If you're going to go through Sleep Token's discography here with us, my only advice is to leave a listen to Euclid for last. It hits way harder when you know the band for some time

I second this comment. I can’t put into words how much sleep token have made me gain a deeper love for music. They practically saved my life when I was at my lowest. They’ve easily become my favourite band and it’s been so incredible to watch them grow, considering I’ve been listening since their second EP. Truly masters of their craft and the amount of love I have for them is immeasurable. Worship 🙏
When you listen to Chokehold, first song off this album, you'll hear that line 'It was no accident' that was brought back in this song. Over the three albums comprising this storyline you will see them use this call back technique quite beautifully to pull it all together into a coherent narrative.

They really dove in deep to the meaning
For me with this song, its the way the chorus blends so damn well with 3 styles of music. It flows with the opening hypnotic soft style, the hip hop, and the brighter poppish third movement.

I really love going around and seeing peoples genuine facial reactions and by far yours is one of the best ive seen, its a very emotional song and the fact that you are having visceral reactions shows alot, as well as your amazing analysis. If you like this i reccomend chokehold, call it a callback.

Vessel was so genius as he put the first two lines from 'Chokehold' in the very last verse before the screaming. So amazing!!
You mentioned telling a story. This album is the end of a trilogy. I see it as Vessel’s journey of pain, loss, heartache, toxicity, acceptance, overcoming and healing.
Sundowning, This Place Will Become Your Tomb, & Take Me Back To Eden are art in its highest form. Do yourself a favor and listen to it all start to finish. And do us a favor and make videos of it.

That whole album had a dozen badass songs you could review them all get crazy views cuz each one is produced, sang and delivered to perfection.
After this, I highly recommend that you listen to all three of their albums in order. It is a trilogy. The Sundowning, then This Place Will Become Your Tomb, and finally Take Me Back To Eden. Great reaction, and I am glad to see more people getting into this amazing band. Worship.
Another band I would consider great at "ambient metal" would be Loathe. Aggressive Evolution would be a great starting point there.

I absolutely understand holding off on listening in order to make the reaction vids, absolUTELY, but I very highly recommend going through starting from sundowning and ending with this album.
They did something very special, as artists, and wrote a story that begins with the first album and ties in to the third. The third album has a lot to appreciate as first time listeners for sure, but the sheer depth grows to higher moments of appreciation once you've consumed the others.
They do quite a lot of callbacks to other songs in this album. It's a work of true art
It also is painting the story of a love that is known by both parties to be toxic, yet pursuing it with violent fervour and passion because that's what the heart wants, even though it's so very evident that abuse, pain, and self sacrifice/destruction is happening. Then turns to the realization of things, after the flash in the pan has passed, and watching as you pour your all and only receive pain.
Then culminates in the self granted freedom of growth and beginning the journey of healing. It's remarkable.

I have enjoyed seeing you experience and fight the emotional nature of this song. It helps me realize that I'm not the only one who feels this way and that it's okay to feel this way about this song. You are in for a great and wild ride. If you are up for a suggestion, I would suggest doing a listen through from beginning to end of Sundowning followed by This Place Will Become Your Tomb and ending with Take Me Back To Eden. If you do it this way, you will get a lot of the call backs and references that ST does. In this song, at the end there are call back lines/melodies to the first song in this record called Chokehold. "It was no Accident" and "Tangled up like branches in a flood" are the lines I'm referencing. I feel like you would greatly benefit from this journey personally. As someone else said, "Sleep Token will heal us all!"
I only started watching reaction videos after i got into Sleep Token a couple of years ago. They very quickly because very special to me and i love seeing people discover them!
The other track of the new album that I would HIGHLY recommend is Euclid. As for older stuff, definitely Bloodsport (room below version) as the emotion is just so raw and heartfelt, The Love You Want as the video and song combined make it an incredibly beautiful experience, and The Offering, Higher and Jaws. The Way That You Were too, just vocals and organ. I had that song on repeat for like two days when I discovered it lol.
I’ve been a massive fan since they released Jaws in 2016. I’ve been trying to push them on people ever since, they’ve been amazing since day 1 and deserve all the fame they’ve gotten. And just a little extra info, Vessel 1 and 2 (the drummer) write everything. But you really should look into their whole discography, nothing is bad.

