Thanks for explaining why you teach using the 4th finger on the 3rd fret, really helps to know the reasoning behind the method

This book is free and the videos make no money pretty much. Volume 2 does cost 12.99 but all the videos are free to watch so buys me some good coffee on occasion! UA-cam adds make a few cents at best.

Oh ! In this tutorial you taught me the very very very basic techniques of fretting hand position which is certainly going to help me build up strong foundation and skills in my playing proper classical guitar. Learning Classical guitar is something such basic and common that will certainly help you in playing Acoustic and Electric Guitar also. Right sir ?
Sir, i have always found your video tutorials very useful, helpful and informative ; I have also downloaded your first free PDF Book before 2 years.
I know sir It requires initial script, much more physical and mental strain to Prepare for, make and upload such video tutorials which would would easily explain the fundamentals. So for that I thank and congrate you and your team. God bless you and your team and your family.

Hey coach, I am wondering about the numbers just above the notes in the part of Sight Reading& Review on page 23? What do these numbers refer to? What is their function in the notation? Or should I just ignore them and keep playing?
    Thanks!
Note: It probably refers to which finger to use to play the note; I have just figured it out.

The numbers above the strings are fingering, which finger to use to play the note.

Helllo Bradford. I am really enjoying working through the classes; I have purchased hard copies of vol 1 & 2, excercies the big book and the pdf 20 with tab -as I'm looking to the future I also have got the grade 1/2 -That's called optimism! My question is about lifting the no longer necessary finger If I'm playing E,F to G - should I keep the 1st finger first fret down as I know I'm coming back, or should I lift the first finger when I play G using my 4th. Does that make sense? I have tried to see whta youa re doing on the video but it is hard to tell. Very best wishes and thank you so much for this beautifull structured course without which I would never have known where to start and probably not even dared. (Peter Caine)

Yes, you can generally leave your fingers down in those situations unless it causes tension. At this level I'd be more concerns about accuracy and hand positions along with relaxation but if that is going well I would generally keep my finger on F in a passage of E-F-G-F-E

@@Thisisclassicalguitar thanks so much - yes this is total beginner, I've been practicing with Vol1 &nd videos for about 10 days now having watched and rewatched the early lessons on position many times - I am now on 'Fairy Tale' and just also purchased the 2O favourite excercise pdf method so will work on that when I have added a few more notes to repertoire. Many thanks again for all this.

You don't need one immediately but I do think it's beneficial. If you are just starting the book my recommendation is to buy one after you get a little ways into the book and use it when reviewing easy material. You'll find it difficult at first but if you use material that you are ultra comfortable with you gain the rhythm benefit without any frustration.
