  • So effectively you get an isolated map, safe from attack. Limited soil but that is manageable with hydroponics and the mineral scanner. Power is a bit trickier, no geothermal, no hydro, no wind. Might be an idea to bring a few unstable power cells to jumpstart the map. Tox gens could work if you bring a few polux seeds. As a challenge I can see it being a fun way to play.

      it's kind of weird that they still don't show up on the list, though. For example, wearing tainted clothes shows up with a zero for Pechet because it's normally a debuff, but doesn't count because she's got bloodlust. I would imagine the same should show up for the tableless-eating & ground-sleeping, where they're on the list but listed as 0 because of the ideology.

    I always setup a "table trap" in my colonies to deal with food binges. Basically, I mostly surround a table with wall with only a one tile gap. In that gap, I put a wooden wall blueprint which I presupply and then I forbid. When a pawn has a food binge, they grab a meal and then go sit at the table to eat it, so I can just ask another pawn to finish the wall to lock them in. After that, I just have to wait for the mental break to get resolved of its own. It also works with alcohol and psychite binges if you keep beer and psychite tea close by.

    What's super interesting is that it's actually possible to set up a colony inside the labyrinth and even send off a spaceship. (you also do not get raided inside)

    I am impressed with the dedication you have to sound leveling in your edits. Most UA-camrs don't bother and have music at twice the levels of recorded speech. This does wonders for not waking people up with music that is overly loud. You are definitely one of my favorite subscribed channels.

    Adaptation factor isn't how long the game has gone, it is a counter of how well you have dealt with previous raids. Basically, every time an event happens and your colony doesn't take any damage it increases by a bit. That being said, there's a strat of using a wimp pawn to get downed repeatedly in order to get that number lower.

      In a colony full of psychopaths, that delicate pawn would be in an almost permanently downed state, due to always losing the social fights, I'm surprised FJ hasn't cottoned on already, but, give it time.

      Personally, I'd prefer a pawn with either the Wimp trait or the Extra Pain gene, so that, while they might be easier to down, they wouldn't be as likely to die from their injuries.

      I avoid downing or hiring pawns to sacrifice so Randy will go easy on me. If Randy wants to kill or down one of my pawns he can try and do it himself.

    Francis, no worries about using your time to do the labyrinth experiments. I had a couple of questions you didn't address in your experiments:
    1. Can you put a stockpile zone over the bottomless pits? If so, do things in the stockpile disappear?
    2. What happens if a pawn goes on a bottomless pit tile?

    When you get more into anomaly stuff there is a great way to get rid of all your toxic waste so a mechanitor and toxifier generators will become really good if you do that.

    For Ghouls, don't give them any extra weapons other than a power claw. Just one power claw then replace their other hand with a wooden hand. That leaves them with 1 attack option and it is the highest dps weapon they can use. Unless they have a flesh whip which is slightly lower dps but way higher AP. Give them barbs for the 50% melee damage boost. If you are wondering about the wooden hand, they will not attack with it so it removes it from being an attack option.

    There is a mod called Optimization:meats that turns all normal meats in the game into just raw meat, meaning that they stack together and you don't have a dozen of differently named ones that are essentially the same. It can be added with an existing save
    Twisted, human and insect meat are the same as before

    BTW Francis, since mood seems to be a recurring hurdle you have to keep jumping over. Now that you've moved into sustainable moderate expectations, you should probably consider:
    * Separate bedrooms to eliminate the constant disturbed sleep debuff everyone keeps getting in the barracks
    * Some comfy chairs for long use work stations
    * Not to mention staying on top of clothing condition/durability to keep the tattered/ratty clothing debuff cleared.

      Eh, making separate bedrooms would ramp up colony wealth even more, and distributed sleep stacks only 3 times.
      If this colony did not have pain is virtue, it would be nice addition that would make mood a bit higher, but this meme disables comfort, making suggestion moot

    Just a note Francis, if your sick and tired of those dark ritualist's setting up a circle and preforming a ritual, right at the borders of your map. And you don't always have someone to take out the caster preforming the ritual. You can always build some wall barriers around the very edges of your map (maybe even a even leaving a trap or two) which forces the caster to find more suitable open space to preform the ritual, leaving the majority of the attendee's of the ritual to stay where they entered the map from, but while the caster roams the map being a lot less unguarded. (and occasionally sometimes the caster can get stuck, path-finding and the ritual will never start)

    You can make void statues out of bioferrite to further improve ritual quality. Also, you should really look into bioferrite weaponry and just generally its properties as a material (to be clear, I mean bioferrite versions of the "standard" weapons. I'm not talking about the special bioferrite guns. If what I read is correct, a bioferrite longsword can beat out a [non-persona] monosword)
    Bioferrite flooring for the containment room also helps.
    Also, when you were first bringing wastepacks into the labyrinth, I thought you were testing if you could get a wastepack infestation there.

    If You need a safe tile to play with, wait for a worshipful village quest from relic hunting, clear it from enemies and DO NOT hack terminal there. Until hacked (or settled), the only events possible there will be eclipse and center map bug infestation. Also if You normally go to that tile by caravan, it will be genereted small. But if you use imperial shuttle instead, map will be genereted with normal size, geotermal and other stuff included. (Tested on 1.4)

    Void fascination sucks, it's like Gourmand in that they will randomly mental break and release an entity even at high moral.
    Transmute steel is nice, I never smelt down steel slag and instead turn it into plasteel, gold, uranium, bioferrite or twisted meat, so so good :D

    A small low expectation colonist on the surface and a massive Labyrinthian civilization. But you might want to check if there's an inhuman raid there

      You can build transport pods in the labyrinth but you can't load them. You can't use farskip while in the labyrinth to get in or out.

