Tatsuya is a Born Specialised Magician as in ones that cant cast normal magics in exchange for powers that use magical theory but couldnt be explained or executed with current technologies. Tatsuya in loose terms can destroy information and restore information at will be he cannot use normal magics which is to alter information. He was put under modifications to allow him to use standard magics but this is still much less effective than a normal magician using those spells. But no other BS magician can use spells not the ones they specialise in. He does say that eventhough he doesnt need a CAD he says that BS magicians still use them as they are more efficient than just using ones body as they accept psions more easily. For example creating a spell that creates a fireball actually modifies the information in that space to create one.

But that spell is not known to the world and is military restricted under normal situations. The fireball thing was just an example of how magic works in this series. I.e. Neilfheim Miyuki's ultimate tired Oscillation Magic capable of creating temperatures cold enough to make Liquid Nitrogen works by slowing down the movement of Atoms in an area. Magic works by changing information i.e like these air molecules have standard pressure let me decrease this and the temperature lowers. (The information about something is linked to its physical state Tatsuya struggles at this he can restore information like a computer backup on a file or destroy it completely. So he casts 'Dispersion' on his hand so that anything he comes into contact with is destroyed.
You have to admit, faking catching the bullets was a hilarious flex considering what he actually did was vastly more terrifying (hiding that was the point, but still). Also, Miyuki having a spell program specifically for cleaning blood off her brother should concern anyone paying attention.
😂 She’s used it to clean dirt and sweat off of their clothes before (after Taijutsu training), so I don’t believe it’s a blood specific spell. It’s still so terrifying to see her prioritize tidying up his appearance while surrounded by all those guns. 😂 That’s enough to put true fear into an enemy’s heart, and make them piss themselves.

Also the speed of that bullet and how close it is to Tatsuya would probably reach him quicker than most mages could: Pullout CAD Decide on Counter Spell Using CAD to run Activation Sequence Use Magic Sequence Most Activation Sequences take a second or two at the Highest tier of mage like 10 clan. Tatsuya combines his nature as a Born Specialist Magician (He doesn't need a CAD to cast Dispersion, Regrowth & Elemental Sight) as well as Flash Cast to skip the activation sequences of Dispersion so he can cast it in under 1/20 of 1 second which is unheard of
In the LN they can't believe what they're seeing, people can't usually catch bullets, even more so perceive them and move faster than the bullets at close range, even magicians

Molecular Divder creates a object that uses psions to destabilise the bonds between molecules (if i remember right its not been shown the process of this). But we can gather from the users of it that the range is tiny and usually requires a WICAD (weapon integrated cad) to even be cast by STARS which is either a knife or sword. And is a known spell but the activation sequence is Classified as a Military spell
To truly understand her I’d suggest giving “the honor at magic high” a watch. If you’ve already seen irregular it may be slightly boring because it’s the same events that happen in season 1 however it’s from the perspective of Miyuki. Really changes some scenes for the better in my opinion 😆

Mahouka season 2 in July. *Onii-Sama soft voices intensify* Btw, they will animate the Visitor Arc but since we have no idea how many episodes Season 2 will be I have no clue about the Steeplechase Arc and beyond. For the curious ones, Season 1 adapted the 7 first volumes of the novel. Last time I checked during October 2019 there were 30 volumes out already so there is DEFINITELY enough material for a full season with 26 episodes.
Still one of the most non-chalant badass moments in anime. Catches bullets, cuts off arm, sister who normally freaks out is let me get that gross guys blood off my oni-san.
Just a little sample of why this guy is nicknamed both Sasu-onii (Japanese fans), and Godsuya (many fans globally). Also, his sister is no slouch either but doesn't get as much screentime with her abilities.
The lack of screentime for Miyuki's abilities is partly due to Tatsuya's own ability screentime, since, you know, he's her BODYGUARD. Anytime she has to use her abilities to defend herself is a black spot on his record.

