Right now, we’re working on Krita 5. It will be a big release, with a new color smudge brush engine, rewritten resource management, vastly expanded animation support and much, much more. We plan to release Krita 5 in August. During this campaign we’ll give you regular updates about the cool stuff you can see is happening for Krita 5.
Targets
Allowing continuity is the primary goal of the Krita Development Fund.
With 25,000 euros a month, we could support all current core developers without depending on the income from the app stores.

This so awesome sir cant wait till Kita 5.😍😍😍😍😍😀
Hello is it possible that you could make krita's USER INTERFACE more user friendly and MORE INTUITIVE in the next update? That's the only thing holding me back from using krita. Also can you please incorporate inkscape or adobe illustrator's smoothness when you do vector or bezier? I would also like to see vector eraser in krita and the capability to drag a shape inside another shape just like in affinity (e.g superimposing a triangle within a circle will make the triangle a child of that circle, it's edges hidden by the circle if it happens to go outside the circle's boundary), this will make it easy and more fun to insert designs/textures/colors within a shape or object.
Man, at this point having krita feels like I just pirated an expensive software lol. When I start earning money I will definitely donate. It would be a sin otherwise.
Already donated and will donate more when I can. Love krita
nice. when i get a job first thing i am gonna do is support this awesome community
Krita is the opposite of Windows when it comes to updates. When I update Windows, I always worry it may mess something up again (by installing Cortana or other crap against my will for example) but with Krita I'm excited to see every new version.
I appreciate your hard work Krita developers. Thank you.
I know right!! That has lead me to search for some update blocker and I found Sledgehammer. It works like a charm, never worrying about forced updates ever again! You can find it in a website called MajorGeeks.
It is good thing that you tell us who is the People behind the great Krita, im gratefull for the software and this.
I really enjoy seeing krita grow in popularity and in development. I have and will continue to donate. This week I was checking out photoshop 2021 and I was disappointed how little has changed from photoshop 2017. Them going subscription based was the last straw for me, in using them in a professional setting. At least corel you can still own the license by the version year. I think Adobe is overconfident that their users won't switch, I hope the krita community can prove them wrong!
I think it can be at least a more balanced Market. With more users and support Krita could create amazing things. Compare 22.000 employees vs the Krita Team. And we are already being compared ! how crazy is that. //RM
@@KritaOrgPainting bruh, it seems like 22 thousand employees are just sitting on wages and doing nothing
I love those small QoL changes.
Great Work! Love you Krita ❤️
Very import-ant.. Thank you. KRITA is great and I love to create with it! Stay awesome!! ❤️ Love from germany o/
About the Krita interface. If possible, it would be nice to add the ability to customize the toolbar on the left (hide / show elements and move them inside).
Similarly well done for the panel on top (where the brush settings, colors, etc.)
The more opportunities to customize for yourself and create convenience, hiding unnecessary, the better.
Agreed, for smaller displays, these unused tools consume so much space which was what made me not like it at first. Getting a bigger display helped but it hurts to see all those unused buttons take up my canvas space.
Many thanks to all who have contributed to the creation of this wonderful program. Thanks to you I am discovering the wonders of digital drawing, despite the fact that I only have a very old computer and a graphics tablet from 2003. KRITA has been a love at first sight and I was very happy to have been able to make a small donation. And I hope that many other people will understand the great value of your work. A hug and a sincere greeting from Italy.
Thanks for your beautiful and grateful words. And be sure any help is useful to improve Krita. I hope you enjoy the Digital painting world. ;) //RM
You guys rock!
Krita is my main drawing program. Thank you guys!
There are quite a few features that still need to be added to future versions of Krita, such as the freehand brush tool for both vector and raster layers, the camera tool for animation, etc.
The improvement of Krita at every step is awesome ! I make comic books and i really like the comic book management tool. I try to use it the best way i can but i wandering if you could make a tuto on it and if some improvement are planned. Thank you very much for all your videos and the follow of all Krita's evolution !! :)
No improvements are planned, but if you have some ideas, you can write about them on krita-artists.org, but first read how to do it properly so it can be implemented: docs.krita.org/en/untranslatable_pages/new_features.html
@@tymondabrowski12 Thank you for the info ! i'll read that to make suggestions the right way :)
Thanks ! Can you guys worked on the Texte tool next for like webcomic artist (if possible) it would be very useful !
Finally, better tag editing! Yaaaaay!
i love this soo much
i wish you guys could import photoshop brushes but still!
good work ^^
edit: spelling mistake
I would like to see a more touch-friendly interface to be made in the future. Not just for the Android app, but also for the Windows Tablets, and convertibles as well
Yes, it's on the TODO, but it's a lot of work, a huge project, just like the resource rewrite that is showcased in this video (which of course doesn't really discuss all the inside work that had to be done).
Yeeeeah it was worth waiting
Thank you for your hardwork Krita team :)
Thank you for your work!!! Much love from India ❤️❤️❤️
You guys are working so hard! I love krita❣️
oh boy! a new krita!! too bad is not good for old computers :")
i had to stop using krita because it would make my pc turn off, i just gotta save money to get a new one
Go to your user preference and reduce the number of undos. That will save memory. Alternatively, you can try MyPaint which is a free open source software. It is a light-weight software, so it should be easy on your old computer's memory.
Btw, you can export files in ORA format from MyPaint and open them in Krita. ORA keeps your layers intact, especially if you wish to work back and forth between Krita and MyPaint.
I would like Krita to have custom shapes library to use technique known as lazy shape. Krita already has vector libraries, but it needs more polish. At the moment, to use shapes from vector library you need to drag and drop them, but there should be an option to point and drag to create them instead.
And its not only photoshop that has this feature. Even Paintnet and corel painshop pro has this feature.
