You are absolutely right about adding the scaffolding to the riot of color. I loved it before but I think it is now an image that would be easy to live with in the long term. Hats off to the master. Congratulations
I was nervous about this last layer, but I found myself spontaneously smiling as the last edge of the paper popped up for the reveal! 😁 I think that this painting became more interesting to me *because* the writing was underneath & it caused me to look closer (even though I already knew what it said) to read it. Your instincts were spot on!! Beautiful!! Beautiful!! 😍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
By way of explanation - my comment reflects true astonishment! I had a sudden realization of the contrast between actual building and printmaking; it was your use of the words “scaffolding” and “structure” which prompted this. I realized that this is not the first time I’ve seen you use this kind of “wash” if you will, as the FINAL layer, and as (and I quote you:)“something to build on.” I find this striking… 😊! Thought provoking, and a window into your organizational process.
I wasn't sure about overprinting on this, but agree that another layer gave it needed structure. I love that the structural layer is a little translucent.

I can understand you decision for this final layer. It's does clarify and order the elements. Your letters still shine through. Nice result.
I like it so much better now. And I like your use of the term scaffolding . Jotting it down in notebook. Thank you again.
I think about your message a lot. Great to find wisdom peeking through the curtains!
Well done going with your instincts. It really works now.
Yeah, much better! Thnx
Bold and wise move, good instincts 🙂

I kind of loved the gelli plate print. I like this one but I loved the other.
Oh my gosh! The structure came last! Beautiful.

I really like it both ways!
Thanks for watching!

Such a great outcome with your final layer. It's also unique compared to a lot of your other prints..in a wonderful way!
I thought you were making a mistake… but oh my goodness you were exactly right to add the white! Perfect!
Fabulous! Good call... I love how it turned out... I hope you experiment more with words, very cool effect!
Thanks so much Susan!
What do you do with your pieces that don’t work out?
Some bold black would make it ‘pop’?!1