Tatsuya's origin in the light novel is pretty badass. His mother's twin sister was kidnapped, tortured, r@ped, and experimented on when a child. His mother had the ability to alter emotions and is why he is so cold to everyone but his sister. She removed the emotions from her sisters memories to protect her from them. However, this twisted her personality into who we see today as the current head of the yotsuba family (the mysterious sinister woman that the siblings respect). The yotsuba clan was always big into experimental research and Tatsuya was one of them. He was engineered to be the perfect protector of the yotsuba clan, so the tragedy that started with his aunts kidnapping would never happen again. Every member of the magical family prayed and blessed the growing fetus to make it stronger in the goal that it will protect them all, except one. His aunt. She didn't want to simply be protected. She was already damaged beyond repair. No, what she wanted was vengeance. So, she poured everything into making this child a weapon, not to protect, but to destroy. Thus Tatsuya was born, and everyone saw what he was capable of and trembled. But they knew he was unfit to call himself a magician like themselves. Because in their desperation to create something so powerful, they created something with only a single spell that he can use. The only reason he can perform any other magic now is because as a child, he was implanted with an artificial processing center to do the magic calculations for him, but it cost him his emotions. What is the one spell he can use? Demolition. He can destroy anything. From bullets to people to the spells of other magicians and even atoms. Creating his own nuclear explosion as we saw at the end of the Yokohama disturbance arc
He was a Born-Specialized Magician. BS magicians are people who are born with strong affinity towards a single type of magic. It's like being able to use a certain magic that others can also do but better. Tatsuya is an exception coz he was born to have 2 than the normal 1 magic only for a BS magician. Those two abilities are the re-growth and decomposition. Also his abilities are not classified as magic but instead a superpower. Something similar to ESP to be exact.
There’s no way regrowth was added into him mechanically, that’s way too powerful. I think regrowth is the magic that’s taking up most of his processing power. He has the power to destroy anything, as well as repair. Basically a god of destruction and rebirth

I love the fact that he tried a knife and thought that would've worked after the kid blocked fucking bullets from an automatic rifle. Like, how stupid can you be to think that if a man a few feet in front of you can not only block, but catch a bullet from that close a distance, that a knife qouldcw worked better?
Because he was one it the first. There were op before but they are usually burdened with some bs conditions or limiter. Tatsuya has one as well but he can still access most of his abilities.

Its like the same scene from One Punch Man where Death Gatling (Hero) used his ultimate move "Death Shower" where he uses all of his bullets and fires it but Garou (Hero Hunter) blocked all of his bullets but then Death Gatling took his knife out and the fights him

He literally rewrote the information about the arm so that the distance between the side he touched and the side he didn’t touch was zero, effectively cutting the arm off. No amount of defense can defend against that

