    OK so after probably about 2 years of picking off qtip lint from doing the reductive method I've finally arrived at gun swabs....man do they work good for this, they don't break down and leave stuff on your minis highly recommend them!

      What do you mean gun swabs? Gun cleaning tools?

    • @lactatinglobstr
      @lactatinglobstr 7 місяців тому

      @@GrimdarkCompendium they are qtips with a guess like a denser cotton wrap. So they don't break down anywhere near as easy as a qtip and leave all those tiny fibers. You can use them much longer as well I will often just rinse mine and let them dry out and use em again.

    • @radiationcow
      @radiationcow 7 місяців тому +1

      Makeup sponges are similar, there are made of denser sponge and you can get ones that look like q-tips that work much better than traditional swabs.

    I really like the effect, though it is a little daunting. I was never able to make enamels or oils work through my airbrush, getting clogged no matter how thin.
    Also, how important is it to do the steps up to the light filter of the base acrylic? It may have been just because it was maybe a little too much, but I couldn't really see the colour sketch showing through.
    Have you used any kind of varnish in between layers?
    Thanks for the info and video! I hope I will gather the courage to try it 😅

    • @GrimdarkCompendium
      @GrimdarkCompendium  7 місяців тому +1

      You can use these little funnels that have a piece of mesh to catch the chunks of enamels that will clog your brush. As far as the acrylic glaze, I just did I far too heavily. It needed to be about 50% lighter than I applied it. It wasn't a huge problem, it just created more steps to readjust it. No varnish. The acrylic glaze will look everything in so you can continue with enamels and oils without messing up the previous layers.