How, after listening to this song what feels like every day for the past 3 months am I just now hearing the Vesselettes in the background mix, they are so muted, but they are there and if you are looking for it, you'll hear them and how much they add to the beginning layers. Now that these two are out of the way, youre about to get a better feel for what all they’re capable of. Ascensionism and TMBTE are similar in structure but that can’t be said for another other songs.
I can’t speak for everyone but if you post an 18 min video for a 7 min song, I’m here for all 18 min.

At 11:40 and 11:50 where Vessel says “It was no accident” and “Tangled up like branches in a flood”, those were both throwbacks to Chokehold. One of their previous songs. Also, there song “Euclid” has a few of those as well. I really enjoyed your reaction though. You seem to truly attempt to analyze the lyrics which I like.
No Chokehold is the first song off THIS record, Euclid, the final track is a callback and a full circle to the first track in the first album of this three album Trilogy, the song being The Night Does Not Belong To God.

The reason why everytime the guitar comes in it sounds like a breakdown is because they have 8 string guitars tuned to drop E which is a whole octave lower than standard guitar tuning, which as a guitarist is insane to wrap my head around.

Brother you couldn't be more correct. Technically this album is the third part of a trilogy that started back in 2019. And it's not presented in a straight forward fashion, so there's plenty of theories to chew on and lyrics to digest and contemplate, and plenty of room to interpret, which to me is the hallmark of a great artist. If you're going down this rabbit hole, first "Welcome!", and second, take your time. Enjoy it. Each of the three albums; Sundowning, This Place Will Be Your Tomb, and Take Me Back To Eden are each their own thing, but part of a larger whole. A lot of what Sleep Token is deliberate, and you can get lost in the nuance of the content. But it's a powerful experience. Welcome to the club. :D

Welcome to the fam! I have listened to every reaction to this band available on YT. Such a wide variety of responses yet still overwhelmingly positive. I understand that “worship” can be off putting for some, but I see it as the message Vessel is the conduit for is what is being worshipped, not the band or Sleep the deity. This is my opinion at least. Looking forward to more breakdowns!

So. This is part three of a trilogy about the same topic. A relationship gone bad, and in this song it alludes that the relationship has turned violent, that it has traveled far beyond the path of reason. But underneath there is this deaire to retun to the innocence of it, this prayer yo salvage it. No amount of love can keep it(the relationship) around if we(plural) dont choose it. But despite best intentions and hopes to return to eden, in the end it devolves again into violence.

You've probably already heard this, but you should listen to their three albums in order. They flow together so well and you'll notice the callbacks to earlier songs
Always remember my dad telling me that when he was going to primary school and got into bands like ACDC, Deep Purple, Motorhead and then early Metallica, Slayer, Testament, Vio-lence and so much more, all he was told by teachers, adults and most other pupils, was metal was just noise made by talentless dirty long haired wastes of space.
He was told all metal sounded the same, all metal was violent, a bad influence, was the music of the devil etc.
Listening to my dad's record & cd collection over the years, it became clear that the people my dad was talking about had never actually REALLY LISTENED to Heavy Metal because it was obvious to me how stunningly beautiful Heavy Metal is in all of its genre. How talented the musicians are and how incredible the vocalists are.
These bands are full of experts playing their respective instruments and singers displaying a multitude of different vocal styles.
Then finally, the lyrics in metal, tend to be far more relateable bringing out a multitude of emotions, that helps listeners maintaining their emotional wellbeing.
This Song is just stunningly beautiful and is aural bliss to listen to. Metal has been the only music that has brought me comfort during my darkest days. This music has genuinely saved my life on several occasions.
