The trumpet sound when the dagger appears and when Macbeth tries to touch it killed this scene for me. But the rest was good

Why? I thought it added to the scenes’ score pretty well

My English teacher played this movie for us in class and as soon as the dagger appeared onscreen the entire class lost it. The teacher had to pause the movie because we were all laughing too hard.

I dont know wether the dagger that appears and disappears was a Polansky creativeness or was the way It was written but I like it very much and the manner Finch plays it. A good looking man but one of those times in the middle ages. Not one of modern times.

How long, how long will I slide?
    Separate my side, I don't
    I don't believe it's bad
Slit my throat it's all I ever
I heard your voice through a photograph
I thought it up and brought up the past
Once you know you can never go back
I gotta take it on the other side

I remember I have to see four scenes (this was one of them) of this soliloquy and my English professor made us choose who did the soliloquy better and have much feeling to it. I forgot what I chose but this one is really good.

Yes, it’s actually a pretty realistic psychological thing especially compared to most plays around the time of Shakespeare

  • @jjt9201

I did not know that one. But why do they show Duncan's murder. It is a mistake. Shakespeare did not show any murder before Banquo's murder. What's more, at night. The pacing of the scenes should keep the viewer engaged and imagining how each character dies, in his own head: Macdonnwald is bravely killed in a battle, hundreds of deaths, the Thane of Cawdor is bravely hanged, Duncan is cowardly killed. His chamberlains as well. So it is up to each spectator to imagine the scenes. And think. Hundreds of deaths, one death, what's the difference. How do we react? Quite the contrary, all these violent scenes on screen dont let the spectator think. It's absurd. Totally absurd. The very first murder we clearly see is the one of a child: Macduff's son. Shakespeare shows it. In this case, no, "present fears are not less than horrible imaginings". Innocence is killed. Every day. His mother follows. All these movies where blood is pooring from the beginning to the end are rubbish. Polansly: rubbish, ... Cohen: rubbish. And the likes. Macbeth is not an horror movie.