@@seancurtis1199 from what i've heard and clips i've seen about this anime, the protagonist has no emotion outside from his sister, he is overpowered, antagonists always play the trope of "hey, this kid is dumb, i can defeat him" and lose. And that the plot is almost non existant (no main antagonist or problem) and he just kills terrorists and absolutly destroys his schoolmates in tournaments. The only good things i heard about this anime is the soundtrack. For me a 2 good examples of good anime would be the promised neverland and beastars. Tpn, the characters are good, but the hook of the show is the plot (spoilers for episode 1) its about an orphanage where when kids get out they dont go to their new parents, they are instead eaten by demons that live in the earth, it is basically a human farm where they dont know they will be eaten, it is a really good thriller, awesome soundtrack and good animation. And beastars, in this case the hook are the characters, there is no main plot, rather mini plots for a couple of episodes (there IS a main plot, but after episode one it only is the main focus in the second arc) minor spoilers, beastars is about a world where anthropomorphic animals live in relative peace, carnivores and herbivores, though lately there have been cases of carnivores just eating herbivores, many schools have separated herbs and carnivs so these cases are reduced, but cherrington academy hasn't, the protagonist is legosi, a grey wolf who always has to hife his strenght, because in that world carnivores rather than be proud of their strenght it is a danger to herbivores, then louis, a deer who is the best of the class, he is disgusted by legosi because he acts weak, and he would love to be stronger (this reasoning is further explained in like episode 7) and haru, a dwarf rabbit who is presented as someone who will have sex with anyone if they ask, at the start she doesnt get much character development, but we get hints of why she does it (around episode 8 the definitive reason). Every one of these characters gets development, haru and louis also have their own screentime without legosi so we get flashbacks, the soundtrack is really good, and the animation is cgi, it is made by orange so i dont mind (they made houseki no kuni) Edit:And i would like to ask what do you like about this anime? It seems generic af for me
@@kaz2739 The lack of emotion the main character exhibits is actually a benefit to the anime as it allows a different approach in the writing of the anime when it deals with the normal tropes and stereotypes you see in anime, instead of an indecisive and immature childlike mentality, Tatsuya (The main character) is very thorough and analytical, he also does not put up with the same negative behaviors that are often used to fill in rather empty character design, for example the typical tsundere would normally have the protagonist acting wimpy and pathetic even if they normally are not like that in tense or even dangerous situations whereas Tatsuya displays a level of consistency in his behavior which whether most people realise it or not, it forces the focus of the anime to be more about the situations themselves rather than relying on the tropes associated with the characters. Another major benefit is the writing, The story itself is not overly sophisticated but the level of detail thats explored involving the world and the fundamentals of how and why the magic they use works is unparalleled in the genre. For people with a short attention span or for those fans who rely heavily on a very personable or relatable MC I certainly don't think this will be an anime they will greatly enjoy however I think its ludicrous to simply state the anime is bad for no reason other than you don't enjoy it, its even more ridiculous that you have said this without even watching the anime yourself. I have no problem with you disliking it but whether or not you enjoy it is not the topic we are debating here, its whether or not it is good objectively, removing my personal comments lets look at it from an unbiased view. The animation quality is high, the voice acting is well done, the music is above average and more than adequate in its production quality, there is plenty of variety in the design of characters both main cast and supporting, the world setting is well fleshed out and detailed enough