I am a course of miracles student!
I have only watched a few videos and haven't rewatched any yet (need many rewatches of each)..... So far, I have only understood a tiny bit (maybe a fraction of one percent) and it has STILL changed my understanding and my life!! It's very heavy stuff if you honestly try to comprehend it!! After one video, I am about as tired as an hour of nonstop physical exercise because my brain is working so hard and on so many levels!!

"I dream of a vacation at sea and in the dream I am seperated from the other people and things at sea. and I forget that I am dreamt together with the others in the dream of myself". lol. what a Game of Consciousness I am Aware now.. thank soooo much for making known what is Known. hahaha lol. I dream to hear these words and in the dream I think that I am seperated from others that hear these words and who speaks them. I'm glad you found the humor within the innocent attempt. During the 60s, When my earth parents were still with us, Daddy would tell a tale of a young beatnik, his 1st experience attending the High Mass service at a cathedral, and his answers to a few questions after abruptly exited the gathering.
He said something to the effect that the digged the colorful threads and the weird pointy hat that the guy on stage running the show was wearing. And, the great singing and prayers to the Big Guy in the sky was really cool..., then when the singing stopped and the prayers ended everyone in the audience made hand gestures touching their head and their stomach calling out Daddio and Laddio, which at 1st I thought it nice to be calling out to family, but, when they crossed their hand from shoulder to shoulder and called-out for the Big Spook...

before God Realization is attained.

Exist etymologically means to "stand out of" in this case, standing out of awareness. Therefore the answer to your question in this context is no. In other words there is not, nor has there ever been a volitional and autonomous entity existing separate from awareness. That which you call Rupert can only become a thought, a sensation or a perception for you, and the substance of these is only awareness.
Rupert is alright.
