no climax, the film really is just about being. The ups and downs of life and the way one navigates it. It’s honest, beautiful and HUMAN.
It's awesome that this was filmed in my hometown.
Alex Aceves I was like a giddy school girl when I saw them at the Miller Outdoor Theater, on the very hill I used to roll down as a kid.

Congratulations on the 3 Golden Globes, WELL DESERVED!!!!
Ive seen it and yes its amazing
So educative. The title of the film just fits in. Growing up in a family and the changes that comes as we age. So real.
This movie is great if you are a similar age to mason and are going through the same things that he went through
so anyone from age 7 - 18 ? Is that what you meant?
True it was a great movie for me I am 11 and It really touched me
+Jack Lee why'd you watch an R rated movie at 11? Jk I remember those days
Parker Dad I more so meant the same age as him at the end of the film. I went through similar shit he went through with my family in the early 2000s.
your mom divorced 3 times ?
Several years later and I still can’t get this film out of my head. As I watch my own son grow up (now 16) I get the continual sense of time slipping away
This was a amazing movie!
I've seen this film so many times before and after buying the DVD. Definitely on my top faves. And this "Making Of" just made me emotional.
i hope that movie won an Oscar !