given the premise of the story, the pacing of the story is well balanced until an arguably somewhat short final few episodes, the combat and fight scenes can go between the extremes of hyped up action packed sequences to more slow and strategically designed engagements that involve far more than just the Main character( There are plenty of good actions scenes with both supporting characters and even enemies). All summed up I cannot find a single reason objectively why it would be labelled as a Bad anime and subjectively even more so, it has plenty to offer the genre and it is a unique entry that in my opinion deserves at least to be seen before it is judged
@@seancurtis1199 though i have to point out there is a difference between cold and emotionless, and i think someone who doesnt feel anything outside for his sister doesnt make for an interesting character, it would be ok if he wasnt almost a god of magic so battles would be entertaining, and there is a way to make them fun, example is saitama, who doesnt take it seriously, and at the end they at least get someone who takes him seriously, and instead of a whimpy personality this guy has none outside his efficiency for beating people from what youve said, being smart isnt a personality trait, and when the character doesnt even show any emotion while fighting i personally cant get really hyped, plus you know he is gonna beat everyone (except that bald guy that is his master i think). From what ive heard many fans of the LN think it hasnt translated well to an anime (exposition walls) and that many plot threads go nowhere. Btw i may be watching it as an ironic watch with my bud (we are also seeing darwin's game, it sucks ass) so i will be able to tell you the flaws correctly if it has.
Don't forget the scene when he got sniped, he's already healed before falling lol. And to rub salt to injury , he also spotted the exact location of the sniper lmao.
Fun fact for those that missed it in the anime Tatsuya didn't catch the bullets, he used his Decomposition Magic at close range and faked the bullet catch to deal psychological damage to the enemy while keeping his true magic of Decomposition hidden That's why he was glad George made the wrong deduction of it being molecular divider which enabled tatsuya to latch on to this wrong deduction and use it to cover up for his real magic
The interesting thing in this scene was that he’s not using a cad here. So that means that all these close combat magic spells are being used via “flash cast” part of his unique ability to memorize entire spells and execute them. He basically is using his brain as a cad… which for other human mages is impossible as they can’t remember the complex string of characters. (Fun fact: most people have a hard time remembering more than 5 in a row. That’s why telephone numbers are broken into chunks of 3 or 4 in a row so we can more easily remember them.)
He does not have to use a CAD for Dispersion, Regrowth and Elemental Sight as he is a Born Specialised Magican. Who are born able to use 'Superpowers' these are based on Magic and operate with it but they dont need a CAD to activate, can be spells that are like perpetual Flight Magic which only got figured out recently. He has to use Flash Cast for things like the Finger Snap Oscillation based attack on Ichijou. But he has said the reason BS magicians use a CAD is that it accepts psions in easier and with things like integrated sights makes aiming more precise.
The manga of the siblings while they were kids explained tatsuya's power Some thing among the line tatsuya's uncle said to be "a baby born to bring destruction to the world where it brought corruption to his mother" 2nd part is from the manga where the siblings had to go to the their clan's homeland to choose the next head of the clan but tatsuya was never allowed to be in the meetings since he was a quote on quote "failure" but his uncle did a clutch and told him his backstory So and so, tatsuya has the magic of destroying anything (but he prefers to make it deassemble) That is the specific magic her "mother" gave him since birth And no that is not plot armor, it's just that he is just powerful that his own CLAN wanted to kill him due to being a sign of death (cause their clan got a massive problem before tatsuya was born and his aunt was kidnapped and got experimented on)

