My guess is that her child (and maybe even herself) was eaten by a croc hence why there's so many crocodile symbolism in the garment for example. And maybe she knows whose fault that was and maybe, which is even worse, still thinks it's her fault while she has to accept that every creature needs to eat. I don't know exactly, but she's very interesting.
