    I loved Top Card when I was a kid in the early 90s. I use to look forward when school was not in session I would tune in to this program. I wish TNN would come back to the air.

    Top Card was one of my favorite game shows on cable television. I would watch this show before I would do my homework.

    THis aired originally between April 2, 1990-September 28, 1990 as this is the shows' second of four season given the format used is the one used from seasons two-four and Jim Caldwell is hosting.

    I miss the good old days when TNN/Spike aired good game shows. Enjoyable game shows even for people like me who aren't country music experts/fans.

    The bell sound when a constant buzzing in from Think Fast.

      But, oddly enough, the bells used when someone hit 21 was from Family Feud

    Some game show fans may disagree with me, but Jim Caldwell was underrated. He was pretty nervous when he first took over Tic Tac Dough from Wink Martindale (hey, the guy had really big shoes to fill), but he did improve as that season went along, and by the time he started on this show, hosting game shows was like a second nature to him.

      John Fenner right, we all know that feeling! that was the "bob barker/drew carrey transition" period that's another good example. you got huge shoes to fill, and you're real nervous! after all, you can't come close to the level of the previous icon, but how can you do that sort of style, but not duplicating the former. i gotta say, Drew did what jim does here, he may have been on the "nervous wreck" level as he first started, but some loyal friends including myself would all agree, that he improved majorly as time went on, and that's why it survived to see 45 years, and i believe at the rate he's going, it will live to see the big 50.

      Disagree. Jim still seemed incompetent and stumbling around, thought not as bad as Tic Tac Dough.
      Drew Carey is awful and makes Price unwatchable.

    Congrats on the win from back in the day, this was a good show. Did you keep the car or sell it back to the dealer?

    It's a shame the question material had to switch abruptly to (mostly) country music.

    • @andrewschroy6368
      @andrewschroy6368 7 років тому +1

      Well, being this was on The NASHVILLE Network (and considering Nashville is known for country music)... ;-)
      But yeah, I did like the variety of questions they had in the first season.

      the country music aspect was emphasized further when dan miller became host...there were categories where he’d require contestants to complete song lyrics by singing

      @@andrewschroy6368 Then, they should've sent it to MTV instead or VH1.

      @jnadle1 country music wouldn't have worked on MTV or VH1, music in general maybe.

    I never heard tell of this game show. I watched it to see what it was like, I didn't like it at ALL!
    I didn't know ANY of the questions that were asked. Plus this game show is just Catch 21 (Catch 21 was ALOT better)!

    • @marcpower4167
      @marcpower4167 Місяць тому

      This came before catch 21, if anything it's derivative of Gambit. Catch 21 incidentally was produced by Merrill Heatter who also did Gambit so he only ripped off himself in that case.

    Not good when he did the remake of Tic Tac Dough

    • @marcpower4167
      @marcpower4167 Місяць тому

      I think he knows that too, he was probably really nervous or too green to handle such a popular show. He was much better here and the Great getaway game pilot.