To truly understand her I’d suggest giving “the honor at magic high” a watch. If you’ve already seen irregular it may be slightly boring because it’s the same events that happen in season 1 however it’s from the perspective of Miyuki. Really changes some scenes for the better in my opinion 😆
Throughout the entire scene Miyuki doesn't even flinch. She is demonstrating complete and total confidence in Tatsuya.

Btw, they will animate the Visitor Arc but since we have no idea how many episodes Season 2 will be I have no clue about the Steeplechase Arc and beyond.
For the curious ones, Season 1 adapted the 7 first volumes of the novel.
Last time I checked during October 2019 there were 30 volumes out already so there is DEFINITELY enough material for a full season with 26 episodes.
It's just the Visitor arc, so about 12 episodes or so.
I'd expect more, to understand the visitor arc you need quite a bit of details.

Just a little sample of why this guy is nicknamed both Sasu-onii (Japanese fans), and Godsuya (many fans globally).
Also, his sister is no slouch either but doesn't get as much screentime with her abilities.
The lack of screentime for Miyuki's abilities is partly due to Tatsuya's own ability screentime, since, you know, he's her BODYGUARD. Anytime she has to use her abilities to defend herself is a black spot on his record.

Tatsuya's origin in the light novel is pretty badass. His mother's twin sister was kidnapped, tortured, r@ped, and experimented on when a child. His mother had the ability to alter emotions and is why he is so cold to everyone but his sister. She removed the emotions from her sisters memories to protect her from them. However, this twisted her personality into who we see today as the current head of the yotsuba family (the mysterious sinister woman that the siblings respect). The yotsuba clan was always big into experimental research and Tatsuya was one of them. He was engineered to be the perfect protector of the yotsuba clan, so the tragedy that started with his aunts kidnapping would never happen again. Every member of the magical family prayed and blessed the growing fetus to make it stronger in the goal that it will protect them all, except one. His aunt. She didn't want to simply be protected. She was already damaged beyond repair. No, what she wanted was vengeance. So, she poured everything into making this child a weapon, not to protect, but to destroy.
Thus Tatsuya was born, and everyone saw what he was capable of and trembled. But they knew he was unfit to call himself a magician like themselves. Because in their desperation to create something so powerful, they created something with only a single spell that he can use. The only reason he can perform any other magic now is because as a child, he was implanted with an artificial processing center to do the magic calculations for him, but it cost him his emotions. He was a Born-Specialized Magician. BS magicians are people who are born with strong affinity towards a single type of magic. It's like being able to use a certain magic that others can also do but better. Tatsuya is an exception coz he was born to have 2 than the normal 1 magic only for a BS magician. Those two abilities are the re-growth and decomposition. Also his abilities are not classified as magic but instead a superpower. Something similar to ESP to be exact.
There’s no way regrowth was added into him mechanically, that’s way too powerful. I think regrowth is the magic that’s taking up most of his processing power. He has the power to destroy anything, as well as repair. Basically a god of destruction and rebirth

Because he was one it the first. There were op before but they are usually burdened with some bs conditions or limiter. Tatsuya has one as well but he can still access most of his abilities.

He literally rewrote the information about the arm so that the distance between the side he touched and the side he didn’t touch was zero, effectively cutting the arm off. No amount of defense can defend against that

@@seancurtis1199 from what i've heard and clips i've seen about this anime, the protagonist has no emotion outside from his sister, he is overpowered, antagonists always play the trope of "hey, this kid is dumb, i can defeat him" and lose. And that the plot is almost non existant (no main antagonist or problem) and he just kills terrorists and absolutly destroys his schoolmates in tournaments. The only good things i heard about this anime is the soundtrack.
For me a 2 good examples of good anime would be the promised neverland and beastars.
Tpn, the characters are good, but the hook of the show is the plot (spoilers for episode 1) its about an orphanage where when kids get out they dont go to their new parents, they are instead eaten by demons that live in the earth, it is basically a human farm where they dont know they will be eaten, it is a really good thriller, awesome soundtrack and good animation.
And beastars, in this case the hook are the characters, there is no main plot, rather mini plots for a couple of episodes (there IS a main plot, but after episode one it only is the main focus in the second arc) minor spoilers, beastars is about a world where anthropomorphic animals live in relative peace, carnivores and herbivores, though lately there have been cases of carnivores just eating herbivores, many schools have separated herbs and carnivs so these cases are reduced, but cherrington academy hasn't, the protagonist is legosi, a grey wolf who always has to hife his strenght, because in that world carnivores rather than be proud of their strenght it is a danger to herbivores, then louis, a deer who is the best of the class, he is disgusted by legosi because he acts weak, and he would love to be stronger (this reasoning is further explained in like episode 7) and haru, a dwarf rabbit who is presented as someone who will have sex with anyone if they ask, at the start she doesnt get much character development, but we get hints of why she does it (around episode 8 the definitive reason). Every one of these characters gets development, haru and louis also have their own screentime without legosi so we get flashbacks, the soundtrack is really good, and the animation is cgi, it is made by orange so i dont mind (they made houseki no kuni)