    The flesh tentacles and what not do count for transhuman/body modder bonus, and those pawns won't get the mood penalty from them. That obelisk makes TH ideos a bit easier

    Give Warmachine a (legendary) bioferrite sword. Anything made with bioferrite has a semi-hidden psysensitivity bonus (which scales with quality, you can check it in the pawn info menu). In addition Bioferrite has a sharp-damage bonus that almost matches plasteel and a penetration bonus that exceed anything else your can get from a craftable material. You can then add bioferrite plate armor and flak helmet for even more psy-bonus.

    I do feel like anomoly content gets a bit overtuned for the threats as you gain more wealth

    Adaption factor is *not* how much time has passed in game, it's how much time since you had a major set back (like a pawn dying)

    You could also send up a lot of your colony until you get a single or very few colonists, send enough steel to set up hydroponics and biofuel refining, a vanometric cell, etc., create essentially an infinite research dimension or child rearing area. You'll likely get tons of free colonists in your actual colony, but you'd just need to keep wealth down and maybe cannibal/nutrient paste with traps. Send every new person to the maze and either take off into space or reappear ready to demolish the void

    Transmute Steel is nice. I've seen it turn steel into an equivalent amount of Plasteel, Uranium, or Twisted Meat. As for your testing with the Labyrinth, I think you'll appreciate the Pit Gate when it shows up. It may be what you are looking for...

    Make your containment walls out of the bioferite. I am fairly sure it is the best containment material... I'm pretty sure floors help too, but I could be wrong about that one.

    - Is it viable to use a bloodpack prisoner as a target for chronophagy, drain bloodpacks from them and stick them in a biosculpture pod while they regenerate blood? Because the main downside of biosculpture pods is that they take ages to work, creating downtime for otherwise useful pawns, but if they're just a bloodpack prisoner then there may not be any downside (other than energy and crafting materials).
    - Also can you chronophage a ghoul (so they are over 18) and does unnatural regen (or ghoul regen serum) heal brain damage?
    - Trust Francis to look at a hellish pocket dimension and think "it's free real estate". Also what does it say about Rimworld when a hellish pocket dimension is arguably a safer place to live.
    - If Warmachine is a waster, would it be worth having some tox gas grenades to intentionally expose him before a fight?
    - Are there other enhancements for ghouls (I think it said you can give them an adrenal heart)? I'm curious what genes, traits and bionics improve ghouls, and if melee skill matters.
    - You could clear out those corpses, but I think it said that if YOU use deadlife dust the shamblers are neutral to you. One option is move them to a location with a roof, then use deadlife dust and let them out. I'm not sure if you can kite them in some way or use them as part of your killbox.

      Essentially, the meta for ghouls is a tough/robust one with a metal heart and fully defensed out to tank (I need to know if stoneskin is allowed with ghoul plating...) and nimble makes them insane, then adrenal heart with spikes and increased damage in every way via tentacles, spikes, fangs and knee spikes so that one tanks and then the others are maximum damage dealers since they can exceed 25 dps in melee if kitted properly

    A base inside the labyrinth is cool, but consider a base inside a pit gate. Almost no events can happen in those, so you are safe from pretty much everything

    Once the kids are aged up to 13, you could use an intentionally poor chronophagy ritual to put them into their early 20s so that they can perform tasks at max speed, and then keep deaging all of the other colonists to keep them in their primes. There's something hilarious about the idea of being the same age as your parents. I also love the idea of transferring melee skills into each pawn and giving them all elbow blades or powerclaws or whatever so that they can kill anything that gets too close to them without having to call one of the Dumbshits. If you threw a death refusal into every pawn too, then you would have a functionally immortal colony with a cheap way to repair lost limbs and non aesthetic scars (e.g., murder.).

    a tip: I got the cloning obelisk event to happen on my own colony a while back. It cloned my best pawn, one of the starters who was a sanguophage. ( my poor attempt at having a poshet) and are like BFFs now, even the Og pawn's kid likes the clone. the only con to this clone so far was bad organs that were very easy to replace, I nicked name her Franksnow since the Og pawn was named Frost

    make a bioferrite sword, it has a multiplier (not additive) to psy sensitivity. Psy hyper + bioferrite -> 200+ psy sensitivity

    After you attune the monolith there's another event with a convenient potential base/toxic waste dump location (no need for grenades). it's much easier, and more convenient (you can get your lifter mechs or people to auto-dump waste while it's present! (it works similarly to loading drop pods or a caravan, with no cooldown)). There's even a ritual to summon it and it's a good source of shards!
    Edit: Also, I'm pretty sure the eating without a table and all that is due to your ideology, no? doesn't rough living negate those thoughts?

    Slaves never try to rebel if they don't have a walking path to the edge of the map. The slave tap still shows a mtb for rebellion, but it's a lie, you can't even trigger a rebellion in dev mode. A labyrinth colony seams like a great place to send slaves to. I wonder if you can farskip from the labyrinth to your colony. Also, can you install a com's consol and call in "reinforcement" as a source of nutrition?

      Coms console in the labyrinth can only call mechinator quest enemies. If you call allies you can't request anything, most likely as their is no entrance.
      You can't farskip to the labyrinth either, no way to select the tile.

    Little late, but I'm pretty sure Smerk is getting his transhumanist fix from that flesh whip/tentacle he has. Just a guess, given that's not standard human physiology. At least, I hope you don't have a tentacle to make you think it's perfectly normal.

    Use the chronophagy backwards to age up your ghoul past 18. That will fix the max health cap maybe

    Most pawns can 'live' up to 120-ish, throw a bionic heart to prevent heart attacks and you got the most morally bankrupt bloodbag possible! Old Pee-Paws finely aged Blood, keeping colonies going since 5501!
