Hmm I have a Marine belt that was my dad's from the 1940's that seems to have the teeth on the other side of the buckle and can't figure out how to buckle the belt with those teeth lying flat
I sharpened mine because the teeth aren't holding, but it still won't hold. Poor design for people that actually work for a living. Not referring to this particular belt buckle, but the design in general.

Hold the buckle with one hand and with your other hand pull the part of the belt that is comming out the buckle.

Cut what you want off, then somewhat burn it so it doesn’t unravel then insert it back in