@@kaz2739 The lack of emotion the main character exhibits is actually a benefit to the anime as it allows a different approach in the writing of the anime when it deals with the normal tropes and stereotypes you see in anime, instead of an indecisive and immature childlike mentality, Tatsuya (The main character) is very thorough and analytical, he also does not put up with the same negative behaviors that are often used to fill in rather empty character design, for example the typical tsundere would normally have the protagonist acting wimpy and pathetic even if they normally are not like that in tense or even dangerous situations whereas Tatsuya displays a level of consistency in his behavior which whether most people realise it or not, it forces the focus of the anime to be more about the situations themselves rather than relying on the tropes associated with the characters. Another major benefit is the writing, The story itself is not overly sophisticated but the level of detail thats explored involving the world and the fundamentals of how and why the magic they use works is unparalleled in the genre. For people with a short attention span or for those fans who rely heavily on a very personable or relatable MC I certainly don't think this will be an anime they will greatly enjoy however I think its ludicrous to simply state the anime is bad for no reason other than you don't enjoy it, its even more ridiculous that you have said this without even watching the anime yourself. I have no problem with you disliking it but whether or not you enjoy it is not the topic we are debating here, its whether or not it is good objectively, removing my personal comments lets look at it from an unbiased view. The animation quality is high, the voice acting is well done, the music is above average and more than adequate in its production quality, there is plenty of variety in the design of characters both main cast and supporting, the world setting is well fleshed out and detailed enough given the premise of the story, the pacing of the story is well balanced until an arguably somewhat short final few episodes, the combat and fight scenes can go between the extremes of hyped up action packed sequences to more slow and strategically designed engagements that involve far more than just the Main character( There are plenty of good actions scenes with both supporting characters and even enemies). All summed up I cannot find a single reason objectively why it would be labelled as a Bad anime and subjectively even more so, it has plenty to offer the genre and it is a unique entry that in my opinion deserves at least to be seen before it is judged
@@seancurtis1199 though i have to point out there is a difference between cold and emotionless, and i think someone who doesnt feel anything outside for his sister doesnt make for an interesting character, it would be ok if he wasnt almost a god of magic so battles would be entertaining, and there is a way to make them fun, example is saitama, who doesnt take it seriously, and at the end they at least get someone who takes him seriously, and instead of a whimpy personality this guy has none outside his efficiency for beating people from what youve said, being smart isnt a personality trait, and when the character doesnt even show any emotion while fighting i personally cant get really hyped, plus you know he is gonna beat everyone (except that bald guy that is his master i think). From what ive heard many fans of the LN think it hasnt translated well to an anime (exposition walls) and that many plot threads go nowhere.
Btw i may be watching it as an ironic watch with my bud (we are also seeing darwin's game, it sucks ass) so i will be able to tell you the flaws correctly if it has.

Fun fact for those that missed it in the anime
Tatsuya didn't catch the bullets, he used his Decomposition Magic at close range and faked the bullet catch to deal psychological damage to the enemy while keeping his true magic of Decomposition hidden
That's why he was glad George made the wrong deduction of it being molecular divider which enabled tatsuya to latch on to this wrong deduction and use it to cover up for his real magic
It's also the same for the chop
He applied decomposition magic as his hand approaches the limb which then fakes the "chopping" of the limbs

The interesting thing in this scene was that he’s not using a cad here. So that means that all these close combat magic spells are being used via “flash cast” part of his unique ability to memorize entire spells and execute them. He basically is using his brain as a cad… which for other human mages is impossible as they can’t remember the complex string of characters.
(Fun fact: most people have a hard time remembering more than 5 in a row. That’s why telephone numbers are broken into chunks of 3 or 4 in a row so we can more easily remember them.)
He does not have to use a CAD for Dispersion, Regrowth and Elemental Sight as he is a Born Specialised Magican. Who are born able to use 'Superpowers' these are based on Magic and operate with it but they dont need a CAD to activate, can be spells that are like perpetual Flight Magic which only got figured out recently. He has to use Flash Cast for things like the Finger Snap Oscillation based attack on Ichijou. But he has said the reason BS magicians use a CAD is that it accepts psions in easier and with things like integrated sights makes aiming more precise.

2nd part is from the manga where the siblings had to go to the their clan's homeland to choose the next head of the clan but tatsuya was never allowed to be in the meetings since he was a quote on quote "failure" but his uncle did a clutch and told him his backstory
So and so, tatsuya has the magic of destroying anything (but he prefers to make it deassemble)
That is the specific magic her "mother" gave him since birth
And no that is not plot armor, it's just that he is just powerful that his own CLAN wanted to kill him due to being a sign of death (cause their clan got a massive problem before tatsuya was born and his aunt was kidnapped and got experimented on)
