Bob, I'm 63 and am envious of youngsters starting out on bass today. The quality at nearly every price point is amazing. Modern manufacturing methods are yielding far more consistent instruments than when I started in the early 70's. Great review as always!

Fantastic review as always. I absolutely love this bass. I tried it at my local music store but I'm a fan of yamaha . I have a yamaha drum set . I can totally see getting this bass

Yamaha do make very nice instruments, but yes their basses are certainly on the heavier side of the scale. Great feel and sound though, from my experience.