This is what I mean by that ua-cam.com/video/JHVIlIWT93s/v-deo.html&ab_channel=LongPhamLongPham
@@Rain0015 UA-cam comment isn't too good place for a feature request, as the come and go pretty quickly. It would be much better to write a full and detailed proposal on krita-artists.org where you can reach the community and developers. Just be aware that while it's very easy to speak to a paid krita developer, it's way harder to convince everybody, that your request is worth their time - feature like this sounds like a big project that can take months to finish, while there are only 9 people who have a huge release coming in 3 months that will be used by 4mln users.
amazing work! Will it be possible to eventually delete individual brushes instead of the whole bundle? I have way too many brushes I don't use that I can't seem to get rid of without deleting the whole bundle, I try to keep the ones I use in separate groups, but this would help a whole lot.
Thank you very much for the work all these years, you're one of the best art softwares in modern times!
Yes, it will be possible. Then they will disappear from your view (any dialogs and dockers etc.). And then you can even undelete them in Resource Manager later, if you wish (there is an option to see the deleted resources).
IIt would be great, if they can import brushes from Photoshop in the next future feature.
That wouldn't be possible without getting a licence from adobe to make their extension files compatible with Krita. And those guys are really stingy with their licensing.
@@zaam231 i see , i never think of that.
@@zaam231 screw Adobe. who needs them, krita is about to get mypaint integration, on top of its robust brush engine. if only there was a more detail documentation on the brush engines, it looks very complicated lol.
@@MrGhostTheBigRoast agreed on the complexity part.
Right now, it is a similar to rocket science.
But i thought mypaint was already implemented somewhat? I think there's a tutorial or i am mixing things up?
Nice :)
now if only we could make a simple clipping layer.....
kidding, the watercolour brushes have satiated my ambitions for now~
Hey! Does Krita have any small windows that can be applied to one side of the canvas to mix colors like a real palette?
i think yes but i am not certain
@@ethanbuttazzi2602 XD?
You can use subwindows for that: Enable them in (settings>configure krita>General>window>Multiple Doc. Mode> Subwindows. Then you can open one fullscreen document for actual painting, and a smaller one for mixing colors. I made a addon that makes working with subwindows much easier and intuitive: ua-cam.com/video/LwUfLQAgWwA/v-deo.html
@@wojtryb Thanks for your answer. It works but I don't know, It would be better if they included it in the program as an activatable option, don't you think?
@@antonioblanco3086 The problem with that is it's not so easy for 9 people to manage a project used by 4mln users for 10k a month. Each user has some specific needs that in their opinion is the "only thing" missing in krita ;)
So on the management point of view - if there is an easy enough workaround with current features, it's often better to prioritize the most requested ones and fixing the most severe bugs (over 500 open bugs, with two or three new ones reported each day).
Unless you can't code it yourself, it'd be best to start with checking krita-artists.org for similar requests and creating a discussion there to see much needed it is by the community.
I cant wait💞💖💞💖💞
There is a small error with the subtitles, they are not in Spanish, they are in English really
can we import .abr photoshop brushes?
When are you gonna update on androids??? 😩
@@Milk_Bottom Android version has like 20 years of development behind it ;) It's just that the platform itself is kinda new, and there are still some issues. But 98% of Krita works there already.
I would like to see in KRITA handle vector shapes pipeline like in PS. Can i expect that? Thank you for your brilliant work.KRITA is an amazing!!! Good luck.
Would be awesome, but that's a lot of work.
♥️♥️
Need port PS brushes and best free program ever
Need Adobe to publish the .abr file specification, and then we can start to talk... Right now you can import .abr files but only as brush tips, since those are easy to reverse-engineer. Also then we'd need to decide that trying to import PS brushes is more important than other features that are on the TODO list. Come on, Krita's brush engine is more powerful/complex anyway...
@@tymondabrowski12 yeah, now i´m on ther same way as you, and krita will have constantly been improved by powerfull settings, we need to update brushes .
@@tymondabrowski12 still, there are a lot of people that used Photoshop for a long time and would happily switch to Krita if the brushes they are accustomed to would be compatible.
How do you delete bundles from the list? I see no buttons.
Deactivating the bundle hides all the resources from the bundle in Krita. There is no way to fully delete a bundle from Krita's GUI (maybe "yet", but right now, and in Krita 5, there will be no option for that).
👏👏👏👌👍
Excited to see what animation features you'll add. 1 important feature and 2 nice additions would be:
Ability to export animation frames in separate layers automatically. Doing it by yourself is incredibly time consuming as you have to hide all layers and leave one visible. If you mess up in the export, you have to re export all the frames again and hide layers all over again.
Nice additions:
-Camera
-Motion Tweens
These 3 features I feel will massively buffen up krita into a beast.
Yes, you added tweens! Great work.
Sorry if you are busy Krita but why Krita isn't maked for windows 7?
Microsoft abandoned win7 18 months ago. This means using it is not secure anymore, and noone will update it to the new standards.
Supporting krita on win7 would mean extra work for programmers, and maybe even drag krita down on other OSs - all to support a system that should not really be used, as nobody is responsible for it anymore.
I waiting for animation features (auto inbetween and bones) if you want i can create new simple flat icon for brushes becouse old not that cool
Waiting for full layer style features
animation?
I would love to have comic/manga and 3d posing tools in Krita. That would make me ditch Clip Studio Paint forever.
There are some tools for comics, both already included in Krita and some extensions, depending what you need it might turn out it's already there. You can ask on krita-artists.org for details
Hello friends. I just joined the community. I'm a doodly user. Can someone help me find asian people art work for my doodly scenes?
Very import-ant.. Thank you. KRITA is great and I love to create with it! Stay awesome!! ❤️ Love from germany o/
